Pizza King

As someone who has been involved in pizza in facets from delivery to assistant management of both corporate and independent stores, I am shocked at my experience at this Pizza King tonight. I am well aware that it is a busy holiday evening, however, I feel that this is not an excuse for the poor customer service I was just presented with by several «managers», up to a regional manager, when I called to see what they were interested in as far as reparations for an incomplete order that took an hour to get for carry-​out.
I will outline the facts. You may draw your own conclusions:
* Order was placed at 6:27 pm per the receipt. Nearly $ 38 for a large two-​top and 2 orders of breadsticks with cheese sauce.
* My son was inside waiting for the order.
* I came back into the store at 7:24 pm and was told that they had been calling our order for pick-up…unawares of my son who had been there the whole time waiting.
* Order arrived at home near 16^th & Franklin and was found to be missing part of it.
* Having already been away from home for 11 hours this workday, I was offered by «management» to come back and have my breadsticks replaced. It is approximately 7 miles from my home back to their location. As you might have guessed, this is unacceptable.
The almost comical response by the management team is why this review is being posted. I work very hard for my money, and to be this disrespected by a local eatery that I’ve shopped at for a number of years is simply inconceivable. I will never spend my money in this location again.

Pleaseeeeee will someone bring back a pizza king to the Indianapolis area that does not feel like a poorly executed knock off?
Just like the remaining other local Indianapolis pizza kings the food is subpar compared to the original and the product is no where close to the (burn the roof of your mouth HOT) enticing pizza I was searching for.
They get one star because the staff was pleasant. However, there was a lot of people working for being a slow night and having the same two dirty tables for over an hour. The establishment was clean but the table next to me literally sat un bussed for 1 hour and 15 minutes. From the time I arrived until «I’m sure» long after I was gone.
The side salad consisted of lettuce and tomato. I got it with no tomato. Therefore I got served a $ 3 cup of iceberg lettuce in a very small portions and poorly chopped. Out of the 7 – 8 pizza kings I’ve been to they all put crumbled mozzarella on their salads and this is why the people love them. Also the ranch dressing is either made with too much liquid or they are adding water to pre made ranch to stretch it out. It had the consistency of water. #miss #fail
I ordered a extra sauce, light cheese, and extra crispy or well done pizza. It came out with light cheese, light sauce, and still kinda doughy. Why is your crust so thick? It’s the thickest crust I’ve ever had at a pizza king. I also got a pan pizza which is the first I’ve ever seen at a pizza king. It took 50 minutes to come out and the sauce in very middle was still cold. They need to fix their over or turn it up.
Im sure this establishment will think I’m a snobby bitchy, uneducated wannabe food critic that knows nothing about their product or about this Lafayette/​Muncie/​Kokomo style pizza. But at the end of the day they should pay attention to the terrible reviews throughout every pizza king in the area and realize people long for this product yet no one is executing it correctly. They could be packed nightly and instead are just happy serving whatever this is and staying afloat. #sadformytastebuds

Customer service is not their strong suit. Their hours in Unilocal state they open at 11:00 AM. We called at 11:35. The female who answered the phone, response to our request to place an order for pick up was «we aren’t open yet». No ‘I’m sorry we don’t open until noon’ or ‘I could take your order now and and place it at noon’. Her tone was inconsistent with with a well run business, a customer centric business. We hung up and called Hot Box Pizza and placed our $ 100 order with them.

Go here if you love minimalist pizza. Sauce is spread as thin as your dream body, and you get two pepperoni crumbles per slice.

We love, love, love the deep dish pizza and the bread sticks… We order from this Pizza King often and have always had great service and great food!

This was the second worst pizza I have ever eaten in my life. I’m confused as to why this Pizza King is still in business. It is never busy, but there are almost always a couple cars in the parking lot. My family gave this place a try when we received some good coupons in the mail. The interior is weird — old tables and worn out booths, dusty fake plants everywhere. Air smells stale. The high chair we used looked like one from the 1970s. Our pizza did not taste anything like the Pizza King pizza I have eaten in Greenwood, Franklin and West Southport Road. It was served cold, was quite bland, and the tomato sauce was semi-​chunky with cold pieces of tomato in it. I am not too picky when it comes to pizza, but this was horrible. I still like Pizza King overall, but I do not plan to ever visit here again.

One of the best pizza kings out there! Pizza is always perfect. People that work there are typically very friendly and personable. I can always find coupons online, and I’ve never had to wait long. Each pizza king is different inside based on location. Although this one doesn’t have a cool train, their restaurant seems to have better upkeep and cleaner than most.

I give this pizza place an average review. Let me start by saying the bread sticks are very good. But the pizza seemed a bit pricey to me, and it really doesn’t have the homemade flavor I expect from a place like this. The crust has tasted «cardboardy» the two times I have eaten there. Also, as a personal preference, I like pepperoni slices. Pizza King uses a ground pepperoni — some folks surely enjoy it; I do not. Anyhow, the food is decent, but not great. If I had it to do again, I’d go to Mozzi’s Pizza just down the road instead.

I’ve always been a fan if pizza king but this was my first time to this location. The restaurant was clean, the servers were fantastic and the food was great. The breadsticks here are some of the best that I’ve had. Will definitely start coming here when I’m in the area.

I had no idea there was a Pizza King over here, and I’m pretty excited that it’s a good one! It’s kind of out in the country, in Cumberland, but it’s convenient for us east-​siders. The interior is wood booth seating, with Tiffany style lamps above each table and and lots of live plants and trees. You place your order on the Ding-​a-​Ling (red phone on each table) using your table #, and a server brings out your drinks and food. Our cheese bread arrived kinda lukewarm, but the pizza itself was great. I love that they put the toppings edge to edge on that wonderful thin crust. Pizza King uses crumbly sausage and thin frizzled ham rather than the bizarre «sausage balls» and «ham squares» that many large chains use.
The jukebox selection is AWFUL, unless you’re a fan of bad early 90s country music. I put my dollar in before I looked at the tunes available and actually had a hard time picking 4 songs to play.

Great pizza! This was my first Pizza King experience outside of Avon, IN. It was quite different. The restaurant was nice and clean on the inside, but nothing special. It lacked the kid friendliness that I’m used to with the tv’s and special train that brings the rinks. Though it lacked the «fun stuff,» it didn’t lack at all on courteous service. It was simply outstanding. Anyways, back to the pizza. It was superbly put together. The crust is thin but not cracker-​thin, and the toppings are really tasty and fresh.
My roommate and I only had the pizzas because the menu seems to lack a bit of finesse, when it comes to other side items. We’ll be back again soon due to the weekly specials, nice staff, and great pizza.
