I joined a gal pal here for a fellow gal pals husbands band who was playing here.(Still following me?) Anywho! This is the dive bar to end all dive bars. It was everything you expect with a dive, low prices, less of a crowd, but the vibes here were killin it! I went for an event to benefit Flint, MI and so several bands were taking to the stage but it was all great music and none of the regular boring music you here at other live music venues in the city. I’m not going to lie, I was 110% sober, and it was the best bar experience I’ve had in a long time. Can’t wait to check out more bands and bring my friends to check out this cool little place!

We were here to see a buddy’s band and photograph the event. The parking lot is small(get there early for best parking) and the interior has seen better days. The restrooms had interesting graffiti as you would expect in this type of establishment. There were tables(bar heighth) and chairs and room for a dance floor. The stage is raised and is in a corner to take advantage of space, sound and lighting. The venue has a patio for warmer weather. There is an upstairs that doesn’t seem to be in sue. The sound was pretty good for this event. The ceiling is about ¾ covered in band posters which is sort of cool. There is a long list of now famous bands/singers who have played on that stage. The bar had the standard fare and some local brews. What they didn’t have was any type of snacks or food. It was a fun evening but I’m only going back for a really good act. It’s not a place I care to hang out in on a regular basis.

This place treats people like absolute garbage. It’s overpriced, the staff is rude, and they treat the bands who bring the income for the establishment like ass. I’ve played there several times and have never enjoyed myself due to these factors. Avoid this place!

Prince played here once. So did Nashville pussy. Great spot for a beer and a band. You probably have a friend that’s in a band that plays here on the reg. might as well go see them so they can see what they’re always promoting. Owners are great people too!

quintessential rock and roll dive bar. Excellent sight lines — you will be CLOSE to any band you see. Acoustics are solid, the sound doesn’t get lost or boomy. Excellent beer selection and reasonably attentive bartender. If an act that you like is playing here, GO!

I’ve been to Birdy’s as a performer, and as an audience member. It holds a special place in my heart because it is owned locally and I’ve seen some amazing shows here over the years. The beer selection is pretty good — not the best in Indy, but certainly not the worst. There is a lot of potential here.

Birdy’s is an average venue. No draft beer. Typical bottle selection. The staff is old and moves slow. Not enough parking. The sound was pretty terrible at the show I saw. Not sure if that’s the venue’s fault, though. Birdy’s is only as good as the show you’re seeing. Again, Birdy’s is an average venue.

I went here for the first time recently and left thinking it is a decent place to see a show. A good time was had by everyone and the bartenders were better than most. I had Bells in bottles and the fella drank Guinness. $ 5 and $ 7 each. Glad that it is now a non-smoking venue but perhaps it’s time to erase the evidence that it was a smoking bar(rent a boom and clean/paint the ceiling fans!).

Searching for someplace you can get PBR in bottles AND cans? How about bottles of Schlitz, Little Kings, and Stroh’s? Well… you just found it. This is a fairly large music venue. The stage is located in a corner, most of the area is standing room only. There are large TV screens so that you can see the show from where ever you’re standing. There’s a second story too… a mezzanine? So there are 2 viewing levels. There is very little seating and the place was PACKED on the night we went. Plan on holding your drink and«milling about» during and between sets. I was in awe of the filth on the ceiling fans, vents, and the ceilings themselves. I have seriously never seen anything like it. You’ve heard of dust bunnies? These were like… dust yaks. Really gross. It made me wonder what else NEVER got cleaned. Sound was pretty good. People were pretty friendly. The parking situation sprawled into the lot next door and the K of C lot across the street. As a bonus, it’s pretty much across the street from House of Cheung.

Definitely not what it used to be. Ran into some of the rudest employees I have ever seen at a music venue during my last visit… Don’t know if it was an off night, but I won’t be going back. The owners must have given away money and alcohol to get people into the bar for the picture on Facebook, because it was completely dead when I was there.

For some reason, Birdy’s is one of the only small/indie live music venues in Indy, so I often find myself here when my favorite musicians are on tour. The biggest con is that smoking is allowed in the venue, and the room is usually FILLED with smoke, to the point that my eyes and lungs are burning for days after I spend a few hours here. Thankfully I only make it here a few times a year. The sound/acoustics are nice, the staff are friendly and they are good to the musicians who come though. I have had some good times at this place and never hesitate to make the drive down from Chicago when a good act is on the calendar.

I have a love hate relationship with Birdy’s. It IS a cool place to see live music… depending on who is running sound. If their regular sound man is working, the sound is spot on and stellar;. If you happen to be there on a night when he’s off, the sound can be nothing short of terrible. You got to take your chances. Their beer seems to be a bit overpriced, but the gate fee for even national touring acts is below average… so I suppose it all balances out. The people behind the bar have always been friendly, if a bit harried, but the place has a «dirty» feel about it to me. Still, I’ll go back if one of my favorite bands is playing, so for that it get’s an A-OK rating from me. But, this town seriously needs more non corporate music venues!

Firstoff, I feel that it’s necessary to establish an acroynym: YUTI( Unilocaling.Under.The.Influence) Feel free to use and share this. Make it the acronym of the people. **Can’t leave home without the following when heading to Birdy’s(this list is quite possibly dependent on who is performing that night — we were visiting for a friend’s band, Urbanites. If Coldplay, The Fray and Kings of Leon had a baby — it’d be the Urbanites. They put on a good show.): 1.) slouchy cardigan and/or Urban Outfitters Flannel(don’t be misled, I love a good flannel, just not one that is worn for the sake of a trend) 2.) Keds/Toms 3.) Once there, Pabst Blue Ribbon Yes, I’m saying«hipster» without actually saying«hipster» — oops, there, I said it. LOVE: –casual, messy, garage-like feel, the band stickers and dirty writing on the bathroom stalls DISLOVE(Yeah, I said it — consider me a crafstman of words and acronyms): –smoking(this problem will be solved as of 6÷1÷12) –Pretty darn over-priced in the book of beers: 2 Bells Oberons and 2 woodchucks: a whoppin’ $ 22 We’ll be back. Next time we’ll have the price of brewskis in mind prior to our arrival.

Not the most well kept venue but there’s been some great bands that have passed through and the sound is always spot on. Cheap drinks and cover will keep u coming back.

Birdy’s is really nice. Great open venue with lots and lots of shows throughout the week at a really good price. I think they should have something for everyone. Downstairs bar was a liitle crowded as well as the 2 stall restroom. But, great music, good price, fun times.

In a non-descript part of northern Indy lives a non-descript, but pretty decent live music venue called Birdy’s in what is essentially a steel sided barn. the main space holds about 400 and is perfect for a mid-sized show. there is a main bar and a beer booth on the floor, and then a staircase that leads to a loft-like pool/dining room and another bar. they also have a small outdoor patio with 8 foot fencing. It made me feel a little caged in out there so, i quickly turned around and got a beer. they have the usual beer selection and a couple microbrews(it was nice to be able to get some Bell’s Oberon). Everyone was super friendly there, from the guys at the door, to the bartenders, to the people in the crowd. One guy even gave up his seat so i could sit at the ledge to eat my food. what a swell fella! yeah, they have some food, the usual suspects(burgers, club sandwiches) it was above average for a place like this i’d say, but definitely the sound was the highlight here. they also line the walls with posters from past shows. it’s only about halfway covered up right now. the beer prices were a bit higher than a normal bar but good for a dedicated music venue. the ticket price was unbeatable though. $ 7 to see Chamberlain, probably one of the best bands ever to come out of Indy, was definitely well worth it.

Birdy’s named after its owner, is one of Indy’s few ‘Indie’ live music venues. In a city known for corporate entertainment venues, Birdy’s has long-existed as one of the key live music spots, playing host to both hip hop and rock, local, regional and national. Known for good sound, its open sound can also make it loud, but with earplugs(standard for me and my over-exposed-to-loud-music ears), it sounds great. Real live and raw. Also a decent lighting setup on stage. There’s a pool room in back, an upstairs area with additional seating and another bar, as well as an outside back patio for escaping the noise. This stage has been blessed by many great performers over the years, and any local worth his/her weight has played here at least once at some point.
