Slow every time I go. Food is applebees so doesn’t stray from that. Service was so bad yesterday they cut all meals off my bill except one which is why I’m giving it a 2 star instead of 1.

This location has gone down hill. The first thing you notice is the music. It’s really loud! You may want to watch the game here, but it’s muted due to the music! Also, my steak was awful. It tasted like the smell of a farm! The service is great, but the lackluster atmosphere and bad food did it for me. **I’m editing my review and taking back what I said about the steak. Its not Applebee’s, its me. I had steak at another local steakhouse and had experience some not so pleasant side effects. But yes, the loud music is still really not my thing.

The service was okay. The food was horrible though. It seemed as if they cooked the food in old oil. The shrimp was over cooked and the fries way too salty.

We waited 15 minutes to be sat at a table in the back, by the freezing cold exit door. All the while being stared at and ignored by servers and other employees. We waited more than 20 minutes before getting up and leaving. We NEVERRECEIVED A DRINKORDER. No one cared enough to do their job and ask us if we’d been taken care of. No one. A business that completely runs on returning customers should really learn to take care of their guests rather than ignore them. I’ll gladly be taking our business to Chili’s.

Eventually spoke to someone stated that I needed to leave my stroller at the front of the building. I said well no, previously I didn’t need to and by the looks of it you’re not busy? She stated that it was a fire hazard. We were seated directly in front of the«stroller parking section» Moments into being seated another family walked past us with a stroller(the exact same size) to be seated. Our server did apologize for the floor around the tables being nasty, even though they weren’t busy

Small portions. Bad service. Never will be back. No one goes there. This place use to be great. What happened?

They advertise Carside to go but they won’t provide the service. They are at the mall and have three designated spots but say that you have to come inside to get it. Fine with me if you didn’t advertise car-side. I’ve ordered it twice. Both female bartenders were rude and short on the phone and at pick up. Find a new job if you’re that unhappy. Management needs to get ahold of this place.

Like all Applebee’s this place was hood all around. From location, to customer service and quality of food. I don’t dine at Applebee’s anymore bc of the continuous dissatisfied experiences i have every time i go. But i went to this one bc i went to Independence to visit a friend. If it wasn’t for my friend i wouldn’t have stepped foot in this awful place.

Just a casual and frequent stop into Applebees turned into a huge ordeal that dictated most of the conversations the rest of the night. What happened was absolutely unnecessary. We came into the corporate operated Applebees to discover a whole new menu with reordered items and different pricing. Okay, the new menu is different, but everything else is pretty standard, especially living near Applebees corporate headquarters. The first check against this place was the noticeably agitated waitress who had zero interest in explaining the changes to us. Never have I had such an uninvolved and disinterested service from an Applebees wait staff. After receiving the 3 appetizers that we ordered, and had it plopped down almost in the same breath as her leaving, we automatically noticed that they were a third of the original serving size. The garnish was missing and the drinks we ordered in the very beginning were still not delivered. We were one of three small tables in that side of the restaurant and she didn’t seem new to her job. When there was a finally a reason for the first bite check in she was a no show. Upon the drink drop off I quickly caught her to bring what usually came with the chicken quesadillas: sour cream and lettuce. She agreed and came back with just the lettuce, remarking that the sour cream cup is 59 cents extra. We then decided to make sure this order was under their new 3 for $ 11 deal seeing as our experience so far was sub par. This was when we find out from the waitress in an argumentative voice, «if you would’ve ordered that, it should’ve been half that size.» At this point, I looked at my food, saw i had eaten half and then told her she take the rest back. Manager time. What ultimately drove the Applebees experience to never going back level was how the manager immediately confronted us. Mind you, I have never been one to complain. The manager greets us with, «So I’m hearing you want something different now?» Then what proceeded was a monologing explanation of the changes and how it was a corporate decision to theoretically cheapen the food without changing the price. After of about 10 or so minutes of this and how we kept reiterating that we did not want anything for free, simply just what we originally ordered, he let us know that he would go ahead and«fix» the ticket price to what it originally was supposed to be and acted like he was doing us a huge favor by letting us keep the food we already had at the table. wow. Needless to say, we are never returning to that location after our first visit and it left a dirty taste in our mouth for Applebees in general.

I have been to many Applebees and this ine by far is the worst. To start off we went this past sunday and the food was horrible right along with the service. My dad never complains about his food but he did this time and for him to complain has to be pretty bad. His, my mom and my sisters food came out ice cold. My husband’s entrée came out first, his mashed potatoes that came with entrée never came out. My mom just sent hers back because of the problems she had with hers. It was just a mess. The only good thing that happened was the mgr came out and credited my dad and sis and we got free ice cream… woo hoo free ice cream… Not.

Got the«Fiesta Chicken Chopped Salad» which is just lousy! There’s nothing spicy about the jalapeño dressing. It’s a waste of time eating.

It’s always just ok! Our waiter was extremely nice! The spinach & artichoke dip was decent but obviously store bought or frozen. Our entrees were not the best. I got the mexican lime chicken which was a chicken breast with a little bit of melted cheese & sat on top of a handful of tortilla strips(why? I asked myself the same thing.) Served with some«mexican rice» which was just plain rice. I was still hungry afterwards & for $ 10 I’ve experienced way better. My husband ordered the steak & over the top sweet shrimp — it’s their new honey shrimp. His food was basically drowning in this sauce that was so sweet that if you let it sit long enough it would have made hard candy. Just over the top boring & disappointing dishes. For $ 24 I guess you can’t complain? Uh hell ya you can! LOL!

Applebee’s Bar and Grille in Independence on 39 th street inside the Indep. Center Mall. I love to go here for the after 9pm Happy Hour! Half Price Drinks and Appetizers! My favorite is The Spinach and Artichoke Dip and fresh Chips! And my drink is The Long Island Tea! The staff are great waitresses and waiters bartenders are Excellent! You never have to ask for a refill or a menu they’ve got it taken care of! The other food on the menu is all wonderful I’ve never had anything I didn’t like. It’s always hot and fresh. I’ve seen some steaks I’ll have to try. And even the regular priced items aren’t expensive and you get a good size proportion. I definitely will recommend it to family and friends! Thanks and keep up the good work! Deanna

The only thing that the Applebee’s at Independence Center has in common with every other Applebee’s in the country is that it is called Applebee’s. Just imagine every bad experience you’ve had with this chain and you have Applebee’s at Independence Center. My sister-in-law and I like to spend a few hours at the mall every now and then and we sometimes eat here. Each sitting at this location has gotten progressively worse than the last. We walked in and we’re asked if we wanted Applebee’s Express. I guess this is a new service where you order & pay at the front and take a number. Like at the food court. We said we just wanted to sit and eat like at a normal restaurant so the host, after asking us several times if we were sure about our decision, pointed us to the back of the restaurant. We were stopped by another host and she asked us, again, if we were sure we didn’t want to use the Applebee’s Express service. My SIL and I really didn’t give a shit as long as we could sit, eat, & chat so we said okay. Whatever it takes to get a table and eat. She turned us around back to the first host who then awkwardly said several times, «I don’t want to make you guys do something you don’t want to do.» Geez, it’s just food, right? Whatever. We ordered our food, paid for the meals, and then took our numbers. Oh, and while my SIL was ordering her food, a waitress was sweeping the front lobby we were standing in. She literally was sweeping 2 inches from my feet. I had to move so she could keep sweeping. How about you stop for 1 minute while we order? My food came out after a two minute wait. I ordered a medium 7 oz sirloin. No way was this freshly made. The wilting bits of parsley on my steak does not convince me otherwise. My entire plate was a brown color palette. The description of the meal said the steak is served on a bed of cooked onions. This steak was served on a bed & spring mattress. So much onion. The steak was almost inedible due to the extreme salty marinade it was sitting in. Everything on my plate was dripping with this nasty juice — the 4 quartered pieces of potato, the well-done steak, the California King bed of onion, and the mushroom cap with my depressing spinach. My SIL’s food came out 5 minutes after mine. She ordered a plain cheese quesadilla as she is vegetarian. She received a cheese quesadilla with bacon. I asked her if she wanted to send it back but she didn’t want to bother. She just ate her side of broccoli. While we were eating one of the waitresses on break sat at the booth across from us. Every minute or so a new waitress would come over and talk loudly about whatever restaurant drama was going on. We were seated between the front counter guy and a table of waitresses however I had to ask loudly(because I didn’t know who our waitress was or if we even had one) for a to-go cup. The guy at the front counter yelled at someone else across the restaurant to get me a cup. This place is a mess. They should close this location and let a different franchise run an actual restaurant instead of this pathetic food kiosk.

First, for full disclosure, I worked for this company for many years in restaurant management, corporate training(new store openings) and IT. For a Wednesday night, the place was empty. The Hostesses were disorganized and with many empty tables had a hard time figuring out where to put our party of 4. First red flag: Manager is at the next table and tells the group there«I saw it, and I wouldn’t have served it to you in the first place.» Don’t know what it was or what made it bad, but, this was not a good way to start off our meal. We each ordered different plates of food. My Burger was good, but the fries were not fresh. A common problem at Applebee’s. The Fry cooks prepare a larger volume of fries than they need, then they sit and get soggy. My wife ordered an appetizer sampler that included the grilled chicken wonton tacos. When they arrived, the wontons were burnt. Badly. We called the manager over and his response was unacceptable on several levels. Again, keep in mind that I managed restaurants for this company for many years. First, his response was that yes, they were burnt but that they had all been prepped that morning so all the wontons they had were burnt as well. This means that: A) He knew before we called him over that all the wontons were burnt. B) He allowed them to be served anyway. C) He couldn’t or wouldn’t be bothered to have his fry cook drop fresh wontons into the fryer, which would’ve taken all of 90 seconds. He offered to replace them with another item from the sampler platter, but even that took much longer than it should have. The company as a whole continues to go downhill with no turn around in sight. As a former employee, with a lot of personal loyalty to the executive who runs both Applebee’s and IHOP… its very disappointing.
