Okay, I have to be honest. I will never, and I mean never, allow you in my home. I know. I know. You’re thinking to yourself«That’s great, Richard. I don’t even know you.» Point taken. My point is this… I’m an absolutely horrid housekeeper and, if I’m being honest, my standard for what qualifies as clean is pretty darn low. So, then. Why on earth would I feel compelled to write a review for a retail store? a dollar store? a chain store? I mean, seriously. How much can we expect from Dollar Tree? Quite simply, even by my incredibly low standards for cleanliness this Dollar Tree is an absolute pit. We’re not just talking chaotic shelves. We’re not just talking blocked aisles, though there were three aisles I could not pass through. Nope, we’re talking dirt. We’re talking ground in dirt on the floors. We’re talking a store so desperately in need of Joy and her Magic Mop that this dirt-friendly paraplegic actually felt uncomfortable. I get that dollar stores tend to attract a more casual, less concerned about decorum type of consumer. This? This was downright disgusting. I’ve shopped here before and it didn’t used to be like this in the past. While it’s never been fancy, it used to be a decent environment and certainly a clean environment. There was one employee working the cash register, one stocking shelves, and one who’d gone on a break. They were relatively friendly, but I couldn’t help but think«You’re doing an awful lot of talking considering you’re completely surrounded by filth.» The cashier, again relatively friendly, was eating some sort of dreadfully noxious chili-type thing from a plastic container while working the cash register. While I did get acknowledged, she didn’t stop eating or holding a side conversation with the«on break» employee. As I noted, three aisles were completely blocked and virtually every aisle was in the same condition — ground in dirt in the carpets, stained/torn carpet, chaotic shelves, and boxes(which I understand is part of shelving things). You have to work overtime to disgust me. I’ve worked in an ER for 10 years of my professional life and have dealt with every body fluid imaginable. I’ll take that over another trip to this Dollar Tree anyday. Never again.

A dollar, a dollar! Nothing’s more than a dollar! This means you better choose wisely, knowing that it can be sold for one dollar. I stopped in here to buy some filler for gift baskets & gift mugs. I figure why spend more than $ 1 for a couple ounces of paper that will be tossed, anyway? You know how when you’re in public, maybe shopping or whatever, and you just happen to be in an aisle with a weirdo? Like, someone singing the weirdest song to his/herself? Maybe singing what they’re doing? –(FTR, I do this, but usually at home or with friends) Do you ever feel compelled to respond? Is a response expected? What is even going on here? Yeah, well, this was an employee. From another aisle, I could hear the store manager yelling at another employee(the cashier, I think) about how the customers have ransacked the store, and there are two in the store right now and blah blah blah. It was extremely rude. It was still 30 minutes before their closing time. The store had probably no more than 5 aisles. And it’s rude enough to talk about customers in front of other customers, but to talk about customers in front of the same customers? The most appalling part? When I got to the check out, the cashier never acknowledged me(ie never said hi, how’s it going– nothing). She made a cell phone call halfway through my transaction/ringing process, obviously it was personal(about a text she received). Kept talking, even after I paid. Never said goodbye, thank you, nothing… She just kept talking on her cell phone as I walked out the door. Uh, do you WORK here?

Love places that are no surprises everything is $ 1 and cards are only $ 0.50 here. The cards don’t even state the price but rather a generic 2.50 or 2.80 price. Not a big store but they have great seasonal items, party supplies, things for gift bags, toys, party decorations that I would recommend. This store is my go to for decorations and containers. When making gift packages I always stop here to get containers for $ 1 that even wal-mart sells for at least $ 3-$ 5. Mylar balloons here are $ 1 and they always have fun seasonal items. If you are planning a themed party or a kids birthday party it’s fun to see what you can find. All the stores have a little different inventory so stop by a few to see what you can find before buying items at the more expensive party supply stores. We bought leis for a hawaiian outfit here; there was a package 2 for $ 1 where as the party tree and party supply store had the $ 2-$ 3 each! Their inventory changes alot so just because you see it one day doesn’t mean they will always have it.
