Calo Jero’s Deli and Pizza

1^st visit I ordered a blt and fries. The bacon was precokked maybe turkey bacon. Not fresh cooked bacon. I didn’t like it. Fries for days though. 1 order is enough for three. So next visit I got soup o the day and a salad. The potato soup was good but could have partially canned. The salad was enough for four servings. About a pound of cold cuts. Large sliced veg and day old sliced tomatoes. Iceburg lettuce cucumbers green onions and a pound of sliced onions. I don’t think they have a good idea of what a salad should be or what a single serving salad should cost. Lunch for two was almost 40 bucks. That’s a scam for what we got for the money. You need to pull back on the portions and make the place valuable. You’ll see more people. Cashier was super nice

Clean place but rude owner and cheap ! His fountain diet syrup ran out which mskes the coke taste terrible. But, instead of trading me a bottle of soda, this fella charged me extra. Next, my cheeseburger had no cheese. It had all melted away. Mcdonalds is half the price and better. Not what I wanted after a long work day. They only stay in business because nothing else is, nearby.

I ordered the cheesesteak sub and it was decent. It would have been awesome if the cheese was melted and there was a little more steak. I asked for a little salt and pepper to go along with it and it was ok. It wasn’t greasy which is a plus :-) Not amazing but not bad :-D

The owner is really nice and pleasant all the time. It’s always kept nice and clean… There are just a few things I don’t like…
They don’t deliver (for safety reasons) but it’s still kinda stinks… They keep changing cooks… The pizza and Italian hoagie/​sub (depends on where you’re from) and fries are the only thing I will eat from here… I’ve tried mostly everything on the menu beside desserts and it doesn’t taste all that good. Pizza is so so cause they put way to much cheese on its not all the way melted if you get a topping. If you have to get a pizza stick to just cheese.

If it’s a good pizza made with good ingredients you are barking up the wrong tree. Sandwiches and subs? Maybe. The highlight of my meal, if there was one? A faux Greek salad. Iceberg lettuce, sliced plum tomatoes, cucumbers and onions. Some cubes of feta I believe is what made it Greek. Or the Italian dressing. That’s in the Mediterranean Sea right? Real close to Greece. But the makings were very fresh and didn’t have the sweaty refrigerator taste other places like this have. Just another good place bought out by Asians and hacked into a money project. Nice people here but maybe a poor choice of ventures for them.

This place used to be good but has really went down in quality. Food used to be great. I think theyre also under new management. Food was bland… ordered a veal parmesan sub and gyros and both were bad quality using cheap ingredients. Its expensive and the food is frozen and tastes processed. Dont go here.

Ok so I’ve been going here for years about 10+. Food I can say is an actual 3.5 maybe even 4 considered it’s in an extremely small country like town. The portions are large for minimal cost. However, service here is horrible. The owners who usually are the ones who take orders are extremely rude. I’m not sure if against a particular race. They don’t smile, make very little eye contact and almost make it seems like they rather not have people of African American decent dine there… Yet the area is pretty mixed as far as race as well as income. Granted there are some less than flavorable people who do live in the area but that’s the area it’s country…
Anyway, I call my order in a chicken tender salad. I get there tell the male owner my order number. I’m looking on their counter and they advertise for a rotisserie chicken salad. As I’m hanging over my card for my order «I say oh I didn’t know you guys had a rotisserie chicken salad is that new? Is it on a new menu? He replies «you order chicken finger salad, we make already, you pay»… Huh??? Um I didn’t ask to change my already made order while giving you payment, mind you I’m pointing to the advertisement while asking… I calmly say «oh no, I’m not changing my order I was just wondering if it was new, and how much is it» I continue «with asking if it’s sliced/​diced like the chicken Caesar and is it all white meat» again the man says «do you want your food or not» he has my card in hand. What the what??? So I do get a little more aggressive and say clearly and slowly «I am obviously trying to pay for the food I ordered, if you were listening I asked about this advertisement, I am simply asking questions about food items you seem to be providing. So with all that said you have yet to answer any of the questions I have asked to potentially sway me into sending more money at your establishment tomorrow or the next day» of course he could just look at me.
I had to write a review because of their continuos lack of customer service. Living in a small town like this you pretty much start recogizing people who give trouble after coming to a place over 10+ years I expect better service. I can only imagine what type of service someone would get if they where coming from out of town.

So this is a 3.5÷4 star review… Not a huge choice of places to eat in Indian Head :) There were about 9 of us rolling in for lunch and we were a pretty rough group LOL lots of jokes and a bit loud!
Positives
Older gentleman took all of our orders and was a really good sport, tossing back jokes at our guys when they were a bit saucy :)
Place was clean
Food was done quickly
I had a grilled cheese and was very happy :) good ol flat top doesn’t fail, no one was disappointed with their meal
Negatives
Nothing really… it a decent place, food isn’t amazing but solid for basically fast food
The gentleman up front was so funny and in good sports he really knocked the place up a notch.

Good food and friendly people. Not a big fan of fast food but we go there fairly often.

Good food. The stromboli is huge. Can easily be shared between 2 to 3 people. Cheesesteak subs are great.

Good NY style pizza, steak subs are good too. Friendly service.
I took them down a peg. They change something, with the pizzas. I have not been back in months. Bummer!

There fries are horrible & they try and mask it with obey seasoning… I think not… they tasted like old potatoes that is just waiting to be used… Ewww I get my fries from Goodies so good. yummy

Surly staff and generic food straight from the truck. But passable to avoid a longer trip to a chain or to avoid redneckery at other Indian Head places.

food is made of some of the worst ingredients available. If you don’t order ahead of time than prepare to wait.
However the Romain lettuce and chicken are delicious. Pizza is good if you can survive it.
