We visit this restaurant frequently. The hibachi food has always been tasty. Great portions if you’re really hungry. Service was very good. The chef puts on a nice show and they get the whole table involved. This has been consistently good for several years. We will go again.

Service is good. Hibatchi is just okay. The rice is really dry and missing something. The meat and veggies are good though. They have a lunch special which makes it a really good deal. Which keeps me coming back despite the fact that I’m not a fan of the rice…

A welcoming staff made this place a great time. When we weren’t stuffing our faces with great food, we were laughing alongside the staff. The Indy500 sushi roll was undeniably scrumptious! Highly recommend the ribeye hibachi — delicious!

Went for the hibachi last night for the first time and it was good! The hibachi chef was entertaining, funny and good with his tools. I got the steak teriyaki and had so much left over I will be having it for lunch today! My friend was able to eat all of his, though. I loved their yum yum sauce and their garlic dipping sauce was good as well. I will go back there again, it was good food for a reasonable price.

This is the wife and my favorite place to get sushi on the North side. Not just that the sushi is good, but the service is great and we always have a great night. The place looks like a classier version of a bennihana. They have a sushi side and a hibachi side. We normally go for sushi but the hibachi is good as well. Last night we started with edamame. It’s nothing fancy but it comes out piping hot with just enough salt on it to make it tasty. My mom used to call it Asian French fries to make my brother and I eat it. We ordered the yellow tail sashimi which came out with nice thick pieces of fish perfectly cut. It’s served with a cucumber garnish that’s nice for soaking up a little soy sauce. We got an assortment of rolls. Our favorites were the OMG and the Summer roll. The OMg had spicy tuna and spicy crab and spicy mayo and the roll was fried. It was spicy and crunchy and pretty outstanding all around. The summer roll had an awesome sweet and spicy chili sauce on it. I loved that sauce. I could put it on most of the rolls and be pretty darn happy. My only critique of the selection is it was hard to find anything that didn’t have spicy tuna or spicy mayo or spicy anything. My wife doesn’t like a lot of heat luckily she was able to eat everything but we’d love to see some more options that weren’t spicy.

So I went here a few years ago and it was amazing, this time, not so much. I usually get ebi tempera rolls, usually taste awesome, not here, just bland no flavor whatsoever. Chicken and steak meal hibachi, didn’t taste good, the flavors didn’t seem right I guess. Then you still have lack of flavor. Won’t be coming back from Bloomington, I’ll stick with DOMO out here, more food, better sushi, flavor.

Excellent food! The sushi blew my mind! Will definitely be a repeat customer! I ordered dinner sizes of Teriyaki Chicken and Teriyaki Salmon. The portion sizes were very good and are worth the price point.

Excellent hibachi! Our first time here and we were very satisfied with the service, «grill side chef» and food preparation! We were able to get in on a Friday night without a reservation as they have large grille side tables. As expected the grille side chef was very entertaining and had a unique command of his knives and utensils! The starter salad was fresh had an very tasty not spicy dressing. Good size portions for the filet mignon, shrimp and salmon. Healthy portion of vegetables that were cooked to perfection! This would be a fun place to take a group.

I’ve been coming here since they first opened, and this by far is my favorite hibachi in the suburbs. I know Indy has a Benihana, but this is so much more intimate and somehow not tacky. The food is great — if you get the hibachi, you get an insane amount of food for what you pay for. I always end up taking about half home. The sushi is delicious too — if you love sushi, try it! My favorite thing to get is the shrimp dinner… comes with soup and salad, shrimp appetizer, your protein, and vegetables and rice. So. Much. Food. The place is clean and simple, with some more modern décor in the sushi/bar area. The bar is pretty big for a hibachi restaurant, in my opinion. Bartender I had made them strong too. Chefs are personable, and have a sense of humor — don’t think I’ve ever been here where I’ve thought someone had an attitude. Overall, if you enjoy hibachi, Izakaya should be your place. I’ll probably be back when I’m in town in the next few months!

Hibachi style food for my birthday, what could be better? Joe was our grill master for the evening. While he was not as interactive with us as the other grill masters, he made sure all of us were taking care of and the meets were cooked to our desired temperatures. There were sushi options available even while sitting at the grill. The waitress was very attentive and made sure our glasses were never empty. What a fun way to celebrate a birthday and great for groups.

This is a frequent stop for my family, we have tried the Hibachi, Sushi(Lunch & Dinner), and standard dinner items. The Hibachi is exciting and fun like all Hibachi, if you are looking for the best deal get the vegetarian it is the largest quantity of food out of the options. The sushi lunch is a great value and is very filling. The sushi for dinner is very elegant and tasty the pictures explain it all. The standard platters are not near as good as the Hibachi or the Sushi but they are still good.

I took my family here on a Saturday night. The décor and atmosphere are typical for a Japanese hibachi place — darker, detailed, and sophisticated. The bar looks fundamentally better stocked than any Japanese place I’ve been to recently — an excellent sake and plum wine selection, though light on the beer menu. The steward was delightful — charming without being overbearing, he welcomed us and paid special attention to my younger boys and immediately agreed to an off-menu choice of my oldest. The chef was intricate and careful in his cooking — we thoroughly enjoyed the theater of the meal as much as the taste. I had the NY strip — medium rare. My oldest asked for calamari and shrimp — his ended up being the most special and the chef did a great job cooking these meats without letting them dry out — all while preparing the meal for 6 other guests. I think this is a gem for north Indy.

My friend and I shared the filet mignon and a seafood entrée. It was perfect as I wanted the steak and the soup. She had the seafood and salad; she also ordered a soup. Their birthday gift was a boat of pineapple and a candle in an orange. How unique!

Visited this past Friday. Overall, a fine experience and would probably return pending visits to other hibachi/sushi restaurants in the area. I had shrimp and chicken hibachi with a spicy tuna roll and red snapper nigiri. The sushi was fine but by no means wonderful. I’d order it again though the nigiri was a bit bland. Would probably try something other than red snapper next time, which was a regular favorite of mine living on the coasts. The hibachi was good, the chicken didn’t have a ton of flavor but was well cooked. Everyone at our table was raving and RAVING about how fantastic their food is. My wife was a little disappointed, she only ordered chicken hibachi but noted the cook gave me a significant amount more chicken than her even though I got chicken and shrimp. The meal took a very long time; we arrived at 8pm, were seated around 8:20pm, and didn’t leave until 10pm. Further, on arrival there was a ton of noise; specifically, seemed like Izakaya was a popular birthday spot as they kept banging a big drum for minutes at a time, which after being seated we learned was part of their happy birthday song. That was very annoying. By the time we were finishing our table was the only one left in the restaurant so it had sufficiently quieted down.

Good place. Good sushi and nice menu. Service pretty good too. Very popular Hitachi grill for kids, groups and fun. I like their sushi, fresh and creative, not cheep, but inloine with Indy.

Do yourself a favor — Skip Benihana and opt for Izakaya instead. Best spot for a hibachi meal in Indy(and surrounding areas) that we have found so far. The dining area is clean, there is adequate seating for small and/or large parties, the tables and eating space are both large, the cooks are entertaining(despite the expected schitck they all have to perform), and the food is GOOD. There is no strange smell emitted from the carpets and all of the produce is fresh. Sure, you may have to dodge flying balls of rice(or catch them in your mouth if you are so inclined), but that’s just part of the experience. Everyone needs a flaming onion volcano in their lives from time to time, right? Izakaya has been our go to for birthday celebrations in our group of friends for almost 3 years now — which means we visit here about once every-other month on the average. We all know to anticipate getting out of our seats and dancing to the beat of a large drum while singing multiple birthday songs to the lucky birth-person. Imagine«Funky Cold Medina» played by enthusiastic staff members. Good times. I may or may not have brought out«the butterfly» dance on occasion when feeling extra festive. Just sayin’. Sounds great, but why the docked star? First off — I wish it could be a half star, but alas, it had to be one whole star. But I digress. I dock them a star after all these years because meals here can take over 2 hours from start to check — longer for birthdays and large parties — and because I don’t think it is fair to charge me $ 4.50 for«extra veggies» when my pile doesn’t look any bigger than my neighbor’s ‘regular’ portion. End rant. TIPS: –They take reservations and have a large room in the back for extra large parties. –If you get the entertainment coupon books there is a coupon in it for $ 12 off 2 meals at Izakaya in that bad boy! :) –Go for lunch as they still have large portions and the prices are cheaper.
