Steak ‘n Shake

I was just in here and they first ignored us and then when I spoke with the manager he said he didn’t even know we were seated. That was not the truth and then when I told him that he was loosing the business of 6 customers he said he would get someone to help. I told him that if he was doing his job we would have already been helped. DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION! He then called me ridiculous as I was leaving.

Food is great at every location but the service is horrible! Takes too long to be seated and I’ve yet to receive my order under ten minutes. One of the servers was pretty short with us and was talking on her phone during her shift. Very unprofessional!

Love Steak N Shake food– Burgers, fries, chili, milkshakes– what’s not to like?
Well for me, the service! I have been to this restaurant about 10 times over the past 3 years since my parents love Steak and Shake and live close to this one. I’d say that the wait staff has got our order wrong 7 out of the 10 times I have been here– I have also seen long wait times, and that was while dining in around dinner on a weekday!!!
If the service improves, I will go back to this restaurant– I also happen to love Chili Mac Supreme and their thin-​cut fries. For the moment I drive 5 miles out of my way to go eat at the Avon location, where the service has always been fine.

Have went to think location numerous amounts of times and never get the correct shake ordered. When dinning in, the service is horrible, and the food isn’t the best. Have tried to give numerous amounts of second chances but just think this location isn’t for me.

This place is under-​staffed, always. The waitress came over to get us but because we had 6 in our group tables had to be cleaned. Another group came in with 3 people and were seated by the same waitress that came to seat us, but she didn’t even start to clean us tables nor get anyone else. So I stood there at the door, holding a one year old. The manager went and cleaned tables then came over to us and asked if we wanted to get seated or wait for the rest of the group. I wanted to be sarcastic and say that I wanted to wait by the front door, with the cold air, holding my baby for my friends but I told him that I would rather get seated. After my friends arrived, we waited for 15 minutes to get a waitress to even come over for our drink order. At this point, we went ahead and placed our food order too. Our food sat under the light at the counter for a good 5 minutes before it got to our table. Half of my hotdog bun was soggy and the only thing I tasted was onion, because there was so much of it. Upon cashing out, we had to stand a good 5 minutes for someone to get to the register. Rediculous! Never again.

I had a mushroom burger which was soooo good! Plus ½ off shakes during happy hour? How can you go wrong. This is a good go to place when you have a hang over or the fancy restaurant didn’t serve enough food.

I absolutely love Steak N Shake. I lived in Indianapolis for a summer while I was in college and went to this place all the time. Then I went back to Idaho where there are no steak n shakes. I now live in Virginia and there are no steak n shakes here either. THis summer I went to Indianapolis for business and I went to steak n shake almost every day. On a couple days twice.
This is my favorite place to go for a burger and shake.

I ordered a vanilla shake with caramel and I’m not really sure who thought this was a good idea but the ratio of shake to caramel was pretty close to fifty fifty… Have you ever sucked straight caramel through a straw before? Like two cups worth of it? It comes highly unrecommended. This was not a shake, it didn’t cure my craving for a shake. Quite frankly, it was unsatisfying diabetes in a cup.

This place rocks the late night food
So I am a Trucker and I am in Indy for a couple hours, waiting on my trailer to get loaded, and it’s like 11pm on a Friday night I know the sidewalks can’t all be rolled up in this town
so I ask one of the kids on the dock what is open that I can sit down and eat I don’t want no damn fast food, IE: the Arches, Taco Bell I want some thing I can’t get in Seattle
so he sends me to Steak N Shake !!! you folks have a winner here
I got the Wisconsin Buttery Steakburger n Fries I had them add Bacon to it, and it was wonderful didn’t need to add anything to it, no mustard or even pepper I truly like this burger just the way it came out, and I like the french fries are like shoe string fries
my coworker had a BLT and said it was very tasty also
very clean place and the people working here were really nice

Another Steak ‘n Shake serving up creamy shakes and tasty food. I was from out of town, desperate for a SnS… this was a nice, clean location.

Truth in branding.
Firstly, the hamburgers are steakburgers. Five stars for that distinction, alone. And the double-​steak cheeseburger is reason enough for God’s creation of cattle (Seeger luggage, and Bentley interiors notwithstanding). Certainly one of the best of «chain» hamburger offerings.
Secondly, the shakes are superb: always perfect viscosity with good body and delicate, but vibrant, flavor (such descriptives aren’t the sole province of vineologists) and always finished off with a celebratory swirl of real whipped cream and a cherry.
Of course, now there are a slew of «johhny come latelys» like Carls and others who are touting their «real ice cream», «hand scooped» shakes, et al. Nice try, but one has to honor the original and best.
While Steak and Shakes are expanding their population through the Midwest and South (literally and figuratively!), the remainder of the Country will have to do with 2^nd rate shakes (and hamburgers).
