I love the setup of the studio. There is plenty of space to move around. Might have to have s hand on small kids because art work on easels. Good lighting. Lady running and the and owner have such big hearts.

Primary Colors is an art gallery located on The Square. The front is the display area where a different artist is featured about every six weeks or so; and the back is a workspace where classes are held. Choose your medium, subject, and style, and schedule for your class a week ahead of time, and they will lead you through your project. Supplies are furnished. Prices, currently(May 2013), are $ 10 per child, $ 15 per adult, per hour. It may take more than one session to finish your project. Mediums offered include: Watercolor, oils, acrylics, soft pastels, oil pastels, graphite, and colored pencils. Select a subject: Portrait, landscape, animals, still life, or non-objective. Pick your style: Realism, cubism, impressionist, abstract, pop art, or collage. Summer Camp will be offered for kids ages 6 through 18. Four-day sessions(Tuesday-Friday) will be held for each age group: 6 – 8, 9 – 11,(10 – 11 a.m., $ 50); and 12 – 14, and 15 – 18,(10 a.m.-noon, $ 100) … starting with the 6 – 8 year-old group the first week of June, 9 – 11 year-olds the second week, 12 – 14 year-olds the third week, and ending with the oldest group the fourth week of June. The gallery will also rent out their studio space for Art Parties for birthdays, wedding/baby showers, meetings, etc. Contact the gallery director for details. Paint & Wine Palette Nights are held on Fridays from 6 to 8 p.m. for participants 21 and older. Enjoy wines from Café Verona and Ophelia’s while you work on a 9“x12″ acrylic painting on gallery wrap canvas. You may bring your own appetizers, or order in from Independence Square restaurants. The cost is $ 45 per person, and reservations must be made by the Tuesday before each class. Classes must have a minimum of five participants, and a maximum of 15. Details on all these creative opportunities are available from the gallery. A small, but high quality, selection of art supplies is available at Primary Colors. I wish they offered more … that’s the reason for the missing fifth star. A friend and I took a class in watercolor painting, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The instructor demonstrated, and taught us a number of techniques that we are now able to use in making original paintings of our own. She was very patient, and gave us each individual attention. We came out of our lesson with paintings that we were glad to be able to frame and display in our homes. For more information, see their website:
