I went to leasing office of canal square with my brother to check out two bedroom apartments on 12÷26÷15. Leasing consultant lady at the front desk seemed pretty unwelcoming and rude while asking about apartment details. We found that she had rude tone while communicating and wasn’t responding politely while asking about questions on community. I asked for drinking water and she replied«We do not have/keep water» in unprofessional manner which made me decide not to pursue any business with this apartment community. I quickly decided to move out. My customer experience was very bad, whenever I go to check apartments I expect good professional communication manner from apartment community representative. I have decided to never rent apartment from this community again. There are other communities by the canal if you are really interested in living by the canal within same price range or even lower and their representatives I found very professional, polite and welcoming.

I lived in Canal Square for a year and was overall really happy with my choice to be there. The location is amazing. It is a short walk to restaurants and bars downtown and it is right next to IUPUI campus and the canal walk. I love to go on runs and found that there were really nice options right around Canal Square– I could run around IUPUI campus, I could stick to the canal, or I could head up to the White River area. I lived in one of the updated 2-bedroom apartments. The kitchen had just been redone and had new counter tops. The bathrooms had also been updated. There was a washer and dryer in the apartment and those were clean and quiet. The apartments were well cared for and the complex was secure. I do wish there had been a system to buzz guests in the complex – especially in the winter. The online system for payment and maintenance requests was easy to use, safe and efficient. Every time I made a request for maintenance in the apartment it was completed that same day. This apartment building is relatively quiet– I rarely heard neighbors. However, the canal is not. I had a window right along the canal overlooking the steps leading to the building. People would sit on those steps or allow their children to play in the small water fountain on those steps. I would hear people out there talking and laughing through the night and really early in the morning. It was obviously worse in the spring and summer when the weather is nice and more people hang out along the canal. My roommate and I loved when it rained because people wouldn’t stop under our window and we got to sleep! Overall, I would recommend this complex. It is reasonably priced for downtown living, well-maintained and the location is excellent.

I know three people who live there and they seem really happy. I visit often and I think the property is really nice. It is really close to campus and they do a nice job maintaining the property too. Sorry to disagree with the other reviewer but I think if you put a deposit down and then don’t move in, then the deposit goes away. There is a cool work out center and the building seems very safe… for example, when I go visit it is VERY hard to get in unless they come down and let you in. Sometimes you can wiggle in with someone but they eye you up & down to make sure you«look like» a nice person. Apparently, I do! :) It is pricey but worth a look. hope this helps my fellow Unilocalers!
