Nora Branch Public Library

This library is the loudest place I have ever been to. Sure, you can get the books you need but that doesn’t help you in what is supposed to be a quiet relaxing place.
Kids scream, inattentive mothers, constant talking and banging of carts and doors.
I seriously have been to quieter coffee shops.
Get your book and get out!

The librarians are extremely helpful, especially on finding books for younger readers!

This has been our library since we moved here in 2009. It has been a fine experience except in past year I have had 2 problems with returned books. I am writing about this here in case others have had same experience. About a year ago I returned a book but then received notice that I had not. I went to the library and found it on the shelf. They were very apologetic but this was first time in over 50 years of having a library card that this has ever happened. Just thought it was amazing but then it happened again this week. I had returned several books and dropped in outdoor drop box. Days later received notice that it was over due. When I went in, the person in front of me had same problem and it was also her second time. The clerk went to shelf and found her book but mind was not on the shelf. Their solution was that it would be put on notice that I had said it was returned and that they would watch for it and also wanted me to continue to look. After a year, it would be written off. They explained they could only do this once a year. I have had it happen twice now so am feeling like I can no longer drop books at this library. I need to go and have them checked in and get a receipt that I have done this. It also gets me that they do not seem to be thinking that they might have a problem that needs addressing. To never have this problem in over 50 years and then to have it happen twice in a year makes me think, their is problem that needs to be addressed.

This library is not the prettiest place in the world, but we have been thrilled to have it so close to us. The service has been very good. The only issue we had was an item that hadn’t been checked in properly, but this was remedied without cost to us. Other than that, some of the librarians are super friendly and have helped me track down book titles with sometimes limited details.
The selection is good for the size, and we have made good use of the ‘hold’ system to have other titles we want delivered to this branch. Overall, we will miss it when we move in a few months!

I enjoy this library. It is small but the staff are extremely pleasant. I have great success picking up my holds quickly, and finding lots of new items on the shelf. For the size has more to offer than expected. Could use a bit of updating but with the budget constraints it is ok to conserve money for staff salaries or forcing branches to close.
