Overpriced Salad was the best part of dining experience by far. After appetizer, one Salad, and a few drinks with tip bill was $ 80. No problem there. However, while being a paying customer and sitting outside we were asked to get up and move tables because another«Party» had reservations. Still consuming our Overpriced drinks mind you. The manager lady was not pleasant at all, and then, after we agreed to move to accomdate the more important paying customers our original sever acted like we never gave her the check receipt… absolutely appalling! As someone who works in restaurants every day, trust me, there are much better options nearby.

I came here because Kona Jack’s was closed but found out that you can order Kona’s sushi here too. I was very impressed by their food! The sushi was incredible, fresh, and the menu had a ton of options. I ordered the Indy Roll which had crab and avocado. It was super yummy and tasted great with the Miso Soup! They are also apparently known for their Clam Chowder, which was incredible as well. Our service was quick and friendly. The only reason for four stars instead of five was because the atmosphere wasn’t my favorite(a little outdated).

Went here as a last resort and was pleasantly surprised. It’s fairly dark inside but is cozy, and would be good in the winter. I ordered the French dip and I was so hungry I gobbled it down. It was good, probably not the best I’ve had but good. And the clam chowder is really good, even the waitress was saying people from the east coast comment on how good it is in the Midwest. The waitress was great and attentive and personable, and we didn’t have to wait too long!

My wife and I have never had such poor service from a steakhouse. I actually had to explain to the waitress that a Martini is not served on ice! Then the wait for taking our order unbelievably long. After making the order, appetizers were almost an hour getting to us. Our steaks were acceptable but nothing to rave about. For the same level of actual on-the-plate quality and far better service, we’d have done better to go to a chain steakhouse.

My family and I love this restaurant! It’s worth every penny! I only wish they had more family seating. When they have a big party they sit them in the only room where kids can sit. The plus side, if that happens, is that you can go right next door to Kona Jack’s and eat! They are connected to each other by a hallway.

Best part about traveling is getting to try new places and I must say I’m glad I try this one. Turkey burger and hot wings were delicious! Turkey burger was not dry and hot wings were better than most than what I’ve had. Definitely worth another stop before leaving home. Oh not to mention… the people there were beyond friendly! :)

We are longtime customers of Daddy Jacks. Overall food very good and an extensive menu. We DO think that they should go to more effort on things like their OWN Fresh Salsa(to serve with the Salsa and chips)…think they currently just pour it out of a jar. They could have a couple of SPECIAL homemade things. Service very good and attentive And we see everyone in town when we are there.

This is one of my favorite local restaurant/bars. I’ve been coming here«on occasion» since about 2001 and have always enjoyed the food — the food is upscale quality at medium-upscale prices. I’ve never had a bad service experience here and usually have ‘better than average’ service. Drinks at Apres Jacks run a little on the expensive side for an Indy bar, but they are served in nice glasses and the pours are never weak. My wife and I have recently began frequenting Apres Jacks(the bar/lounge in the back) on a regular basis. I really like the ambiance and the people(patrons and staff included) are fun to be around. I’ve never seen a ‘bad’ act perform here; most of the bands who play here are quite talented! My only complaint: Apres Jack’s is too small. If you want to be assured a seat on the weekend, get there before the band starts, or at least in the first 10 – 20 minutes. After that, it is often standing room only. I *really* wish they could find a way to double the seating capacity for Apres Jacks on the weekends.

The food was darn delicious but the service left something to be desired. The good points are that the food is fresh and delicious. The bad points are that the décor is dated and looks more like something out of caddy shack than an upscale joint on the Carmel border, the portions are WAYTOOBIG, and the service was less than good. I can’t really understand the story behind this place. It’s like one long restaurant with 3 different names. I’ve eaten at Kona Jacks and they had delicious sushi, the sushi is not available at Daddy Jacks yet it is right next door. And I have no clue what Apres Jacks is. Looked kind of like just a regular old bar. The food is on the pricey side, thankfully I had a gift card. I understand that in the past most pricey restaurants have prized themselves on providing generous portions, but for me, that’s not really what sets a restaurant apart. I’d rather have a smaller portion that I can enjoy all in one meal as opposed to having to take the rest home and have an obligatory re-heat so I don’t feel like I wasted food. There are starving children in Africa, ya know, just like mom always said. I got the bacon wrapped pork chops hoping it would be smaller, but it was actually 2 chops with a giant load of potatoes. I was excited it came with asparagus but have to say the asparagus was not good. I’m not sure if it wasn’t fresh, or if the preparation was off, but they weren’t bright green, like when I make them at home. More like a pale olive color, and they were very mushy. The potatoes and pork chops were delicious but I took more than 50% of it home with me, which just seems like an awful waste. I think they should consider re-evaluating their menu with some updated items, maybe decreasing their portion sizes unless they want to buy larger chairs, and changing up the décor. The server was older and really ignored us most of the time. I forget her name but she had blondish/white hair. She seemed only interested in talking with tables who appeared to be regulars. I was really a little disappointed.

Had a not so good experience Sat. night here. Service started out pretty good then deteriorated over the course of the night. My wife ordered swordfish which came out very dry and not edible. We asked about a sauce maybe that would moisten it up. The chef sent out a spicy teriyaki sauce but it didn’t really help. The server asked about replacing the meal but it was late in the meal and didn’t make sense. I suggested another glass of wine on the house and maybe remove her meal from bill instead. The wine finally arrived about 20 min later, he stated the bartender was covered up? Not sure about that as the wine was sitting at the bar poured for some time. As dessert time arrived(bday at our table) the server was MIA. We flagged him down finally and ordered. Then when we were ready to pay the bills, we couldn’t find him. After 15 min or so we got our bills. And guess what, the fish was still on the bill. I asked him nicely to remove it and he left. BTW a manager or the chef never came to our table! Very odd!!! So the adjusted bills came back and he removed the fish from the main bill but added the glass of wine ‘back’ to my bill.(It was a group dinner). UNREAL! Anyway I just paid it and decided that I don’t need to go back… There are way better places in Indy to have fresh seafood and with superior service.

I’m conflicted on this review. We made reservations to Daddy Jacks and thought we would give it a try. The place is like a old mans club, We were the youngest people in the place. The server was slow and was just«nice» enough. I don’t know if she saw us and thought we weren’t big spenders or since we weren’t old man money she didn’t think she would make much of a tip. I don’t know. Any way. The food was pretty good. Wife ordered bacon wrapped chops and I ordered the Ahi tuna. Usually I get a little worried when they smother an Ahi tuna in a glaze but this was pretty tasty and did not ruin the integrity of the dish. When we left there was a lady standing at the host stand that just stared at us while we were walking out. I always have a smile on my face so I know that a simple«Have a good night» or «Thanks for coming in» would have been easy to say. Anyway. It wasn’t a great experience and it wasn’t a bad experience. Wife said we have to try the Kona Jacks side… It looked busier so maybe that was the wiser choice.

I travel for work so I’m always looking for something local to eat. I wanted some sushi and I pulled up Unilocal and chose this place. I ended up eating here 3 days in a row. The Black & Blue Tuna was delicious! And the staff was great.

I love their sushi especially whatever they have on special. Tiger roll is my go-to if the special doesn’t appeal to me. I recommend going for an early lunch(right when they open at 11AM) because it can get really busy around 12PM. Service can be hit and miss.

Portion size of the buffalo chicken sandwich became lunch and dinner for this girl, I was quite pleased. Awesome price for the amount of food, and quality was up there too. Friendly, everyone knows your name type of business.

The food is usually decent, but not great. The live music in Après Jacks makes a visit worthwhile — not the food. But do not try to bring your own wine — not even non-alcoholic wine. It is against their something-or-other. They first tried to say it’s against the law, but backed off of that.(It’s not.). We are non-drinkers and this is the ONLY place we’ve EVER been that refused to let us have our NA beverages — in ANY state we’ve visited, literally from CA to FL. Aside from that, the customer service is ALWAYS lacking from the management; most servers are pretty good.

Had lunch at Daddy Jacks. I had a breaded tenderloin. Wonderful. Our server Stacie was great! Efficient knowledgable and friendly. Actually started with Annie, who greeted us with a smile and warm greeting. Wonderful experience.

I had an early weeknight dinner here with friends before heading to an evening work meeting; we were looking for something that would be quick, but were also trying to avoid fast food places. The menu is basic consisting mostly of steaks, basic seafood, sandwiches and salads. There is nothing too imaginative on the menu, but plenty of solid options that fit with what we were looking for. I had a chipotle barbecue chicken salad that was a good, standard entrée salad. My friends had burgers that they said were good as well. Our server was friendly and attentive. We had no complaints! Food was served quickly, which, again, is what we were looking for! The décor is classic dark wood with dim lighting and sports on screens around the dining room. At 5PM, the group of us in our 40’s were by far the youngest in the bunch. I’ve been to the bar area next door that serves appetizers and drinks, and I think the slightly younger crowd tends to head there more than the restaurant. The seafood place attached on the other side looked intesting; I might give that a try at some point

This is one of those spots that is much better when someone with my budget wants to splurge. Especially lunch. This is a great place when the company is picking up the tab. The service is wonderful. I have never had bad service not once yet eating here. I have a friend that orders the oyster po boy off the menu from the connected seafood restaurant but is never told no and they always work it out for him. The clientele can be a little north side stuffy but don’t let that keep you from venturing from downtown. I recommend the burger. It’s one of the best in the city.

–looks like Unilocal has 2 listings for this place. I chose this one because its listed under American food, and it is. Kona Jack’s is seafood, sushi & seafood market, Deli Jack’s is, well, deli of course! They are located on each side of Daddy’s. –Jack’s got a good thing going. I worked by Daddy Jack’s for many years and discovered this place. It’s got great sandwiches and they do them ‘all’ right.(It’s funny, but the one time I ordered a fish sandwich there, thinking w/Kona next door it would be good, but the fish wasn’t fresh. Kona’s has always been fresh) Otherwise, burgers steaks FF etc and all are good. It’s a great bar too w/nice strong drinks.(of course not on my lunch, ha) Good place to take clients and agents. It gets very busy early during the week. They have live music on the weekends too.(Gordon Bonham-blues etc.) —Check it out. –easy access from 465& large free parking.
