If there’s one thing to say about Ragin’ Cajun, the owner/Chef is very friendly. It’s very nice to see people who are proud of what they create, and are able to talk with their clientele . As I am on a bit of a budget right now, I just got the Jambalaya with a mint lemonade. Everything is cooked TOORDER. It takes a little bit longer than the«other» Cajun restaurant, but I felt like it was worth it. Giant pieces of Andouille, shredded chicken and rice with vegetables all topped with a fresh-made corn pancake. Delicious. I only tried one of the hot sauces, and the flavor didn’t compiment it as well as I had hoped, perhaps next time I should go for sweet spice rather than«I love burning my mouth off.» There should be a monument erected in Broad Ripple for the mint lemonade. Again, made to order, this lemon mojito is sure to be a hit in the summer with the people coming off of the Monon. I might even have to buy a few to take home and booze up. It’s an absolutely refreshing drink that compliments the food, even though I had mine when it was 14 degrees outside.

Being a huge fan of traditional Creole fare, I was excited to try the Rajin Cajun. Warm welcome, cool décor, and amazing smells greeted me as I came in the door. The prices are great for the size of the portions, but, that might be the end of the greatness. The Crawfish Etoufee had good spice, but the rice was not cooked thoroughly… almost hard still! I also tried a Po’ Boy. Chicken… awesome. Aoli… superb! I am used to warm baguettes, but, this one was not. It was cold and a little too doughy. Overall, the Po’ Boy was good, but, not great! The hot sauce collection is a high point. Unfortunately, I don’t know if I will be back for etoufee… I will stick with Yats for that, but, I may give the Po’ Boy another chance!

Very affordable. Food not as good as Yats. Red beans and rice with sausage – the sausage looked like chopped hot dogs. Nowhere to sit. OK but not great. Still, they have no competition in Broad Ripple per se.

Chillin in the old Boogie Burger location, Chef Kam cooks up some pretty authentic New Orleans cajun. Full list of Po’ Boys(favorite so far is the lump claw meat crab cake Po’ Boy), Jambalaya, Crawfish Étouffée, Gumbo Filé, Red Beans & Rice, small batch cane sugar Soda Pop and hand squeezed Mulled Mint Lemonade… not to mention the sinful mess of the Louisiana Mud Pie. Feels like walking into that hole in the wall French Quarter food shop and finding just what you need. Primarily a place for carry out and delivery you are also welcomed to eat standing at the counter but because the bathroom is through the kitchen this is not a sit down restaurant. I haven’t had the late night breakfast yet but I’ve heard great things. For all the Broad Ripple party folks, from 10pm till 4am on Friday and Saturday you can order Blackened Biscuits & Gravy and French Toast with Bourbon Maple Syrup among other items. Did I mention they have bicycle delivery available during daylight areas to the surrounding area?
