Sugar.

I love weddings and my HH (hottie husband) loves cake. We were both more than pleased at a recent wedding where the gorgeously constructed cupcake tower was made up of cupcakes from Sugar. My HH, a self proclaimed baked goods expert, has never actually gushed over a cupcake until he tasted Jennifer’s Champagne cupcake. He unabashedly took several home from the reception. I am more of an icing girl and it did not disappoint. The bite of the champagne against the sweet buttery flavor in the icing was perfect. Definitely would recommend these as opposed to a big chain. Unique flavors and an awesome owner!

It seems like every event we have is now accompanied by cupcakes from Sugar. Birthdays, Valentines Day & parties seem to have some Sugar. cupcakes involved. And they never disappoint in taste, or presentation. We use a cupcake tower at parties and the visual makes it hard to eat (we’ll actually eat the extras first so we don’t have to remove them from the tower).

Where was I when I had my first Sugar cupcake? It’s a blur because in that moment I lost myself in a mystical haze where cupcakes, rainbows and pixie dust rule the world. Needless to say, it was love.
You won’t find Sugar’s perfectly sized ‘cakes in a bakery (just yet), but rest assured wise businesses like Goose The Market, New Day Meadery and Fountain Square Brewery carry them. And why these businesses? Because you’ll find their local ingredients of mead, beer and local meats cleverly intertwined into each recipe. Few things melt my heart more than local biz collaborations.
What I love most about Sugar cupcakes is the size– I often find myself feeling guilty for indulging in a dessert that is way too big and ends up being «force» fed at the end. Sugar’s price to size ratio is spot on.
Hmm… My favorite would have to be the cupcake (drawing blank on name) infused with New Day’s Washington’s Folly. Talk about packed with flavor! Can’t wait to see what Sugar comes up with next!
