Beautiful furniture and smaller designer pieces, helpful staff. This is the real stuff, not the fakes, so expect to see real prices. Well worth it for pieces to last for generations.

If you’re looking for designer modern pieces that have prices only the very rich can afford while being either ignored or sneered at by the snobbish staff, this is the place for you. Helmut, the owner, acts like he’s doing you a favor if he so much as looks at you or acknowledges you are in his realm. You can get the same type of thing at Houseworks down the street and the staff is much friendlier and the prices are not nearly as high. I would say to start there instead and then if you don’t find what you need, go on down to F&F, but be prepared to be ignored unless you’re wearing fancy threads. What the owners don’t realize is that most wealthy people don’t wear fancy clothes because they don’t want to look wealthy. They lost a customer with this shopper, that’s for sure.

Very cool stuff. I will say that the management is not eager to wait on you if you look like you aren’t going to fork over a boatload of cash, but they do know what they’re talking about, and their selection is certainly one-of-a-kind in this area.

This place is like a museum. It’s expensive. That’s because they have the real modern designer pieces you see in ‘60s movies. Cool? Yes. Yes I’d like to have a reflective glass ball case that holds giant multicolored glass balls for my kitchen or living room table. But no, no I can’t justify spending hundreds of dollars for that. Awesome modern furniture, including chairs, wall and ceiling pieces, and tables are artfully arranged throughout the store. A room in the back is lined on two sides with odd and wonderful lighting pieces; flip the series of switches to see them on together, or a few at a time. Modern kitchenware by Alessi turns dinner into a form of art. I was especially taken by a stainless steel pitcher with a black handle and steeply sloping top. Sure, that slant at the top wastes a lot of room that could hold liquid, but for this level of cool, your guests should be happy to drink less of something. Watches, pens, and other architectural knick knacks available too.
