Steak ‘n Shake

DIRTY FLOORS throughout restaurant!
Women’s bathroom was just nasty. Dirty floors and feces on the wall in handicapped stall!!!
I’ve never been to a Steak & Shake that looked like this.
Manager was outside smoking and complaining about the employees when we arrived too.
All together super disappointing

If I could I would give this place no stars. Worst service ever, been here for 45 minutes inside and had to tell the waitress that we were here before the other 3 tables she served. She took our order and still served the tables that got here after us their drinks, we only got soda. Wish I would’ve never came here and wasted my time. What makes it even worse is that we have two toddlers with us that still haven’t received anything to drink. Would never recommend this place to anyone, even my worst enemy.
On top of all of this we finally got our order and they only brought out half of our food, totally got one of our orders wrong, and we had to go and get the extra napkins that we asked for a few times. They finally brought out the rest of the order and the food for the 4 year old was still cold and hard.
When we complained they offered to take off the price for the kids meal, but we were there on the weekend and kids eat free on the weekend anyways. The manager yelled at us when we tried to explain that to her. The manager also yelled at the waitress in front of us for trying to take the kids meal off of the ticket.
The place was really dirty, and the floors are stained. Would never recommend this place to anyone, even to my worst enemy.

absolutely gross this place should be shut down by the board of health. just plain sick. run away as fast as you can.

So I checked some of the reviews and they’re mostly old.
This places is much better than what it once was. It seems like there was once over by management and put this place in check.
Now I’m only here for a couple shakes but this places is fairly clean, really friendly, and prompt service.
I was greeted several times upon entering and services quickly.
You guys have to give this place another shot. I know I will come back to have lunch or dinner.

I’m absolutely pissed off at this point. My husband and I are here for simple shakes. We’re the only ones here at 8:41pm. We’ve been waiting for 8 minutes and all the heavy set woman at the window is doing is rolling out change and counting a drawer (very stupid, might I add) and yelling/​arguing with another employee. 10 minutes have went by and now she reaches out the window and isn’t pleasant AT ALLLLLL! She wouldn’t look at us and all she said was «Have a good’n». Needless to say, by that time, I was so heated my blood was boiling. Maybe it was the pregnancy hormones, whatever. Anyways, my husband had to calm me down. I refuse. He better never take me back to this location, ever! I mean come on, couldn’t she have informed us of the wait? Okay, rant over. I’m home about to drink my shake and eat my home cookin’. After all, that’s all I’ve been anticipating on this rainy night.

Wow this place is disgusting. I don’t think they’d cleaned the floors in several days. I ordered a bowl of chili and the server never brought it out. We had a wasp terrorize us but I was able to kill it. Highlight of the meal was dissecting it for the kids and using the magnifying glass app on the iPhone to check it out up close. If you’re on west Washington at and need something to eat, keep driving.

On a recent road trip from CA to OH, we stopped by Steak n Shake for breakfast. It was the worst meal we had in all the states we drove through!
It was the first time in my life I had ordered a meal and not eaten it.
The restaurant was gross and dirty. The food was pretty much the same. The grill was super dirty.
Stay away from this Steak n Shake. It has turned me off to all Steak n Shakes.

This place is the worst!!! The food is fine… if you can get seated or waited on. It is dirty and what makes it worse is the nighttime managers act like they don’t care at all. I work nights close to this place so I frequent this place more than I’d like out of necessity. My co worker and I have walked out a few times because we never got waited on. Go elsewhere!!!

Horrible service along with dirty tables.
We were seated and we had a toddler in need of a highchair. My sister stood there and waited for someone to come around to ask for one… nobody did. She had to search someone down to ask for one. Once the server came to us, she saw we were never given menus and grabbed some. Came back and asked if we were ready about 1 minute later. Finally grabbed our drinks. We were then placing our orders and I noticed when she slid my drink cup over, it left a dirty streak on the table. I was wiping it up and apparently it was my turn to order… I got a rude «Ma’am?!» to grab my attention… while ordering drinks, we ordered 2 kids shakes. They were sitting in the window and getting passed up on being brought by multiple servers as well as the guy making the shakes. After they were there for about 10 mins, my sister WAVED the server down (she was just standing by the register) and asked if they were ours… YEP…they were… of course she blamed everyone else for not bringing them (I agree, they should have but what conversation was so important to not take care of your own tables). My mother told the person checking us out that the service was awful and they pretty much brushed it off. Definitely won’t be back.

This place is absolutely ratchet. How are they still operating? So nasty, there is no way they could pass an inspection of any kind

I could only wish that I could give 10 negative stars for this joke of a place. Every time I order chicken I’m forced to pull up to the edge of the road and wait sum times 10−20−30 mins or until I get fed up and go in. The funny thing is there’s never anyone in the drive thru behind me. It has to be the most disgusting atmosphere of any Steak ‘n Shake I’ve ever been to. The management is the worst of all the employees, they should be training them but instead they play around cuss and do not pay attention to the orders. For a average 4 $ meal I’ve waited over a half hour with only 2 – 3 people inside already with their food. I do not know who runs this place, and they must have no care for the customer and it’s terribly obvious. BE WARE, DO NOT VISIT THIS LOCATION UNLESS YOU LIKE SHIT ASS SERVICE WITHOUT A SMILE!!!
This place sucks

lucky they got 1 star. I was on my way to the bank and needed to get something quick on my way back to work. Pulled into the drive thru and ordered a chicken taco salad, yes a chicken taco salad, for the third time I had to tell the guy a chicken taco salad ! This couldn’t be good. Pulled around to pay and there was a car in front of me. So I do what any red blooded American does, I start checking my emails on my phone. lol. So while I am responding to emails and rocking to the radio, I noticed I have been sitting here for 18 minutes. Yes, 18 minutes, way too long to be in a drive thru waiting for a salad. Luckily they don’t have the coral lanes that keep you trapped. Sorry Steak N Shake, but I am in a bit of a rush to get to work, so I bailed out and went to Taco Bell.

This place is DOWN RIGHT NASTY, and the employees are obviously just plain LAZY! We stopped in to get shakes and us the restroom after a soccer game, that was a mistake!!! The bathrooms were atrocious and so was the dining room. And the employees were obviously as lazy as they come. See my pic of the glass on the floor, and notice the waitress sitting right in front of it! Its not like it is hidden, how many people walk by that and just left it there??? Needless to say we left without getting our shakes, after my experience and the other pics here on Unilocal,i decided against it. And I wish we could give ZERO STARS!!! STAY AWAY!

HORRIBLE serivce. No one knew what they were doing. Continously getting orders wrong. The food was cold. To many employees standing around and playing on their phones rather than working. Employees were also very cocky and rude. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. If you would like to eat at steak n shake I suggest the one in plainfield or the one in greenwood.

HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE SERVICE …
No one knew what they were doing, people were standing around, as one gal start to wait on me, someone yelled out for spoons, she got, then phone rang, must have been personal call, for she yelled name, then left (to find?). .
guy on grill, was not even watching what he was cooking, just threw burgers on, got talking, then went back.
By that time, I was steaming and Walked out, No Order Ever Taken.

Worst experience ever at Steak and Shake. The problems started as soon as we walked in. We were seated quickly but then it took a while to take our order, and the waitress was one of the meanest we have ever encountered. We ignored her attitude then we waited… and waited…, and waited. Mind you the place was almost empty and staff was plentiful. Every 15 minutes or so someone would come out and give us a different story on why our food was not coming out. After a full hour of waiting we got up and told the manager we were leaving, then the waitress came out with our food and actually yelled at us. Being starving after a long flight we sat down and ate. No napkins, no apology, mean waitress, and an hour wait for a hamburger. Which waitress? Large Marge with a bun on her head. Avoid her.

This place blows. Waitress was a ding bat who was running around and complaining out loud about the other workers. She forgot my shake and once we got our food she quit visiting our table. We had to flag down the manager for a drink refill.

Is this place real? I found a large black hair dangling from my wrapped silverware and my salary dressing was spoiled.

Worst layout ever. Huge building but a lot of wasted space inside with the way the counters/​tables are laid out. Parts of the restaurant are cramped while other parts are cavernous.
There’s no dedicated carry-​out register. Only 2 seats at the counter.
Only ordered a milkshake, but it took almost 10 minutes to get it.
