I had a great «new patient» experience at Indy Smiles! I had purchased a Groupon for an exam, x-​rays, and the Zoom whitening procedure. The staff, both in the front office and during my procedures, were all courteous and friendly. They explained everything before they did it and educated me on products and treatment procedures without ever pressuring me to purchase anything. I didn’t realize that the Groupon I had purchased didn’t include a cleaning… but they were able to squeeze me in with the hygienist and provide that service as well! Since I don’t have dental insurance and was paying out-​of-​pocket, they told me the cost of each thing up front. (Cleaning: $ 81 and Flouride: $ 18) At the end of my appointment, Dr. Llewellyn introduced himself to me and looked over my x-​rays. He described himself as a «conservative» dentist and didn’t recommend any major dental work. I’ll continue to use Indy Smiles in the future and would recommend it to anyone needing dental services in Indy!

#1 thing I look for in a dentist? Being able to understand that «Ah-​oeh-​ih-​uh-​uh» means, «Can I swish and spit really quick?»
But seriously. I made an appointment with IndySmiles on a whim, and I TOTALLY lucked out. From the moment I walked in, I felt… comfortable. This office reminds me a lot of the dentist I visited for most of my childhood and young adult life, and I liked that. Additionally, the location is easy to find, and there’s ample parking available.
The front office staff was quick, efficient, friendly over the phone (they called me multiple times to remind me of my upcoming visit in the days prior to my appointment), and all-​around welcoming. Once I got back in the chair, my hygienist, Bob, was not only personable, but also pretty hilarious. I laughed, I cried (bc I have mega gum sensitivity issues, not because he was mean), and my teeth were smooth and squeaky clean once he was finished. Every step of the way, I got an explanation of what was happening (gumline assessment, high-​power cleaning, fluoride) and its purpose in my overall oral health plan. After my cleaning, Dr. Gary came in and did a very thorough exam. He, too, was very friendly (being a people person must be a requirement to work here) and answered any and all of my questions, as well as some I didn’t even know to ask.
Overall, I had a really great experience here, one which definitely exceeded my expectations. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Dr. Llewellyn’s office to anyone looking for a dentist in the Indy area. I know I’ll be back for my checkup in six months!
