I’m very sad to report that the restaurant CLOSED. It was one of my favorites. We would go during the summer and sit on the patio. The margaritas were fantastic(ANDHUGE!) and the service was good. The food was good. No complaints from me. Definitely not over priced — $ 7.50 for an enchilada & tamale platter with rice and beans. And so much food you almost always have leftovers(especially after too much margarita!). Very family friendly and conveniently located. I’m from the Chicago area where excellent, authentic Mexican food places are easy to find. There just aren’t many here in Indy and this was one of the good ones. Now have to find a new place to go for my birthday!

It was pretty good. I ordered something wrong possibly, I say possibly because when reading«poblano sauce» I think of a pepper sauce, not so much a mole like I got. However, when I inquired about it, the manager came right over and offered to give me a new plate at no extra charge. I ordered a different enchilada with a different sauce name(can’t remember what it was now) and it was terrific, so I have no gripes other than I’m one of the very few that hates cilantro and they put it in their salsa just like the rest of the crazy world. Boy, will I be happy when THAT whole fad dies out.

The people who work here are incredibly friendly, respectful, and very customer service minded. This is a great Mexican restaurant but very different than the typical. The food is delicious and the presentation is beautiful. The restaurant is clean, the service is fast, and the prices are extremely reasonable. The atmosphere is nice but not what you expect for a Mexican restaurant — pretty average — but the staff and food make up for it. My family eats here quite often and we always have a great experience.

st time eating there and I ordered the tostado. It came with guacamole which I don’t like. I was unaware it came on it. I have never been to any other Mexican restaurants where they put it on the tostado. I asked for one without guacamole. Without any hesitation she brought me another one with out advising me there would be an additional charge. But when are bill arrived I was charged for it. I asked the manager and waitress about the charge and they both refused to remove it. I have never had this happen before. I will not be back due to the poor customer service. And all this was over $ 2.50!

Really friendly service and great food. It is a little more pricey than your typical Mexican food place, but the food is higher quality so it is worth it. They feature excellent drink and food specials every day of the week, so find what you really like to eat here and go on the night they feature your special. Don’t let the lack of cars in the parking lot fool you. This place is really good!

I couldn’t tell if this was a chain or not(looked it up, it isn’t). It is in the former home of a Max & Erma’s so it kind of has the feel of a chain. I would put Casa Grande somewhere between your local generic Mexican place(La Hacienda, Cancun) and a more upscale place like Adobo. Definitely a nicer, cleaner atmosphere than most generic Mexican but still a pretty standard menu. Nice touches are an interesting house made Ranch sauce that came out with the chips and salsa. The menu wasn’t totally generic, there were some good looking entrees that go beyond what most low end Mexican places put on their menus. I had a Carne Asada burrito that was pretty good, my wife had an interesting grilled Pineapple Shrimp Burrito with a mango sauce that she really liked. I wouldn’t go out of your way to check this place out but if you are in the«Greater Northside Mall Area» and want Mexican I would definitely recommend this before the crappy chains and Cancun…

This place has great food, but I’m not quite sure why it’s always so empty. The service could definitely be improved — -3 hostesses at the front door is overkill, especially when the waiter could be a little more animated and personable. The seafood chimichangas is delish!

We went to Casa Grande for the 1st time 4⁄17 upon entering the hostess was very friendly, our waiter was wonderful and made suggestions. Our meals were excellent and we were well cared for during our whole dining experience. The food is fresh and the presentation is very nice. The décor inside is very warm and inviting and YES we will go back and would recommend to friends/family

I usually try to avoid, but its close to my workplace so I get dragged in occasionally. You know, fast, easy, blah blah blah etc. Last week was one such occurrence — of me getting dragged in. The reason I avoid Casa Grande because the food is too salty and unimaginative and the service is average. $ 47(including tip) for 4 lunch specials and no alcohol — not a great value On the plus side the chips are about the best in town, so there’s that.

Located in the old Max and Irmas, it’s a typical american style mexican restaurant, but with a twist. The twist is that they made an effort to not serve the same thing that all the other places do. You get several standard dipping options with your chips and salsa and as a vegetarian, it’s exciting to see that their standard bean burrito, enchilada, quesadilla combo for vegetarians features… wait for it… veggies!!! spinach, mushroom, onions, honest to god veggies.

3.5 stars. I have been going here several times for dinner with family or big group. I prefer Casa Grande than the other chain Mexican restaurants in the city. They serve great food and good service. Most of the time the speed of service was fine. There were a couple of occasions that we experienced incredibly slow service and received no apology. I love their free chips with salsa and ranch dressing. Guacamole is good too. Their chimichanga is OK, it is not my favorite though. Their chicken dishes — I have tried a couple of them and they both taste good. The prices are high. I wish that they make the portion size a little smaller and lower the price. I have never been able to finish my meal. Kids meal is priced at $ 5.99 on average. It comes with soft drink only and no dessert. Skip the milk for kids, as they charge $ 2+ per 16 oz cup. Also skip the dessert. In summary, we had good dining experience.

I liked this place more than my wife; there is a wide selection on the menu; not just the standard tacos, fajitas, and burritos. Of the two times I ate here the entrees were tasty, the kids had food they liked, and the service was pretty good. You can get more interesting and fancy Mexican restaurant food, like chorizo-stuffed chicken breasts, various seafood dishes, etc. It’s kind of like El Sol in that respect, but better. I like the funky ranch sauce they provide in addition to salsa.

Casa Grande is definitely not horrible, and light-years beyond the«other» mexican chain restaurant down the street. I’ve been here twice– the first time was pretty good, the second was just. eh. Although, the second time I was in a party of 10, so I can’t really fault them for that. The food is good– the ranch-like sauce served with the chips is. different. Not bad, but I can’t see myself inhaling the entire bowl as I would with salsa. The chips are fantastic. I’ve had enchiladas both times and they were decent. Overall not a bad place, but considering this place isn’t exactly«local» to me, I’ll stick to my «local» in the Irv.

Several online reviews have complained about the prices here. Yes, higher priced than quickie Mexican like El Rodeo, but you get what you pay for. Service was excellent, even at 8:00 pm on a Tuesday. Food was spectacular. Taco shells crisp and fresh. Ground beef well seasoned. Just enough cheese. Tasty red enchilada sauce. Ask for a side of salsa roja for the tacos. Mmm. Hubby for the Aztec fish. Seafood was well cooked and tasty. Go here, keep this place in business!!! As to prices, didn’t check out hubby’s, but my combo 1 taco, 1 enchilada, 1 tortilla smothered in beef and cheese, and a huge portion of beans was $ 8.99. This would probably be around $ 6.99 other places, but the portion was a bit larger and again, super delicious. This may have superceded Cancun as my fav northside Mexican joint. If they can master enchilada suizas, I’ll die happy. P. S. The interior is very nice, recently remodeled.

This is a high-end Mexican restaurant. The bar drinks are overpriced. $ 5 for a Modelo? No way, José. However, the taste and quality of the food is outstanding. The complimentary ranch dressing with the chips and salsa is something different. Visit Casa Grande for special occasions only. The staff is friendly and pleasant.

When Max & Erma’s closed, we were pretty bummed. So whatever moved in next was already digging themselves out of a hole. Fair? No. True? Yep. Anyway, we visited Casa Grande this evening. The dinner special was Fajitas for 2 for $ 25, soft drinks included. Sounded like a pretty good deal. I didn’t pay much attention to the menu, so I’ll have to take a pass on reviewing their variety, selections, etc. The fajitas were great. It was a combo plate(shrimp, beef, chicken and pork) with onions, red and green peppers. It’s served with lettuce, diced tomatoes, sour cream, Mexican rice and refried beans. The meat was tender and had good flavor, the rice was light and beans were hot and cheesy! We also enjoyed the queso dip along with complimentary salsa and ranch dressing, which was unusual, and wasted on us. Total bill was $ 38 out the door. Really, my only complaint is that the decorator chose to add padding to the back of each booth. The padding looks great, but makes the booths really tight, especially in the bar. Or maybe I just need to eat less queso. :)

Interior doesn’t resemble a Max &Erma’s(what the building used to be) at all! Nice tile work; they are going for an upscale Mexican feel. Chips and salsa are good; they also served a small dish of a ranch dressing, which was weird. I tried the chicken enchilada lunch special, and the chicken was moist and tender. Standard Mexican rice on the side. My lunch companions got ticked when they ran out of regular Coke and were brought glasses of water instead of refills. «Who runs out of Coke?!» The booth upholstery offers entertaining squeaks as people get on and off the benches.
