As far as BMVs go, this one was A-OK! I was in and out with a new driver’s license(or the temporary paper copy anyway) in less than 40 minutes. And I also registered to vote in that time. I went in around 3:15pm in the middle of the week so that may have contributed to the timeliness. Oh pretty huge drawback what that the restroom was pretty rough, not at all a place one could comfortably prep for a new photo(why bother they all seem to turn out pretty bad). But really, I didn’t see a changing table, there were stains on the wall and floor, and the toilet paper dispenser was broken so the roll was wedged between the top of the toilet and a hand railing.

This review is based on the service I received, not the bureaucratic-laced wait time. Due to a knee injury, my orthopedist signed off on a form for a temporary placard for my car. This BMV was the closest to his office and my home. There were 14 people in front of me(not counting those who had appointments) when I signed in; it took nearly an hour to be processed. Part of the problem is that every transaction seemed to have to be double checked by a supervisor or coworker. Given the BMV’s recent issues, I guess that’s a good thing. However, I’m not sure how it adds to taxpayer efficiency when each clerk has their own printer at every station. Where I work, we swipe our badge to securely print. Anyway. Aside from the chairs that had no arms(difficult for gimpy me to get up from), once my number was called, the person I dealt with was friendly and efficient. The entire transaction probably took 5 minutes, including someone else double checking the paper work I brought from my doctor. I work in Fishers and since that branch has closed, I’d probably come back to this one the next time I need something since it’s the closest to home.

Seriously this has to be the best BMV in the city and I’ve been to many. Regardless which service you need from new plates, registration renewal or driver license goes quickly. The old days you spent hours and dreaded even the thought of going to the BMV. Of course being able to handle most services on-line has eliminated the need for a trip to the physical BMV. Now I never spend more than ½ hour here and today 10 minutes! If you can’t handle your BMV business online come here. This location is the first street off of Rockville Road, which is Mickley, just off of 465. The staff that has helped me was friendly, YES, friendly, fast and did a great job.
