The reviews on this page are NOT for the Igo Inn but for the Black Bear something.

A terrific building way off the beaten trail. We have been to the Igo Inn twice under its current ownership. The first visit we arrived just after a 20+ table was seated. As a result, we waited to have our order taken and meal served. But that was understandable. The burgers were good. Last night we went for dinner, planning to stay and see the Jim Dyar Band afterwards. There were a few tables there ahead of us, and the better of the two waitresses on hand told us to sit anywhere. We grabbed a table and waited. And waited. The lesser waitress walked by our table at least 10 times without saying hello or bringing us water or even a MENU! In fact, she deliberately turned her head away from our table as she passed to avoid eye contact. After 15 minutes, my husband went to the bar for drinks and I went to the unattended hostess stand and got our menus. 3 tables that came in after us placed their orders with the«better» waitress, and I use that term loosely. After another 15 minutes, I got up from my chair and blocked«our» waitress and asked if we could order. She said«Yes, we’re very busy. Let me get the other girl.» That was it. We left and went to Mary’s Pizza Shack. We will not be returning. I would like to add that their beer selection is abysmal and don’t even get me started on the wines and the lack of knowledge thereof.

Last night we had a nice birthday dinner for our daughter and her husband at Igo Inn, an old inn from last century, maybe two, that is located in a small town about 20 miles outside Redding. Anyway they have a very nice dining room with beautiful wood floor and an old bar, and decotated nicely. Even though it was just an ordinary Thursday evening there were quite a few people eating dinner. The menu is not extensive but adequate, something for every taste. I tried the clam chowder for an appetizer, it was very good, tasted a bit different but good, just some different spices. The steak was good, it was not quite to my liking, but the owner-chef was glad to make right, and when he brought it back it was perfect, pink, but not bleeding. My wife had the pork dish, excellent and the same for my daughter, she had the pork also. Her husbandd also had the NY steak as I did, But he likes his rare and it was done right for his taste. The service was fine for us, we got an appetizer to kill the wait while the meal was prepared so it was just right. On time, hot and delicious. A Very Good meal.

Just had lunch there with a friend. I had the special(a polish sausage sandwich) it came with relish and mustard sauce on the side and french fries. Everything was so wonderful. The mustard sauce was AMAZING. I wanted to put it on everything! The french fries were perfect, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. My friend had a pepper jack burger that came with fries. She said it was one of the best burgers she had ever eaten. We also go dessert I got the crème brûlée and she got the chocolate tort both were out of the world. The owners were so friendly, the service was prompt and friendly. I can’t wait to go back. They also do dinner and I’m very excited to try their dinner options. I would and will recommend this place to everyone. I can’t say enough nice things about this place, the food, and the staff.

I had lunch at the Igo Inn last Saturday. I and my companion both ordered shrimp louis. The salads were excellent and included a generous amount of shrimp. The greens and veggies were just-picked fresh and the presentation was attractive. The restaurant has an interesting menu, with some unexpected dishes, including quite a few vegetarian offerings. I’d give it another star if we hadn’t been the only people there. It’s a pretty drive out there and not that far. It was nice not to have to deal with traffic and finding a place to park.

I had the clam chowder($ 3.50) and the Angel Hair pasta with mushroom marinara sauce($ 7.50). Another option from the specials board was a philly cheesesteak sandwich. The pasta had some shaved parmesan cheese and was an ample portion size for the price. Instead of being a runny mess, the sauce was thick with mostly chunks of tomatoes which although I am not used to, turned out to be great for producing full flavor. I would really like someone else to try the clam chowder though and review it so to tell me if it tastes like it has vinegar in it. There’s a first time for everything, and this was definitely a first for me. I tend to compare all clam chowder’s to Timbers in Portland, OR that tastes so rich as if aged Tilamook cheddar has been mixed in with it. This soup was at the opposite end of the spectrum: lighter soup base and lower calorie. Thinking it over, it makes me wonder if the intention of the chef was to make the soup still appealing with ~100 degree hot weather through avoiding a heavy chowder. I’ll know I guess if come November and December the soup takes on a different character. Regardless, I am glad the owners took that tack instead of what the owner at Eddy’s does when soup sales are slow: he just quits making it. For an example of a menu item that you can’t get anywhere else in Redding: a southwest polenta with green chiles, black beans and enchilada sauce($ 9.50). The drive isn’t all that far either. From the Placer at Court St. intersection my odometer only logged 10 miles.
