It’s probably been a good 6 or 7 years since I stopped taking lessons here, but I doubt the quality has diminished since then but thought it worth mentioning. Nice, clean, and professional facility/studio. Very friendly owner(Long curly hair, name escaped me. Ed?) and everyone else working there seem very nice and professional from my limited exposure to them. Aside from that, my high score is primarily due to my instructor at the time, Shaan France. I was a little embarrassed and intimidated when I started taking lessons, partially because I decided to get started relatively late(in my 20’s) and saw a lot of kids and teens taking lessons for school band or whatever. Shaan made me feel very comfortable and reminded me that we’re all there for the same purpose: learning to do something we’ve always wanted to do. Age and skill level matters not, and everyone has to start somewhere. Within probably less than 2 years of taking weekly lessons, I went from barely being able to hold a stick, to reading music, playing basic beats, playing along to songs by my drum hero at the time(Dave Grohl) and then into more advanced stuff like mind-twisting latin beats and complex stick control exercises. As often as I got nervous about screwing up infront of this beast of a drummer, he never made me feel ashamed or insecure. Always had something new and diversely different for me to work on after mastering one thing. By the time I stopped lessons, I felt I could play almost any style, or at least have the tools to learn the things I didn’t know on my own. Awesome guy, amazing musician and teacher. Thanks to you, I was able to scratch off something near the top of my bucket list: play a live show to an audience with a good band. And I did, twice. Once at the White rabbit and another at Radio Radio. It was so nerve wracking that I may never do it again, but I can say I did it and it was all thanks to Shaan.
