Ruth’s has a great whimsical atmosphere! The servers are very friendly, and the food is tasty! I highly recommend the biscuits and gravy, you won’t regret it!

Stopped in for a late lunch. Cute place with lots of character and charm. Opted for lunch instead of breakfast, Mom’s Grilled Cheese with a side of potatoes. Just what I needed on a cloudy cold day! Service was prompt and my waitresses was very attentive.

Okay, I’m all about breakfast, and this place is the BOMB. When I say they have everything… I mean there’s menu with endless toppings for your pancakes. Their eggs Benedict? To die for. Biscuits and gravy for daaaaayyyyzzz. The service has always been on point even when they are busy, which is pretty much all the time. If there was any«con»…it would be having to wait because they are busy and the parking lot gets full. But hey, Indy likes their brunch! I take my family here every time they come to visit. There’s something for everyone. Do it. Go to Ruth’s and order one of everything. You know you want to :)

Ruth’s has a unique, homey environment, with its decoupaged chairs/tables and quirky décor. It is a brunch-lunch place where the ingredients taste a bit fresher and are more unique than what can be found at the more chain-like Lincoln Square or actual chain Le Peep. Service was fairly prompt and very friendly, although I have only visited on weekdays when it is less busy. I typically order the salmon-avocado eggs benedict, which comes with smoked salmon(not lox) and avocado slices on a piece of sourdough, with two(2) poached eggs and creamy hollandaise sauce. The smoked salmon is always a bit too salty for my taste, but I try to cut the saltiness with Sriracha, more black pepper, and a side of fruit(strawberries, grapes & orange… no reject honeydew!). Ordering a side of roasted red potatoes($ 3) is also a good strategy in cutting the salty rich benedict flavor, and is enough to split between two(2) people. My dining partners have ordered the make-your-own breakfast sandwiches(with a large variety of choices) and strawberry-cheesecake pancakes(too sweet, couldn’t finish). There is a large selection of tea to choose from, as well as lefses and cinnamon rolls you can order to-go. Three Sisters is still my preferred brunch spot, but Ruth’s is a strong contender. I feel like the weekday crowd at Ruth’s leans towards a mix of an older, wealthier, animal-print clad folks who never venture south of 82nd/86th and younger spandex-clad women who suffer from serious upspeak issues. The quirky environment and fresh-tasting food help to overcome any eye-rolling prompted by your fellow diners… so come on folks, visit Ruth’s and help tilt the weekday customer base to match its surroundings!

Wow! We were looking for a quick late breakfast between appointments. Ruth’s was convenient and I had heard good things. Humorous signs and thought provoking quotes adorn the walls of this casual eatery. Tami had the huge, plate filling pancake. She ate half and boxed the rest. Very custard-y and flavorful. Very impressive. I had a pretty basic egg breakfast with which I was also quite satisfied. I see no downside and will return to further explore the menu options.

big fan… the only problem is trying to get in the place… cute and interesting décor. Love the fact that you can get a little coffee while you wait and wait you will. The servers were friendly and knowledgeable. The food excellent, the prices reasonable. altogether a very pleasant dining experience.

My husband works in the area and I often meet him for lunch. Even though there are a ton of dining choices, if given the option I always ask to go for Ruth’s Café. The food is just terrific, a full 5 stars. We like to get the lunch combos, pick two, cup of soup, salad or half sandwich(the cup soup portion is impressive, bowls are even bigger!). Or, we order something savory and something sweet, then share. Cheesecake pancakes, ever so tasty. Salad sammies, yum. Breakfast dishes, outstanding. Biscuits and gravy heaven. Service is spotty 3.5 stars.

We visited Ruth’s for Sunday morning brunch on our way out of Indianapolis. It was around noon so they were in full swing. There was a little bit of a wait and we enjoyed reading the signs and looking at the eclectic furnishings while we waited. We ended up taking a table on the sidewalk. It was July but since it was covered it wasn’t unbearably hot yet. We were blessed with a wonderful server named Kate. She was a gem and very personable. I had coffee while we waited for our brunch. It wasn’t «knock your socks off» great but it was decent. The food arrived in a timely fashion. My husband had the brisket hash. I don’t «do» hash but my husband said it was delicious. I had the quiche and salad. The salad had a wonderful champagne vinaigrette dressing and the quiche had bacon, tomatoes and asparagus. I also had potato Lefse but was so full I only ate a bite or two and took the rest to my daughter’s with the intention of eating it later but forgot about it and ended up leaving it there which was disappointing because I was looking forward to finishing it because what little I had was really good. It was reasonably priced and we were in and out in about an hour. All in all it was a great meal.

Awesome place. Tons of Benedict options. I went with the Indiana Benedict, an English muffin with a sausage patty then the Benedict goodies. Loved every bite. Girlfriend went the pancake route. They’re gigantic and super fluffy. The syrup has a unique taste. Has a very funky and creative atmosphere. I love the northern side of Indianapolis!

This place is the bomb. The only reason I give it 4 stars is because I always freeze my butt off when we go here. Seriously, bring an extra sweater. Other than that, the Brie L.t. sandwich and tomato soup is amazing if you’re after something savoury. I’ve got a bit of a sweet tooth myself so the Belgian Waffle(plus some added extras) is always a nice treat for Sunday brunch.

My friend and I work right around the corner and sometimes crave breakfast so we decided why not try this place for some togo food that we can pick up quickly and take back to our office. The first time we went, the food was amazing. If I had done my review on that first visit I would have given them five stars! So of course we wanted to go back 2nd time was also good, not as good(but thats usual, the excitment had worn off) but still good. The third time we had bragged so much that we got four other people to order with us to bring back to the office. This time, things were not so good. One of the five people who ordered enjoyed their meal. She recieved their pancakes which were light and fluffy and by all means delicious. However my friend and I who had been enjoying so far had ordered the buiscuits and gravy and when we returned to the office we opened up to find buisciuts that were hard as rocks. I litterly hit them against the counter and they made noise. This was weird to us becuase previously the buiscuits had been light and fluffy and delicious. It is what made us want Ruths so much in the first place. I did call back and a very nice server Joe answered and apologized profously saying he would take care of us on our next visit. He was very friendly and apologetic. something you dont get much nowadays. However When we went back a few days later again our buiscuits were hard as rocks. At that point I wanted to give up but my friend thought we should give them one more chance. She called back up and talked to Joe who again was an angel and so appologetic about the situation and promised us a better meal on our next time. We waited a week. We just picked up our food this morning. I checked one of the buscuits before I left and it felt fine and much better. Joe explained that he had found out after our last call that they had ran out of their regular buisciuts and had bought store bought and that must be the difference. I went back and gave my friend her meal and started in on mine and low and behold her buscuit(The one I had not checked) was hard again… I dont understand. At this point Ive given up. CONSISTANCYISKEY. I give them a two just for the sheer fact joe was so nice. Im really dissapointed. I thought I had found a new favorite… but I will not be back…

We stumbled on this place a few months ago and we just love it! The variety of dishes on the menu is great, the pancakes are to die for, omelets are delicious. The décor is ecclectic and quirky, The staff is friendly. And they allow dogs on their outdoor seating area. Winning! Don’t forget the large appetite! I didn’t expect a full house on a Monday morning at 10:15. However, every table was taken with one single seat left at a small counter. The resturant has two sides with a doorway between dining rooms. Another patron informed me the place use to be smaller noting only one dining room. Very much a family oriented resturant with artsy tables, chairs, sculptural salt & pepper stands, and small collections of tchotcke wall décor. The server, Shawn, warmly greeted us and answered menu questions. My very large portion coffee cup remained topped off for the entire visit. Even a to-go cup accompanied my carryout bag. Shawn scoring a 10 already. The half order of biscuits and gravy($ 6) is a huge portion balancing the perfect amount of sausage to the gravy and biscuits. No skimping on sausage or gravy. The Spinach Omelette($ 9.75) was delicious with large amounts of sautéed spinach, onions, mushrooms, tomatoes and feta cheese. Served with potatoes similar to oven roasted skin on red potatoes and a salad or fruit. Both meals could easily be split and we’d leave completely satisfied. Excellent service, delicious and afforable food using quality ingredients in a casual atmosphere with an eclectic décor. We’ll certainly be back next time I’m in the area to sample other items from their large menu.

Overall: Ruth’s is a fun café that you wouldn’t expect for a strip mall joint. Definitely a great breakfast! The good: Great menu options, with the obvious breakfast plates and choices. The food was great and plentiful, definitely didn’t leave hungry. The service was friendly and was consistent with the refills. The atmosphere is really cool and has a lot of uniqueness to it. The bad: Restaurant was loud and cold. Food took a little long to come out. Atmosphere: 9⁄10 Service: 8⁄10 Food: 8⁄10

AMAZING! Food and service. The atmosphere is very eclectic. I want to buy several pieces on the wall but they really only sell the signs. I love the omelets. Love the idea that you can opt for a side of fruit or even a salad if you don’t feel like potatoes. Oh and how about CHEESECAKEPANCAKES!!! Yes, some genius put cheesecake in a pancake and it is amazeballs! Enjoy Ruth’s!

Dang, another place I frequent that I have not reviewed. Goes to show you that Indianapolis definitely has their share of great places. Ruth’s Café is no stranger to the great places list. Everything here tastes like it was made with care and love. From the Giant Cheesecake pancakes, to the Smoked Brisket Hash, it all tastes great. The atmosphere here is also fun, and in the warm weather you can sit outside. If you are awake in time for breakfast, or brunch on the weekends, make a stop here for a great time and good eats!

Stylish, delicious and in perfect distance of home. Ah, yes. I made my first visit to Ruth’s this morning with a couple of friends and I was delighted! The interior was what first caught my eye. The tables were covered in every shape/color/design imaginable. Definitely not your typical«brunch place.» I had the A la Crossing benedict and by golly — I would definitely recommend it to you benedict fans. Random tidbit of info: For some reason part of the restaurant today was BLAZING hot. I mean — really hot. I’m not sure if this is a regular occurrence or if today was randomly warm. It was a little distracting, though. Like I originally wanted coffee but then realized that I’d be sweating bullets if I had too much«hot» going on.

Hubby and I ventured out of our Fishers-based bubble for Sunday brunch last weekend, and holy cats, are we glad we did! This little gem is located at a strip mall, directly across from the Keystone Fashion Mall. Walking up, we could see it was very crowded, lots of full tables and several people waiting to be seated. We were told it would be a 15 minute wait, not bad for Sunday around 10am. This gave us time to check out the décor which is very eclectic, looks more like a spot you’d find in Broad Ripple. The super cheery hostess ended up seating us in under 5 minutes, sweet! Now for the food… yummmmm. The menu is a really nice reprieve from your traditional breakfast/brunch places. I love seeing«different» items. The cheesecake pancakes jumped out right away and the fact that you can get Reese’s in a Belgian waffle is fabulous, but I ended up going with my favorite, banana walnut pancakes. I was worried the short stack wouldn’t be enough, but I barely ate half. The cakes are about a ½ inch thick, cooked with bananas, topped with more bananas and candied walnuts. So, so good. Hubby customized their egg scramble with ham, bacon and potatoes with a side of more potatoes(he loved potatoes) and an English muffin. The portions were so huge, he couldn’t finish it. This coming from a man that invented the clean plate club! Pricing is about the average, our bill was around $ 25, considering we both could have had two meals. Service was great, we only saw our waitress maybe twice, but she was always walking around, so we could have easily flagged her down. We absolutely loved our meal and experience, will be back soon!

Unfortunately, my first visit to Ruth’s left me with mixed feelings. Some friends and I stopped in for Brunch this past Saturday. When I arrived around 10:50 a.m. the parking lot was packed. Between the crowd at Ruth’s and First Watch, parking spots were minimal. Anyhoo, found my spot and was on my way. I heard wonderful things about Ruth’s and was excited to try their famous cheesecake pancakes! Fortunately, one friend arrived around 10:45 and had already submitted our name to the hostess who told her it would be about a 25 minute wait. Ok, no problem. We had a total of 6 people in our party including 2 children under the age of 7. So we wait. 11:15 arrives. Nope, still waiting. 11:30 rolls around. We are still waiting. 11:40 rolls around. Still waiting. Huh? What’s is going on? What irritated us the most is(1) when my friend went to inquire about our wait time, the staff responded rudely;(2) my friend looked at the list and counted that 8 parties of people were seated prior to us. One couple came in and waited less than 15 minutes. Absurd considering by this point we were there about 45 minutes. Add insult to injury, we befriended two awesome ladies who also waited a long period of time. Less than us, but long enough. Somehow there name was accidentally crossed off the list. When they realized this, they went to the hostesses and they were immediately placed at a table, which by the way, had been empty for over 15 minutes. Go figure! Unfortunately, our situation was still not rectified. We were livid. We thought about leaving many times, but the kiddos were hungry and just wanted some pancakes. So NOT cool Ruth’s. FINALLY, we were seated. Unfortunately the staff member who was rude to my friend took our drink order. Fortunately she was there just to take our drink order. Our waiter was awesome! He really made our experience end on a positive note. I ordered the peach tea and cheesecake pancakes with a side of sausage. Everyone enjoyed their meal as well as the quirky and whimsical décor. My pancake was a smidgen overcooked, and so was my friends adorable Mickey Mouse shaped pancake. It was a bit rubbery and not easy to cut through. Geesh! I’m so bummed because I love the interior, whimsical dishes, but the amazing aesthetic don’t make up for horrible service and just ok food. Plus, they never even apologized or acknowledged their mishaps. That is what irritates me the most. I love to support local business, but unfortunately I will be in no hurry to return to this one.

This place is bustling around lunchtime on weekdays so make certain to give yourself plenty of time. However, service is friendly and bustling to make up for it. I’ve been dying to check out Ruth’s Keystone Café for quite some time. Now I can see why my fellow Unilocalers are big fans. Holy eggs benedict. Not just any eggs benedict. We’re talking beautiful eggs piles on thick slices of bacon piled on Norwegian herb-filled potato pancakes. If only all eggs benedict were piled on these tasty little potato clouds. We kicked the meal off with a «pancake appetizer», if you will. You know that moment when you’re thinking to yourself, «should I go sweet or salty with this meal?» Well, that’s the moment when I say…“both.” We ordered the cheesecake pancake with strawberry butter on top to kick the meal off. HUGE! Perfect appetizer or dessert for three to four diners. Overall, I recommend checking out this bright local spot in a chain-filled part of town. Fun and quirky décor paired with tasty eats make for a five star experience.
