SIDEWOKCAFE the one I am going to talk about is on Broad Ripple Ave. The food here is great, they are very clean, and the food is very inexpensive for the amount you get, and very flavorful. I and my husband get take out here once a week. We introduced our out of town friends to this Restaurant and now they want to eat here when they visit. You can also tell them if you want another ingredient, This place is awesome!!!

I got the bourbon chicken with fried rice. The food was plentiful and great. The price was reasonable for the amount of food I got. I would recommend going to this place if you want Chinese food in Broad Ripple.

Went here for lunch because of the good reviews and was disappointed. I got the sweet and sour shrimp and it was very greasy with no flavor unless you dipped it in the sweet sauce. My husband got the Happy Family and said it was ok but a little salty. We got an order of the fried pork dumplings and it was mostly dumpling because they were so thick. They did not taste good as a result. The soda machine had no ice in it so all the soft drinks came out flat. I do not recommend this place and I won’t be going back.

One of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. My friends and I ordered some food via a third party delivery service. On the menu, it states that you receive a free General Tso’s Chicken with a purchase of $ 40 or more. Our total equaled more than $ 60, so we clearly qualified for it, and so because of this I did not order any food, assuming that they would honor the coupon and therefore provide me with a free entrée. When the delivery service arrived at the restaurant, they informed us that they had not made the General Tso’s and furthermore refused to make it because we did not pick up the food ourselves. Our poor delivery man was caught in the middle, and so I called to attempt to straighten things out, as it does not specify that you need to pick up the dish. When I called, I asked why we were not given the free entrée, given that the coupon made no stipulation about delivery. They said they don’t do delivery(hence the 3rd party service), and because I myself didn’t pick it up, «I cannot help you». I maintained that because it was not specified on the menu, I should receive the General Tso’s Chicken for free. This was met with a staunch«No». So as I processed this on the phone(remember at this point the poor delivery man is still standing there waiting patiently), I was about to order something else, saying«Well okay then can I-» when I was told«No, I have customers waiting to order food». I informed her that I was in fact attempting to order food, but because of her tone, I would no longer be patronizing her restaurant. I received something to the effect of «yeah okay whatever». It’s a shame, I’ve NEVER had a customer service experience this bad, with a completely unapologetic associate, and I will no longer be patronizing their restaurant. I could have stomached them not honoring the coupon, but I absolutely could not stand being told to get off the phone for other customers. TL;DR Had a valid coupon, they refused to honor it, and told me to get off the phone for other customers after I voiced my complaints.

One of the WORST meals ever. Ordered dine in. $ 14 for 1 egg roll, Mongolian beef, side of house fried rice(extra $ 2.50) and water. Sticky table, noticed when sat down streaks on floor from dirty mop water. Hmmm. Not getting good feeling! Egg roll arrives. Think frozen grocery store app meets dirty grease. That is basically flavor of pink tinged filled egg roll. Then the meal arrives. Two paper plates. One filled with fried rice and one with a mysterious huge plate of grilled onions swimming in a sticky brown gravy. Buried in the onions was one weirdly chopped scallion and this odd textured beef. Not tough but a weird slimy texture. Taste is awful. Rice had zero flavor. It was like someone bought a Chinese buffet fried rice, threw in waterlogged shrimp then put in a skillet for a minute. Both plates go in trash. My mouth feels like I gargled with vegetable oil!

What’s better than eating good Chinese food on a beautiful Sunday afternoon? Side Wok Café is in a great location in Broad Ripple and was incredibly easy to order and pickup. Side Wok serves up your classic Chinese food items, which tends to be consistent and predictable, but in a good way to keep you coming back. We ordered the lunch menu, and I ordered the orange chicken with fried rice and an egg roll. It was all very tasty, served hot, with seemingly good quality of food. I also ordered an order of crab ragoon because I’m addicted. The ragoons were big and delicious and there were about eight or so of them in the order. I definitely couldn’t finish everything. Much like Chinese food, they give you a hefty amount, and I’ll tell you, Side Wok heats up very well as leftovers. The inside of the restaurant was clean and spacious and the staff was all very friendly. As I mentioned earlier, it was very easy to call, order, and then pickup and leave. Great place!

Honestly this is probably the best Chinese food in the area. Everything is of top quality compared to many others, it isn’t expensive, and it taste Phenomenal! I was truly surprised and this is coming from a guy that knows good Chinese food compared to restaurants in New York. Really clean restaurant too. teriyaki chicken here is a MUST

Really good take out Chinese. Crab Rangoons are great as well as the sesame chicken. Not having local delivery is the only reason I didn’t give them 5 stars.

Only thing that distinguishes this place fron normal Chinese carry-out place is somewhat larger and nicer eTing area. 3.5 stars at best. BTW, while I was there, hostess and cook got into a shouting match; but it only added to the otherwise bland atmosphere.

Quick, easy, and large portions. This place has an extensive menu with a lot of variations of the same dish, just with different meats. The food here is pretty typical of other fast food Chinese/Asian restaurants. However, it does not taste like authentic Chinese food at all which is why I can’t give it many stars. Also, whenever I order on the phone or in the store, they make it seem like I’m bothering them and wasting their time, even when I’m the only person in the restaurant.

Friendly. Sticky table tops. I’m pretty sure I just ate dog there. Terrible, devoid of flavor. Probably fine for the drunk crowd. Not for someone who is hungry and expects quality for ten dollars, no drink.

This is my favorite nearby Chinese restaurant to visit for mainly carry-out, when we don’t want to drive out to Szechwan Garden and/or just want to eat like slobs in the privacy of our own home. Side Wok’s atmosphere is not really that conducive to having a superb in-house dining experience, with the loud tv, open kitchen and paper plate dining ware. The staff is generally friendly and efficient. I always order the General Tso’s tofu with broccoli for myself, and got my dining partner hooked on the same dish, even though we aren’t strict vegetarians. I love the texture of Side Wok’s tofu in this dish; chewy and lightly fried, not undercooked gelatinous blobs of tofu that many places indifferently dump into their stir-fries. Unlike many of its competitors, their General Tso’s sauce is not gummy from overuse of cornstarch and is only lightly sweetened(as opposed to being teeth achingly so). I am generous with the Sriracha sauce, as the dish is not sufficiently spicy for my taste(but has made my partner’s nose run on occasion). We also typically order the fried pork dumplings, which taste amazing doctored up with the packets of Chinese mustard and more Sriracha. My partner also orders chicken fried rice pretty consistently, and loves it; however, it tastes pretty bland to me… but I’ve never understood why anyone would voluntarily order fried rice as an entrée. If you order over $ 20, you get a free side of pretty good veggie spring rolls. If you order over $ 25(or $ 30 maybe?), they give you a free order of crab rangoon, which only have a very faint crab taste and are not as good as the spring rolls. So, if you are spending over $ 25, make sure to tell Side Wok that you prefer the rolls. Highly recommend for carry-out; at a minimum, we order from here 2−3/times a month and have never been disappointed.

Cleanliness was good, both up front in the dining area, and the men’s room. Egg roll was good. Fried rice was excellent, with bits of scrambled egg. Vegetables were excellent, crisp, like I like them. Chicken was undercooked, and soggy/chewy. I should have taken it back. The white sauce in my dish was good, not too salty.

I walked in to order carry out and it was a great experience! The restaurant was clean and the employees were friendly. I placed my order and they automatically gave me some free food because of the amount of money I spent. They also gave me a coupon for my next visit! I would highly recommend this to anyone in the Ripple area because everyone loves a good local Chinese joint! We ordered the General Tso’s, Kung-Pao, Mongolian Beef, Crab Rangoons, Pork Rolls, Hot and Sour Soup and Chicken Fried Rice. All of which were excellent and you can even request for them to make it a little more spicy if you would like. CUSTOMERSERVICEISSPECTACULAR!

Simply put, this is my go to Chinese take out. I have tried a few other local Chinese restaurants, but for some reason they will not let you substitute your Egg Roll for a Crab Rangoon… I love me my crab rangoon’s, so this is a big deal for me. No matter when I have called in, the food has never taken more than 15 minutes to prepare. I have only had the General Tso’s and Pepper Steak and I can they they are phenomenal. I feel I am pretty lucky to have a place this close to my house. This is exactly the type of restaurant I hoped I would find when I move to Broad Ripple!

Good take out. Ordered the Bourbon chicken, pineapple chicken, and crab rangoon and dined in. They brought out he crab rangoon first. They were hot and crispy without too much oil The Bourbon chicken was very good. The pineapple chicken was not my favorite, but it did have a lot of fresh vegetables in it. I would go there again.

You know that scene in Lady from Shanghai… yeah… that one. The mirrors. Where Everette Sloan has run amok yet again and Orson Welles is shooting all the mirrors in the fun house, and there’s like 17 versions of Rita Hayworth? Well… that’s my fantasy with Chinese Food. Just substitute Rita Hayworth for Mu Shu Pork & Lo Mein. I can’t believe I haven’t had this yet… living in Broad Ripple for almost a year now, and, on the day I determine I’m moving from Broad Ripple… I finally have this MSG-less goldmine. Steamed Pork Dumplings Roaster Pork Egg Roll Vegetable Egg Roll Vegetable Lo Mein Broccoli in Garlic Sauce Bourbon Chicken Mu Shu Pork That pretty much rounds out the dinner we had that’s fit for Chairman Mao. I loved the 1 egg roll, $ 1. That seems like the way to go about it. Steamed dumplings were spot on: wholesome dumpling with tender, moist, spiced pork inside. The Lo Mein is hearty. And, legit. No MSG, no weird flavorings added… noodles in a soy sauce with spices and vegetables. The bourbon chicken just sounded so strange to have on a Chinese menu I had to see what it was: it was thin strips of chicken, almost like pulled chicken, fried crispy in a brown sauce. Tasted like legit street food I’d find in Shanghai. Now… the Mu Shu Pork. The finest damn dish out there. Made exactly for me. If you don’t know what it is: it’s typically chopped pork amongst chopped vegetables(cabbage this time ’round) and slap-chopped-griddled on a griddle. Then it’s served with dry dumpling wrap«pancakes» that you the goodness and eat like a dumpling/taco/burrito. Life’s a beautiful thing. I ordered way too much food for two… but I was so excited to have Chinese that I’ve been craving for a year now… and I wanted to try so much. The lady on the phone is fun. Really. Kind. And fun. A city isn’t a city without solid Chinese take-out. Indy has solid Chinese take-out thanks to the Side Wok Café.

I came here last night with my daughter to pick up some food for dinner for us and her husband. The portions are huge and the food is very good. They do not use MSG and that is a huge plus for me. I’d like to try their $ 4.95 lunch special and since it is only a few blocks from my house in Broad Ripple, I plan on walking here one day when I actually have a lunch hour :-) Last night we ordered the Spicy Garlic Shrimp(me), the Hot and Sour Soup(my daughter), the Mongolian Beef and the Orange Chicken for my son in law… so much food, that I finished my shrimp for lunch today and my son in law has enough left overs to last him the weekend. The Spicy Garlic Shrimp came with lots of fresh vegetables: broccoli, mushrooms, carrots and steamed rice. The shrimp was huge and the amount was generous… for just $ 8.95. I’ll be back.
