City BBQ has some of the best brisket around and I really like their fries. They also have great sides, the green beans are absolutely delicious and so are the baked beans. I always look forward to going there and after I’ve eaten, I look forward to the next time. The staff there are always very friendly and make you feel welcome. In my opinion, you just can’t go wrong with anything on the menu.

My husband and I tried City BBQ for the first time last night and we were very impressed! The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful, the place was clean and the food was really good. We tried the Deluxe Sampler(I think that’s what it was called) and got mac and cheese and green beans as our sides. The chicken was so moist it glistened and tasted great! The ribs weren’t «fall off the bone» tender but they tasted pretty good(could have used a little less smoky flavor). The pulled pork and brisket were a little stringy but neither of us mind it that way and again, they both tasted great. The sauces were also very good and it was nice to have pickles and jalapeños with our meal. The green beans were amazing! And, don’t get me started on the cornbread! I am a sucker for good cornbread and it is really good here!!! Hubby had a Sun King beer(Lots of Hops) that he thoroughly enjoyed and loved getting a free glass with his purchase(a special they have on Wednesdays) and I had a bottle of cherry cola which is my favorite so we were both pleased with the selection of beverages. Our two main complaints were the mac and cheese had mushy pasta and a very strange taste and the peach cobbler(very kindly given to us on the house when we said it was our first time) tasted as if it was spoiled. All in all, a great dinner and City BBQ will definitely be put in our rotation of places to grab dinner.

Great Location. Superb Bbq. The family likes the variety! I like brisket, make mine naked!. they love the pulled pork and chicken. We all agree on the brushfire BBQ Sauce!.. It’s a mandatory stop with our visitors. Oh. The sides… Hush puppies are abundant and tasty. Great potato salad. Green beans. etc. By the way great benefits with their App as well. Thank you City BBQ. For a substantial, delicious meal. We will be back !

I feel sooooo deliciously full!!! OMG the brownie was a fluffy cake!!! No dinner tonight… This place is awesome, staff is great! Stepahnie from 6 months ago remembered me as the guy that ate and tried everything and loved it !! Love this place on «rib bone Tuesday«1.25 a piece, meaty and tasty. The original sauce from the totally stocked and rustic cool fix’ns station is excellent, the sweet bbq is a bit sweet for this BBQ lover. The baked beans are very meaty and tasty and the seasonal sweet potatoes casserole is a reminder of thanksgiving day! I will be back, hopefully not another 6 months, maybe on the way to the airport when I leave, only 15 minutes+/-!!

Corn pudding is awesome! Everything is good! I especially love the chicken! The pork sandwich is good, I love the hush puppies too. The tea and lemonade are both good. They have different kinds of pop in bottles too. Enjoy!

I am with a group of coworkers and we just stepped off the plane from Boston. We had no idea where to have lunch so we checked into Unilocal and it steered us correctly! Best Q we’ve had in a while, even better than what we had recently in Austin. The brisket was tender and the group favorite. The smoked turkey was stellar, pulled pork a bit salty but nothing a good sauce can’t cover. The chicken exceeded expectation, and ribs not too smoky and delicious. corn bread was just ok, should have gotten the corn pudding. Highly recommend getting the deluxe sampler. Get a little of everything, they say feeds 2 but can feed 3 easily for lunch. A note from my male coworker«check out the sign in the men’s room» sure to put a smile on your face. H

I was visiting from out of town(came for the 500) and one of our number was craving barbeque. I found this place and we gave it a go, and I’m glad we did. I got to try a little of everything and was pleased. I had the«More Cowbell» brisket sandwich(brisket, peppers, provolone on Texas toast), and a couple smoked sausages on the side. The sandwich was good and so was the sausage, but I was hoping for a more peppery bite to the sausage, like down in Texas, since that seems to be their primary influence here–(them sausages sure looked like Texas gut!). If that is how you like ‘em, give these a pass and stick with the brisket, which is excellent. The slaw ain’t bad, either! Sauce? I didn’t have time for any sauce but the spicy one, which absolutely rocked. But please do try the meat unsauced first, to get a good feel for what you’re eating. You may find it doesn’t need a thing; I went about 50⁄50 sauce versus«nekkid». There’s at least four sauces I saw that you can try out. My buddies went a little nuts on the order, so I also got to try pork ribs, pulled pork, chicken, cornbread… and more brisket! I saw decent smoke rings on all the meats. Sides, for the most part, were pretty standard. Mac ‘n Cheese was alright, I DID like the slaw(could have used more of that!) but mostly this stuff is the sideshow to the big show so don’t attach too much significance to them. I’m a sucker for peach cobbler, though, and they have a good ‘un here; just bring a friend in case you overload on meat and don’t have room!

This is definitely my favorite place to eat in the Avon/Plainfield area. I’ve been living out this way since December 2013 and was reluctant to stop since other choices in the area are commercial and don’t offer anything out of the norm. Thankfully, I stopped in one afternoon and have now become a regular. With this being my fourth visit in the last month, I’m more than satisfied with the different menu options I’ve selected. My favorite is the brisket. It’s cooked to a tender and juicy perfection! I’ve also indulged in their mac n cheese, which could stand more cheese on top, baked beans with brisket, fresh cut fries and peach cobbler that can be substituted as a side.

I am choosey on giving away five stars, as I consider it means the ulitimate best-it-gets-no-better-than-this. I’m not against that state of thinking for City BBQ. But still, I’m going to hold out on giving them five stars(for now) and let my frequent visitor status speak more starpower. I’ve had several items from them. My first experience with City BBQ was at a Unilocal Event(that I have yet to review… i’ll never be elite this way), and was immediately ready for a visit. They served pulled pork and mac& cheese, both of which were scrumptious. I stopped there within a few days after passing by the one in Avon with my sister. This time I tried their chopped brisket and enjoyed life in a cup of their lemonade. It was delightful as well. But one of the things that really made me feel BBQ-special is the fact that they have a serving bar of onions, pickles and heated sauces!!! Heated sauces??? Where do they do this at ? I loved it. Along with my brisket, I tried their corn pudding which was the perfect rendition of amazing!!! It had a lightly browned crust and was full of sweet corn yumminess. We ate plenty and had plenty of leftovers. When you dine in, you get the unlimited refill treatment, INCLUDING the lemonade. This was music to my soul and I enjoyed ever calorie filled gulp of their soury-sweet liquid lemon love!!! Since then, I’ve ventured back and forth as a regular between the 10th street location and the one in Avon when I’m with my sister. I have been alone, with my sister, with my sister and my niece, with my neighbors and great friends and perhaps even in my dreams with my shadow. I’ve dined on their ribs, the baked beans, mac & cheese, peach cobbler(which is enough for many leftovers if you are a party of one like myself), corn pudding, catfish, brisket, pulled pork, Lolo’s Pulled Pork sammich and the Mo’Cowbell sandwhich, which is their brisket served cheesesteak style. I will say that is something I won’t order again. It wasn’t nasty or anything. I just think it was mixing two worlds that don’t go together. I’d rather have my brisket on a piece of their good olé Texas Toast or one of those buttery buns they have. I love how if you’ve never been, they will give you a gracious sampling of the pork and the brisket. That’s the way you keep people coming back. YOu can also order and pay online, pick it up and then go home to turn on Grey’s Anatomy while you indulge in a backyard bbq in your bed. Hmmm, maybe you shouldn’t eat in the bed. Ok, the dining table. o. O But you will move to the bed soon after. What more can I say that I haven’t said except for see you soon City BBQ!!! Build one out north!!!

I’m a big fan of BBQ, but for some reason hadn’t gotten around to checking out City Barbeque in Avon yet. Our loss, apparently! We visited here with some family and ended up ordering a whole bunch of stuff — I think we tried all the meats and most of the sides. Nothing was really exceptional, but everything was very good. The pulled meats had a good flavor and were moist. The ribs pulled off the bone easily and weren’t tough or chewy. The sides were pretty standard with my favorite probably being the coleslaw. So, while we weren’t blown away, we’ll definitely be back next time we need a quick BBQ fix and don’t want to drive to Mississippi to get it.

Craving a brisket sandwich we ended up at City Barbecue. The service when you walked in was great. Placed our order and received within minutes. All items hot and the beef brisket cooked to perfection. One thing I always forget is that a side of fries is huge and enough for a family. My only suggestion and its minor would be to double check the condiment and sauce levels at the tables as ours was out and the hunt was on!

Having moved from Kansas City, I’m a big fan of BBQ. I was able to finally stop in to try City BBQ today, and I have to say, I was not impressed. The service was excellent and the staff were very friendly. The food came out promptly, as well. However, my Brisket sandwich was dry, bland, and tepid. My fries were also only lukewarm. I did not feel that my meal was made fresh. I would say these guys need to take more time preparing their food, and perhaps that means training their cooks. It didn’t really taste like seasoned, slow-cooked BBQ. More just like meat that had been heated.

I’ve been dying to try this place for some time now and was finally able to pop in. It was a lot more casual than what I expected, which was a bonus to me. You walk in and order at a counter and then pick up your food at the end of a separate counter. The pulled pork was deliciously tender and I love the fact that they have their 3 different sauces in warmers by the soda machine. I had the mashed potatoes and a salad as my sides. The salad wasn’t really fresh so next time I’ll probably skip it and just get the creamy Mac and cheese. I would say it is a great value for the cost and a really relaxed atmosphere. Great for lunch!

Love the Blues, so I was very pleased to hear it when we walked in. The meat’s good. Real good. Not quite Big Hoffa good, but alright. My skinny black kitty would be face down in the Mac&Cheese if he was here. My orange tabby — mowin’ down the brush fire BBQ sauce on a set of ribs. Me, I liked the potato salad. The bathrooms could be shinier. A little more service would be nice, even if it is a self serve joint. I thought the baked beans had a sour note to them, but my taster is a little off today. Over all, I’d come back, if for nothing else than meat, potato salad and Blues. I’ll leave my hat on and take some Mac&Cheese back to B.

I have to admit, I wasn’t sure what City Barbecue was all about. I drove past it for years with my nose held high, assuming it was some fast food barbecue experience. I only went upon the high recommendation of a friend. Boy, was I not disappointed. That was two weekends ago. I have since returned two more times with more friends to experience this great barbecue. The experience is great from start to finish. While ordering, receiving, and getting to eat is a fast food experience, there certainly is nothing fast food about the amazing taste and quality of what is being served. All barbecue is smoked on site. There is an array of «barbecue» friendly sides to choose from. Any combination of sides compliment the meats well. The workers and service people at this location are extremely friendly. Each time I have visited, my friends and I have sat within the restaurant for no less that three hours at a time. The restaurant is kept clean and stocked… ATALLTIMES! Restrooms are spotless, and more importantly, they smell clean. But it’s really all about the food, and that’s what makes this experience a great one. Each time I have selected the Deluxe Sampler. For just $ 24 and some change you get half a slab of ribs, a quarter of a chicken, a nice portion of pulled pork, and brisket, all seasoned and smoked to perfection. You also receive two sides of your choice, nice portions sizes, two large pieces of texas toast, and two mini cornbread loaves. This platter is more that enough for two hungry people. My wife and I share and have plenty to take home as well. We add a couple of regular drinks and spend $ 30 bucks. Great deal! You receive your food on large metal trays, then you walk around to a «fixings» areas stocked with chilled pickles, onion, lemon, butter, and you can even choose your favorite barbecue sauces that are heated. The tables are also stocked with a variety of sauces as well. I cannot express enough how great the food is and how wonderfully operated the restaurant is. My only complaint is that I can only hold so much food… but that gives me a great excuse to keep coming back. I highly recommend City Barbecue in Avon, Indiana to friends and family.
