Time Enough Books

Love this place. Nice selection, cute gifts, wonderful owner and Scout the Dog too! Would love to sit in one of the comfy chairs in front of the fireplace and read all day. Next time we visit, I think I shall!

Two things I love to do whenever I’m in a small town: get a copy of the local newspaper, and look at the local bookstore. This place, in the tiny town of Ilwaco right on the shore of the Pacific on the Washington side, was a great surprise: the owner was friendly and helpful, he had a cute dog in the shop eager to say hello, and the selection, while not huge, was surprisingly interesting and diverse. There were a lot of local authors, a decent selection of used books, a lot of kid’s stuff (that’s what keeps a lot of small independent sellers afloat), and a very pleasantly well-​stocked travel section, from which I picked up a couple of books. It’s obviously not a place I can return to whenever I like, but it was impressive enough that I’ll gladly go again next time I’m in Ilwaco. Thanks for a great experience!

The best little shop; a diamond in the rough! I want to move here and I will probably make the 3 hour drive on a more regular basis!!! This whole area is a must experience!

This place is definitely… ok. The staff is very nice and are helpful, and there is a super sweet dog running around, as well as a play area for kids. As far as the book selection goes it’s a pretty ‘meh’ place. There isn’t a huge selection of used books at this new/​used bookstore, and the ones that Time Enough Books does have seem a bit overpriced. They also do not have a big selection of any section of books. Overall, the place is okay and a bit meh. A great place to kill some time.

My partner and I hadn’t been in Long Beach/​Ilwaco in ages, and took a little mini-​vacation. Walking along the sun lit path by the water and boats we saw a cute little book store and decided to pop in. We were greeted by the welcoming committee, a huge and super sweet golden retriever (I think). The selection of books was remarkable, and I found some very interesting and unusual titles. Besides their wide selection of intelligent and compelling books, they had a large selection of children’s books and games. Carla the owner was a wealth of information on local recommendations for dining, accommodations, and more. Every place we went to that she suggested was great. As a book store aficionado, I highly recommend this book store.

Distinguished bookstore! The staff are really helpful and down to earth. Nice people too! Their kid section impressed me, they had some really cute items and I liked their displays. They told me how one of my favorite Portland authors (Chuck Palahniuk) had signed a bunch of his books and sent it to a friend of theirs stationed in Iraq. This great story made my day as I was picking up a novel of his to enjoy at the beach. They don’t sell used books but they do have the latest and greatest novels, you may be able to find an elusive Harry Potter or something else just as wonderful. I think they also have some great events too. And I really enjoyed discussing literature with them and their recommendations were great too! Check them out if you’re in the area!
