Central American cuisine is their specialty, but they also serve Mexican food. Don Lucho’s serves the«Mexican Coke» which is sweetened with natural cane sugar instead of HFCS, so we’re off to a good start. I see a freezer with standard American single package ice cream like you would find In a gas station, no mexican ice creams, take that as you will. This restaurant is also a carniceria or meat market I have been told. I’m excited to see what they serve up. Ok, we just finished our meal. The taco’s were excellent! They were cantina style tacos with meat, onions and cilantro. They had a double corn tortilla, which was the softest, freshest I’ve ever tasted. Both the shredded chicken and cubed steak variations were delicious. They gave us a generous amount of limes with every entrée and it definitely enhanced the flavors. The refried beans were almost black, they were so dark they must have been made with black beans and they were tasty. The rice looked very plain, but again I was surprised with the amount of flavor, but it wasn’t overly flavored. I’ve never tasted rice quite like this, but I enjoyed it. I’m glad we tried this restaurant. I love it when you gamble on a hole in the wall and it pays off. Long live adventure.
