I’ve been coming out to visit the wine bistro for the last 6 years. I have seen 3 owners come and go. All great ppl and that I will miss. Especially Jared! & his lovely parents. I love the new snack menu. It gets crazy busy during the night of Halloween night or holidays. I usually drop in before a hike and or after a hike. It gets really festive on days they have live bands too. Joy has been a new asset to visit and Steve will not drop a «F» bombs if his left alone during peak times. His actually really gracious if you ask me. This location is great to meet locals or ppl visiting from LA or San Diego and of course many from Palm Desert and beyond. Idyllwild also has an art school so you will meet many local artist. Then of course many many musicians. I always return because of the exceptional customer service and live bands. It’s a lot of fun and you should stop in sometime and join the fun. Check in on Unilocal and receive a $ 2 off a wine glass

Downhill. Oblivious. My how times change. Besides the obvious that one POS is a hindrance the staff seem to be blind or perhaps overwhelmed. I sat next to their POS with an empty glass waiting. Waiting for someone to ask me that all important question. While waiting, not one, not two, not three, but four others walk up and were asked that all important question, «may I help you» while my glass remained empty and dried! Finally, a staff members asks and I’m gaiety with excitement and she asks if I’m alright. I tell her that I’m just happy that someone finally acknowledged I had an empty glass. At this point location, location, location is trumping service.

Despite the fact that they were not THAT busy and we stood at the bar waiting to place our order. Bartender ACTUALLY ignored us and went to others. Totally odd, if you want to feel like you are still in a big city and fine with attitude, you’ll fit right in. Or, walk over to the bake and brew and remember why you can the mountains.

Oh Idyll awhile! Love love loved this little winery/bistro. My boyfriend and I were staying at strawberry creek bunkhouse just around the corner for the weekend and I found this place on Unilocal. We arrived at our bunkhouse around 7pm and we were dying for a snack and some drinks which lead us to this place and we ended up stopping by again the next day because of the wonderful drinks, food, service, and atmosphere. My boyfriend ordered the Moscow Mule and the mulled wine on our first night, which I ended up drinking half of because the they were both DELICIOUS! I definitely recommend it! If u see mulled wine and the mule on their specials board, TRYTHEM! We got a meat and cheese board to shared as well as the cheese filled breadsticks and bacon wrapped jalapeño bombs! The breadsticks were meh, but everything else was YUM!!! There was a live band playing, «hot flashes and the men of pause» I think lol! Great musicians! Really got the crowd dancing! Everyone knew everyone and we could tell this was definitely the town hangout spot of choice. It was packed that night and the next afternoon during lunch! It was the keyboardists birthday that night and some locals brought him a huge cake and they were kind enough to offer all of us slice! We came back for lunch the next day and tried the French dip and GOODLORDITWASABSOLUTELYAMAZING! Simple sandwich but the quality of the ingredients were excellent and it made all the difference. Seasoned roast beef, pepper jack, a toasty fresh baguette, and au jus! We were also craving more of their delicious mulled wine but it was still simmering so we got a 4 beer sampler instead. The male bartender, younger guy… didn’t catch his name, very nice guy! Brought us a blonde ale, a honey ale, a Cali cream ale which was unique, and a coffee stout! All pretty damn good! The mulled wine wasn’t done till the end of our meal when we were ready to leave but the male bartender knew we wrecked to wait for it so he poured us a mini glass on the house for us to sip before we left for a food coma nap! If you’re ever in town, Idyll Awhile is a must! Get the mulled wine or Moscow mule if they have it and try the French dip sandwich, cheese board, and bacon jalapeño bombs! Good times!

Nice local bar/pub in the middle of town with a large wine selection and a good beer choice too. Certain nights they have live music.

Katie was awesome as were the Pils from Berkeley. Great vibe and the dog friendly porch is a great spot to soak up the sun and enjoy the laid back mountain. Can’t wait to go back…

We checked this place out on our weekend getaway to the mountains. We did a little research beforehand and found out that a jazz duo that turned out to be a trio was playing. We got there early and ordered an appetizer and a bottle of wine. I saw on a previous post that they had many $ 12 bottles of wine on the menu, but that since has changed and there are now only 3 different cheap bottles. I mention this for any other cheap-o’s out there who are looking to get wasted and don’t care so much about the year or aromas of wine. Anywho: the food was good but the small portions were over priced. Next time we go we’ll be sure to eat a small meal beforehand. The band was awesome. The place ended up being jam packed by the time the band started playing but even with that said the service was fine. We will definitely be back next time we’re in for the weekend.

Idyll Awhile is a great place to sit back and relax. We camp whenever we visit Idyllwild and it’s a short walk from our campground. It took a bit for the bartender to warm up to us, but once he did it was a pretty great experience. They have some great craft beers, some sours, and a large wine selection. Definitely worth the visit!

I recently was up in Idyllwild for the first time. After a long hike my friend and I decided to grab something small to eat and a drink to reward ourselves for surviving our hike. We decided to check out Idyall Awhile. The place was small and quiet with a few customers hanging out around 4pm. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Even though this is a wine bar, we both decided to order beers instead. They have a great selection of beer especially since their primary business is wine. After looking at the menu we choose to share the Meat and Cheese Plate. This dish exceeded my expectations not only in the variety and amount of food presented, but also in the quality. The meats, cheese, spreads, and fruit all served to went very well together. We were very happy with our choice and that we shared. It was exactly what we were looking for.

A pleasant place to drop by for wine in the center of a town without much else. Even though most customers were drinking beer, there was a small selection of wines by the glass for a wine bar, but enough to keep things interesting. Instead of committing to a single glass, we opted to try a four glass flight for a bargain $ 12. Because of the quirky selection including local wines from Idyllwild and Temecula, the wines were more miss than hit. Not really a «bistro», they offer simple foods like flat breads and cheese boards to go with the wine.

Nice place to have some wine and beer tasting. Right in the downtown area and has a parking In the back. The owner gave me a big glass of wine and great selection.

Beer Stop 104 —- «Beer will always find a way». My girlfriend and I came up to Idllywild to do some biking We love craft beer so were were surprised to find this spot in town. Idyll Awhile is mainly focused on wine, but they now have a pretty large bottle list. A ton of good Belgian beer — we drank La Trappe Quad, Rochefort Sour, and one more blonde ale(forget the name now). The tap list was small, around 6, but had a mix of Belgian Beer and local SD Beer. The food was actually not bad. We ordered the spinach dip and the portion was a tad small. Usually I would be disappointed but the price was very affordable(only $ 6 bucks) so we ended up getting another. I will be back, if I am ever in Idllywild again.

This place is great — live music on Saturday evenings and great prices! You can get a glass of Cab Sav or Syrah for $ 6 or you can do a bottle for $ 18.50 for the first bottle and $ 12.50 each subsequent bottle. The most expensive bottle on the menu is $ 42. They also have a variety of bottles along the walls to purchase and you can open and drink them there or take them with you. They also have a good craft beer menu and a great beer flight. The flight is 6 beers with 5 oz pours for $ 18 and I enjoyed the great variety in the samples. We would have tried the foods but we had been snacking all day and were headed to dinner after our drinks. Would love if this place stayed open later but I will definitely be back!
