Great Tamales! We moved here from Texas, and were missing access to Mexican cooking essentials and ready-made tamales. We were so excited to find Morelos, where we can buy tamales that are inexpensive, authentic, and delicious. We get a batch every few weeks for dinner. The pork is our favorite. Don’t be intimidated if you don’t speak Spanish. Many of the employees are bilingual, and the signage is too.

This is one of the best Mexican Markets in the city by far. This place is great for all your meals at home and for just a quick grab on the go. You can get just about anything you would expect from a Mexican market. I really appreciate the prices here as well every time I return to purchase.

This place is one of the best kept secrets in Indianapolis for tamales. They have them available seven days a week and cost $ 1.00 each. It also has a very good selection of items you need to cook real Mexican food. It’s not a huge store like Carniceria Guadalajara but it is adequately stocked. You can find all the dried chilies and spices you need to cook pretty much any Mexican dish. Knowing a little Spanish is helpful when you shop here or else you’re going to have to wait a minute until they find someone that speaks fluent English. They don’t have a restaurant per-say but they do serve a few items during lunch from a steam cart located next to the meat counter and it is quite good. Remember when you go there to ask at the meat counter for the tamales because they aren’t really advertised. Like most carnicerias the produce is a bit dodgy so I wouldn’t advise buying any there. But the meat counter is stocked with good fresh product. One drawback is how the Western Union service is located at the same register as checkout. So you can end up waiting too long to check out and get down the road. They need to move the wire transfer services to a dedicated register separate from the customer checkout.
