had SotSot for lunch! it was fantastic! i had crawfish/shrimp etoufee, red beans and rice and a bourbon chicken dish. my dinner mate/boyfriend ordered the soft shell crab po’ boy and me being the type of person i am… i def ate some of that too. #SharingIsCaring the ambiance reminded me of my recent trip to new orleans as the dining room looked exactly like the air bnb home we stayed in. the couple who owns the spot were so sweet and hospitable. the food was delicious. the red beans and rice reminded me of the caribbean/island version, you could taste the coconut very subtly. the price was right too and our food arrived quickly. i’m definitely going back. #FiveStars #HighlyRecommended #Yummmmm #BlackOwned #SupportYourLocals

Surprise out in the middle of nowhere. While on a road trip with the kids, happened across good Unilocal reviews and decided to give it a shot. The surrounding area seemed deserted but the place itself was clean and simply organized. We had: -) shrimp + crawfish etoufee -) seafood gumbo -) grilled cheese sandwich -) crawfish po’boy -) mac + cheese bites All the items were finished between the three of us — that’s saying something with picky eaters for kids :) Found out that they had just opened the previous Friday. Not sure if I’ll be back in this area of Indiana ever again as this was during a very rare family road trip, but if I did, I would definitely return to this place — the food was awesome. T.

The new brick and mortar location is on 24th and College. They have a small dine — in experience with very friendly service. I had the boudin balls and mac bites… they were both great. COMETRYTHENEWLOCATION. I live within walking distance and am thrilled to have this as an option.

Found the truck easily on roaming hunger and had the chicken po’ boy and quesadilla. The chicken was fried and the lettuce on the sandwich was dressed which took the already delightful sandwich up to 11. The chicken quesadilla was spicy and melty. What more could you want? Definitely stop by and treat yourself!

Best po’boy I’ve had in indy! We were at broad ripple park this past weekend. I had actually chosen a different food truck and hated what I ordered. My boyfriend had a catfish po’boy from here(Luckily I was able to help him finish) and I was really upset I didn’t order one. They used a good amount of seasoning and the price was reasonable.

Yum! And it is no coincidence that I just booked my first ticket to NOLA! A real taste of Na’leans I had the shrimp po boy and fries. I enjoyed it but felt like a greasy-mess afterwards. The bread is so large that it soaks up lots of the grease, but it also takes away some of the flavor– wish bread was a tad smaller, so as to allow all flavors to be tasted. When I was there they did not have self-serve napkins out and they stingily handed me one small paper napkin. I was eating at Monument Circle outside on my lunch break and ended up with grease spots on my nice work blouse. A small price to pay for delish street fare– just next time be proactive on the napkin hunt!

I love most food trucks, but this one has disappointed me 3 out of the 3 times I’ve tried it. First time, they only had jambalaya left, and it was early– I found out later from someone that they’d had a fire, but when I ordered the guy at the window just said, «Nope.» I tried ordering a second dish. «Nope.» I said, «what do you have?» «Just jambalaya.» Thanks for wasting my time, he could’ve just said, «I’m sorry, we had a kitchen fire and only have one dish available.» Second time, I tried I chose jerk chicken for the cornbread, and it arrived with a hamburger bun. Seriously. A PLAIN hamburger bun, like the budget kind you buy at the grocery store. When I inquired about the corn bread the woman said, «We’re out of cornbread.» They should have told me that when I’d ordered, I would’ve ordered a po’boy. The chicken was good, the rice and beans were soggy and oily. The third time we knew better but we were all hungry so just ordered a side of fries, thinking they’d be cajun or some kind of seasoned fries. Nope. Again, PLAIN frozen, heated up fries. We couldn’t even eat them– so much good food around, why waste the calories on this one? Now we ALL know better, and will NEVER try this awful truck again– horrible, horrible service, and bad food.

This may be my favorite food truck! The Jerk Chicken is my FAVORITE, I’m not into the super spicy, so I get the mild. It’s juicy, flavorful and tender. Comes with a very generous serving of red beans and rice and some of the best cornbread I’ve ever had. Not to mention the owner and employees are all so very nice!

I’ve been by the truck a few times and they knock it out of the park. The first time I visited I had the grilled cheese with bacon. It’s pretty incredible. They get a nice crust on the bread and the bacon from The Smoking Goose is wonderful. Recently I tried the shrimp po’boy which is just loaded with shrimp. My only complaint is that the sandwich it’s almost too big to pick up and eat. Really solid cajun food. The real reason this jumps to five stars is due to the service. Every time I visit they have been incredibly friendly and welcoming. There is poor cell phone service by my building and they were having a difficult time with their card reader. After two tries, the owner said«well, if it doesn’t work then just take this one on me.» Incredibly generous people with amazing food, don’t miss this truck.

Got the jambalaya. It was spicy, but it was also *over spiced*. Like they messed up and then just kept adding spices to try and fix it. It was a bit over-coooked too. Very salty. Would not get this again and sad to have paid $ 7. Also, the portion size was quite small for the price.

Written November 2011 Well it has happened there’s finally a food truck out there that I will check for their location. SOTSOT offers authentic Louisiana cuisine red beans and rice, jerk chicken to die for, and Po-boys. I visit the Crescent City at least once a year and on a more personal note I took a visit one month before I was born. This type of food is in my top three and SOTSOT to me is number one in the Circle City. Sure there are places like Yats on College and Mass Ave, Papa Roux on 10th and Post, and the Ragin’ cajun kitchen in Broad ripple. I have tried them all and the one that tops the chart is obvious Some of this Some of that. Yats is a good go to I’m not knocking it I have a plate of Yats once every two months or so. Papa Roux is something else I have had their sausage po-boy and it was great however the Po-boys at Some of this Some of that still rank the best. Oh and the Ragin’ Cajun Kitchen by far the bottom rung of the cajun cuisine of Indianapolis. their bo-boys have too much bread and not enough flavor and their jambalaya was nothing to write about…(No wonder it closed) If you are in the mood for some Louisiana cooking find out where SOTSOT is parked at and check them out Jerk Chicken is the recomendation with red beans and rice.

Probably the best Cajun food I have had in Indianapolis. That says something about the Cajun food in Indianapolis, but it also says SOTSOT is pretty damn good. I lived in Texas for three years and have been to New Orleans 3 – 4 times and am pretty familiar with good, authentic Cajun food. The $ 7 jambalaya reminds me of what I used to get in Texas and Louisiana. And the price is right. Check it out if it’s in your neighborhood.

Yum! Awesome Po’Boy, great cajun food and the nicest people ever. I tried them at the Indie Arts & Vintage Marketplace this month. They’re a regular at the marketplace. Can’t wait until the next IAVM on Sept.1 to sample their breakfast specials.

Jerk chicken! Cooked perfectly and quite delicious. Comes with a very generous helping of red beans & rice(TIP: add the hot sauce from the counter before walking away), plus a nice chunk of cornbread(wonderfully sweet to balance out the jerk spice). I’d absolutely order that chicken again. Best of all, I think the woman working the window was just about the happiest person I’ve ever encountered in a food truck … stop by SOTSOT if you need very good cajun food with a smile.

Imagine my delight as I exited The Vogue, hungry and tired, and there before my eyes was SOTSOT. This was a food truck I had yet to try so my excitement was that much more intensified. While not exactly the best truck option for a vegetarian, they do have excellent Red Beans and Rice as well as CORNBREAD. My first cornbread bite seemed a bit dry… and then I took a second bite and realized that the cornbread was THESHIT. Slightly sweet and obviously made with love. I ordered a second portion before the first was even devoured. My boyfriend had the catfish po’boy which was shoved down the pipes in a matter of seconds. Good work, SOTSOT! You have a loyal customer in me, even if my options are limited!

SOTSOT is awesome. These are the best Po’Boys in Indy by far. Try the crawfish po’boy with the sauce. It really is delicious. The catfish po’boy and jambalaya are also really good. The one downside is that this truck is not consistently in one place.

I just got back from a huge lunch at SOTSOT(acronyms!) I am stuffed, but super happy. We ordered almost everything on the menu, literally. Crawfish po’boy, jambalaya, red beans and rice, sweet potato pie, and top it all off with a couple of lemonades. The side of red beans and rice was huge and served with corn bread. I could have just ate this as a meal, but I would have missed out on all the other deliciousness. It was perfectly prepared. I think next time I am going to out a dash of hot sauce on it, I like my red beans and rice a little on the spicy side. Corn bread was soft, dense, moist, and perhaps bits of jalapenos. The crawfish po’boy was HUGE! Lettuce, tomato, a ton of freshly fried crawfish, a secret spicy sauce, all nestled in a toasted baguette. I could have eaten the bread alone, the secret sauce, or the crawfish alone. Together it was… AWESOME! The bread was chewy and maybe a hint of garlic butter and it held up to the mountains of crawfish and sauce. Be prepared to be messy while eating this sandwich, I don’t suggest eating this on a first date. After 3 bites of this gargantuan I looked like a baby on their first b-day — a happy, huge mess. Now on to my personal favorite, the jambalaya. Perfectly seasoned, not too spicy and anything but bland. Chunks of sausage, chicken, peppers, onions, and the perfectly cooked rice. There is no way I would add anything to this. This is the best jambalaya in town, hands down. I would even put this up against some of the jambalaya I’ve had in New Orleans. It makes me smile just thinking about it… mmmmmm. Top it all off, it’s only $ 7! Don’t forget the sweet potato pie. Crust is nothing to write home about, but the filling is where it’s at. It’s not listed on the menu, but you need to order it! Cinnamon and nutmeg merge perfectly with the sweet potatoes giving rise to one scrumptious piece of pie. Reminds me of my grandma’s b/c there were little pieces of sweet potato, not a perfect pureed filling. One more thing, the duo inside the truck. Dad and son, I love it! Always with a smile and genuinely happy to be there. I have a better time enjoying great food when I encounter someone who is happy to be doing what they are doing. I am already planning my next visit!

Food Tried: — Homemade Jambalaya($ 7) I had the pleasure to know about Some of This, Some of That, before I think even they knew how awesome they were going to be. Every year in Indianapolis, they host Black Expo in July, and have a huge party on the American Legion Mall right downtown. I just happened to be out and walking with some friends after(funnily enough, cajun/creole food) dinner, and we passed a Nawlins food truck. I stopped by, but didn’t buy anything, because I was stuffed full of étouffée. The next morning, I tried vainly to find said food truck on Twitter(haven for all food trucks) with no luck. It wasn’t until Gen Con a few weeks ago that suddenly a new name appeared: Some of This, Some of That! Finally! I got to try the new food truck, on their second night on the streets – the first being the night I saw them at Black Expo. Some of This, Some of That. MOUTH-WATERING. GENUINE. SPICY! I had the jambalaya, which is garnering rave reviews, and for good reason: this is the real deal, but even better. Sausage, chicken, rice, a creamy white sauce, all packed into a take-away box for enjoyment hot or cold. I mean, this was seriously the best cajun I’ve eaten, and I’ve been to New Orleans. I can’t wait to try the Po’Boy, because that’s another staple food that it would be naturally hard to make amazing via food truck. I have faith though. Some of This, Some of That is operating in a niche, and doing a damn good job of it. In terms of pricing, Some of This, Some of That is completely comparable with other food trucks in Indianapolis. And, their servings are very generous. I ate my jambalaya in two sittings, not counting the amount that I shared with friends over the course of the portion. All around, highly delicious and worth the dinero. A few tips! 1. Be prepared! I was sad to wait an hour for my food because you ran out – just a warning, and I’m sure you’re getting the gist now having been on the streets for a few weeks, but we Hoosiers seem to LOVE our food trucks! 2. Recyclable containers, por favor? 3. A shnazzy website! And a menu that’s rip-roaring for internet users everywhere, and also changes a bit here and there. Keep the staples, rotate the rarities.
