I have shot in different scenarios before but never in an indoor range. My wife and I both had groupons and experienced nothing but nice attitudes and good people. They were super helpful talking to my wife about trying different rentals so we wouldn’t waste our groupons. The range is clean and very well ventilated. The do not allow rapid fire so it is good for new shooters to feel comfortable. The rifle range is 25 yds but you can still shoot pistols on it too! I will be back and I will continue to shoot here when I want a nice controlled environment to shoot and be safe! I recommend this range to anyone!

When you walk in… stop and get signed in! This includes signing the waiver and getting your payment info in the computer. I didn’t see any signs and no one stopped to tell me before I went all the way to the shooting range. Allow yourself 30 minutes if it’s your first time to sign in, watch video, have your guns checked and general info. You can not bring ammo in unless it’s in the original packaging. I heard some pricing on the ammo there and it didn’t seem too far out of line. Two people, same firing lane, rifle/handgun lane and 5 targets was $ 39 for an hour. Place is laid out well with plenty of guns throughout the large showroom. Prices on guns are a little more expensive than I’ve seen. They have a lounge area to sit down. The guys that work were really helpful and nice.

Decent range with respect to the facility. Biggest pro, wider than typical bays and they have a full size shooters rest you can drag to your bay. Biggest CON: Their prices are insane with lots of unmentioned add-ons. $ 5 surcharge for rifle, 10 min over, pay another hour.(granted that’s fair but you get no warning light like other ranges). Someone else mentioned guns prices, I agree they are ridiculous. In short, Charlotte has lots of range options, Ballantyne need to rethink their business model if they want to complete.

Dad and I are members. Always very good service. Just get confused on who we report to, who we pay, etc. we have to check in/out with 3 different people when visiting the range. My recommendation is to streamline this process a bit. ID card to scan would be helpful.

Range is nice because its brand new. Firearms are hilariously overpriced. Folks that work the showroom are nice. Range safety officer is hit and miss. However, it’s like the rules change every time I go there. The first time we went we were told we couldn’t use fmj ammo, so we were forced to but their in house more expensive tmj ammo. The second time we were able to use our fmj ammo and shoot at whatever distance we wanted with pistol or rifle. This last time we were told we could only shoot rifles at 25 yards. Unfortunately didn’t have my magnifier with me so it was a complete waste of time. Not to mention charging 28 bucks for 1 target and 35 minutes of shooting is ridiculous. I’ll go to the new point blank in Matthews from now on where I get an all day pass for the same price and no crazy restrictions on distance or rate of fire.

The Range at Balantyne is one of the better ranges I’ve been to. The first downside is having to pay extra to shoot FMJ. I have never been to another range that makes you pay extra to shoot normal ammo. It’s «fair» because they do have this written in the fine print… still feels a little wrong. The second downside is the store prices. All guns are at full MSRP. They have good taste wth a decent selection. If you don’t mind paying extra… then buy here.

You pay extra for the location and atmosphere in this range. I am okay with that and have been four/five times. However, on top of paying more, we have also been nickled and dimed for things that other ranges don’t charge for. Once, we were forced to use a lane in their room with an upgraded filtration system because of the type of ammo we brought. Today, we were asked to buy a $ 6 target holder that we could hand back in for a credit. The reason for the target holder is that customers«were shooting their equipment.» Then… we went to put our name on a waiting list for a lane. When I asked how long the wait would be, the guy rolled his eyes and said he didn’t know… a «half hour… maybe an hour?» I have never had a simple time getting a lane here. Today was just my last attempt at enjoying it. Shooting at this range is always a process… they have overcomplicated the process, making it frustrating, more expensive and more time consuming for the customer.

Great staff, great options and a nice place to shoot. They have a great club room for events and many guns to choose from.

Bright and well lit showroom with several cases of pistols and a few displays of long guns available for purchase but I already have all the hardware I need, thanks.(Don’t tell my wife that or she’ll hold me to it.) The pistol range is nice and airy with decent insulation and baffling so that you’re not constantly sucking down cordite and pressuring your ear drums with gunfire. Nice target retrieval system that worked quite well and I liked the walls of the pistol bay to keep the guy’s .45 next to me from being too loud. Clean floors and easy sweep for brass. Range prices are a little high at $ 19/hour but it is what it is. They have a pretty healthy collection of range pistols that can be rented for a few bucks too. I only wish this place was closer to me. *sad face*

Absolutely love shooting here. I feel safe and respected. I find the staff to be friendly to the extreme. I was there opening day and purchased a year membership a month later. This is a place to shoot and learn to shoot. If you need minor help they are there. If you need a little more guidance than most, you can pay for some private lessons or to take a class at your skill level. In response to Mike P.; You obviously didn’t read the range rules, which is posted online and posted inside the store in multiple locations. Yes, it’s all about that bass! Money for smoke, noise and smiles. The Second Amendment is a right, so purchase, practice and stock up. «The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.» Thomas Jefferson Thank you to the staff for a little elbow room on occasion, again I love shooting here. Not impressed with these scam artists. I went to The Range at Ballantyne for the first time yesterday. After I got checked in and watched the safety video, I had to wait 10 minutes while they figured out which lane another customer was on so they could charge him. It was like watching the three stooges use a computer for the first time. Once I got on the range, I was happy to find that it was state of the art and had a good 30 minute shooting session using a pistol. Then the bait and switch happened. It is supposed to be $ 19/hr pistol, $ 25/hr rifle. When I was rung up, it came up as $ 25/hr. They said because I used FMJ I was charged the rifle rate. Pistols rate is only allowed if you use Total Metal Jacket(TMJ). Not once was this brought up until it was time to pay. Because they only allow full hour sessions and after tax, my 30 minutes of shooting pistol cost $ 27!!! NEVERAGAIN!

The range at Ballantyne is conveniently located on Harrisburg Rd in Indian Land. Long awaited and needed for this area. In the past you had to drive up to Matthews for a professional range if you didn’t want to go all Desperado and shoot in your backyard(local laws may apply). Place recently opened and I must say they did it right. It is gorgeous on the inside with all the things you’d expect at a high end firing range. Cases of handguns for sale, apparel, and accessories. I came for the range and was greeted by a member of the staff who took time to explain to me and my friend the deal and checked us in to the shop. We had to provide our drivers licenses and sign the standard waiver. We then went into the range area where we were greeted, once again by another member of the overly friendly and helpful staff who explained everything and asked us to watch the 7 minute long range info video before we went to our lane. After the video we got our eye and ear protection, targets extra ammo and off we went. Because of the type of ammo I had we had to go to the rifle range. We were escorted in by a member of the staff and shown around. They have the live fire video target system in the pistol bays which was cool and I will be trying on my next visit. Each bay has a camera so that the Range Officer can watch what’s going on and make sure everything is happening as it should. This place is focused on safety which is wonderful. I’ll say it again. The staff here couldn’t be more welcoming, friendly and professional. They have a lounge which I found in the brochure afterwards, lessons and training classes which will offer all types of courses. They even offer team building and can host corporate events which is something different for people to consider. All in all I am happy that the Range at Ballantyne is right in my backyard. It offers an affordable, safe place for me to fulfill my inner Eastwood.
