This place was on my list for very long and finally I got the chance to give it a try. First of all, I have to say the owner and staffs are so friendly and welcoming. Great thumbs up for that! The 4-star rating is all due to the food. I ordered the classic Cuban since it should be the signature dish. I hate to be so snobby but this is not a cheap cheap place with around $ 10 per sandwich. The portion size is huge for sure, but I really expected the ingredients can be better. The texture of the bread is nice but so lacking good flavor. The mustard and cheese are ok. The roasted pork and ham have a dampened taste instead of pleasant porky aroma. Altogether, it is just a really bland sandwich(in terms of flavor but not salt) I also tried the special rice sides called Moros. The bacon bits are lovely but spice is a little overpowering. Overall, maybe it’s just me that I am not a big fan of Cuban cuisine in general. But I feel it is a little bit overrated.

Absolutely killer sandwiches, killer coffee, and killer flan. And to the owner — killer mustache! I will be going back again and again.

This is the BEST little restaurant in Indy! Eaten here many times and always great food and warm service. The daily specials are great and the sandwiches are the real deal and you even get a free Cuban coffee with every meal!

Came on vacation to Indiana but never thought to find a Cuban restaurant. I felt just at home the food was very good with large portions. The owners are friendly like a good Cuban should be. They represent all we are with food and their friendliness. I always fair with my reviews. I really enjoy what they offered and wish them sucess. Try the cortado and beef pastelillos you won’t regret it. Like it so much that I came for a second time

Lovely food. Lovely service. Great experience. DONOTUSETHERESTROOMS. This is not to say they are at all unkempt, they are lovely. But: head my warning, for it has been months since I’ve known sleep: you will meet a beautiful a woman, she will be everything you have ever wanted and couldn’t even articulate. She will promise you the world, you would take anything. She will tell you to meet outside and you will go to follow her. She will be gone. Vanished. You will never see her again. Your wife will never compare to her touch, her voice, her laugh. You will spend every night for the rest of your life wanting. Replaying this memory until the grooves in the record are so worn down you can’t recall her eye color, only the knowledge that they were something wild. Not of nature. A color either as close to God as any corporeal form can come by or as far away from it as possible. But not of nature, not of nature. This has happened to me and six of my most trusted mates. It has broken us all, seven fine young men, now but waning whispers of the boys we used to be. Forever pining, stopping in every week to see if we might catch a last glimpse of her. Looking around at other tables full of young men like ourselves. Their eyes bloodshot, their hands nervous, every marked countenance in this Cuban Sandwich shop yearns for her. Bleeds for her. Do not use these restrooms.

Taste of Havana is an excellent(my personaly favorite) Broad Ripple lunch option. I have been there several times and have loved each experience. This past Friday i selected the steak sub and it was excellent. For $ 13 I got a large, delicious sub and a shot of espresso. So the espresso(you should go just to try it out) –it comes free of charge with any sandwich order and you can get a coupon for another one free, all you have to do is check-in on Unilocal. The lady in front of me said, I don’t like anything coffee”, but the owner(who is awesome and super friendly) convinced her she hasnt had espresso until she had his. She liked it and ordered another one! Its a cool, unique way to finish off your lunch. There is limited seating and its usually packed, but it’s totally worth your time and money!

A long, long time ago in Atlanta, I had my first authentic Cuban food. Taste of Havana is the closest to that I’m likely to get in Indianapolis. Nestled in the Broad Ripple strip of bro bars, pubs, and shops, this little gem is cranking out fantastic Cuban«samiches.» They offer a wide range of options from a Spanish Cordon Bleu with roasted chicken to the perfectly authentic ham and pork Cuban with crunchy pickles and mustard on chewy bread. Their roasted veggie sandwich features peppers, broccoli, squash, and cauliflower with your choice of cheese. Swiss is the correct answer. We tried the sides of plantains and a flavorful spicy borracho bean soup. Don’t skip out on the espresso shots — their sweetened caffeine was just the jazz I needed to get me through the afternoon. They were making some dessert in the back while we were there, and it smelled wonderful. Definitely a reason to return! They offer catering and only have a few tables and bar seating in their tiny but welcoming space. If you haven’t tried this spot yet, it’s well worth the hassle of parking in BR!

What an absolutely amazing place! Great food and an incredible it friendly staff. I had the pan con leche and wow! Simply fantastic, the group I was with had nothing but great things to say about the other food options. Don’t miss out on the amazing food here!

I have been here twice now and each time I am blown away by the friendliness of the staff and the flavor of the Cuban. I always order a larger sized sandwich because I like left overs but the mini size could easily fill me! The roasted pork is tender and juicy as is the ham, then add a layer of gooey melted cheese, just the right amount of mustard and crunchy, tart pickles. It’s the perfect Cuban! I really want to try their Cuban coffee/espresso too! They have a nice variety of sides too but I think just the sandwich is enough for me. Someday I will branch out and try another of their sandwich selections. The interior is small and colorful. I think this place is a real gem!

What to know: Don’t forget your complimentary shot of espresso! Also, they’re closed on Mondays. I learned the hard way. What to order: You can’t lose with any of the daily specials. It’s usually a delicious meat of sorts with rice and a side of sweet plantains for under $ 7. YUM. Bottom line: Casual Cuban sandwiches in the heart of Broad Ripple bring a little more diversity to the strip.

Man oh man, why didn’t I find this place sooner? Are you looking for authentic cubans? Friendly service? Fun and cozy atmosphere? If not then head right down to McDonald’s, but if you said YES then get yourself to TOHASAP! This is one of those places that you’ll dream about after you go once. All other Cubans in Indy will be ruined for you, but that ain’t a bad thing! Located on the strip in Broad Ripple, parking can be a little tricky depending on when you visit but trust me, it’s worth it. You’ll find yourself in a brightly painted and welcoming(albeit very tiny) space looking at a big menu. You want a Cuban. Trust me, you want a Cuban. The sammies are big, so if you’re going to order a larger size plan to split it with your favorite Unilocaler or take it home. There are plenty of sides to choose from, but I enjoyed the rice. While this restaurant is totally instagrammable, they encourage you to visit with your friends and family instead of spending time on your phones. Check in and then toss your phone in your pocket. Believe me, you’re going to want both hands free to hold your sandwich!

Awwweeee, yeah! Indy has a little taste of Havana right in the heart of Broad Ripple and I couldn’t be happier. My favorite Cuban spot closed a few years back, so I was thrilled to learn I finally have a new spot to get my fix when I’m craving a Cuban sandwich. After a second successful trip to Taste of Havana, I know consider this spot a new local fave! As soon as I walked in I was warmly greeted by the gentleman behind the register. He was insanely personable and quite funny. This time around I wanted to try something a little different so I ordered the Turkey Cuban sandwich and a strawberry cream cheese pastry to go. I wish my schedule allowed me to dine in because I love the atmosphere. Warm and friendly. Bright and vibrant décor. Lots of images of Cuba which was a nice escape from the brutally cold IN weather. It didn’t take too long for my sandwich to arrive. I almost sped home because I was, well, borderline hangry and was ready to throw down! As soon as I got home, I dug in! Mannnn, the sandwich was huge. One bite, two bites, then half a sandwich later I was on the border of entering a food comma. It was so stinking good, but half the sandwich was all I could handle. The combination of turkey, ham, Swiss cheese, mustard, and pickles was pure perfection. Definitely worth the $ 10 price tag. I ate the second half for dinner along with the pastry, which unfortunately wasn’t as good as I hoped. This place is pretty AMAZING and definitely worth checking out.

Mmm. Mmm mmm mmmmmm. I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to try Taste of Havana, but I’m so dang happy that I didn’t wait any longer. Where else to start besides their signature Cuban sandwich? The pork… Oh, the pork! Such flavor. I took one bite and was just blown away. Clearly there’s no coincidence involved in this establishment’s #1 rating. I did, in fact, have the sudden urge to salsa dance and smoke a cigar. I did, in fact, start planning my trip to Cuba. I did, in fact, text all my friends and tell them to hurry in and try it for themselves. Taste of Havana is a true gem. If you haven’t gone, salsa dance your way on over to Broad Ripple and stop in for a bite.

I’m sad to report that Taste of Havana left me a little disappointed. When I heard that a new Cuban place had opened in Indianapolis, I was so excited that I had my wife take me there straight from the airport.(Funny enough, she was picking me up after my trip to Miami, so Cuban food was already on my mind.) The Fricase de Pollo(Chicken Fricassee) was just okay. It wasn’t particularly flavorful, and the bed of rice it came on was soggy. We also ordered a beef pastelito, but got chicken. And while that’s obviously not a terrible mistake, the pastelito itself was pretty bad. Much too sweet, and not in a good way. It was a little like those cheap danishes that someone brought to your office a few days ago, and that have just been sitting around since then. The cafecito that came with our meal was a nice touch, but ultimately, this also left us pining for Miami. The foamy top was exceptional, and it was beautifully presented in a shot glass that allowed us to watch the foam settle out. But it just didn’t have the richness that we were expecting. It should also be said that the place was cute and the prices were reasonable. We particularly liked the crocodile-themed wall painting over the front door. Underwhelming on a number of levels, and nowhere equal to the hype. The Cuban place on Moller and 38th is far superior.

Loved the cortadito! Great Cubano coffee drink with ½ milk, ½ expresso for $ 2.75. Since there’s a $ 5 minimum I also got a coconut flan. Both were delicious. Seriously, I am in love with the cortadito. It was very sweet. And although served in a small cup there was a lot of caffeine. I look forward to coming back for a pastelito and sandwich.

Background: I most definitely will be back, this place is so friendly! I love the authenticity! When we walked in we were greeted and taken care off. I did not want to assume that the owners were Cuban, so I waited until I heard them speak in Spanish. Once that was established, I proceeded to ask them if they were from Cuba, and we had a lovely conversation! Review: I had to taste the classic Cuban torta! I loved it! Towards the end of our meal the owner came out and offered us some free Cuban coffee shots! Also try the Coconut Flan! Atmosphere– B Food– A Customer service– A

Bienvenido a la pequeña Habana right in the heart of Broadripple! While it’s cold and gloomy outside, upon stepping into this cozy restaurant filled with bright Cuban memorabilia, it’ll definitely give you the warm fuzzy feeling. So order away at the counter. I like simple little menus. We’ll have a regular classic El Cubano and a lunch special Lechon Asado(slow roasted pork w/onions marinated in mojito atop black beans and white rice embellished with a sweet plaintain). Oh, don’t forget to order a «Cordadito»(½ milk/espresso) while you wait. Yes, my tastebuds are a little bit spoiled from a visit to Southern Miami, but Taste of Havana sure does their Cuban sandwiches right. Mr. «Papi» George wasn’t around this weekend, so the ambiance was a little glum without his cheery presence. Nonetheless, their famed sammiches hold true. Perfect amount of protein, cheese, mustard, and pickle. Normally I absolutely HATE pickle chips and yellow mustard, but I devoured ½ of that thing without any hesitation. The rice was just so-so for me… a little wet/flavorless/instant? Fiancé said so too. While the roasted pork was super tender, it was a little bland even with some hot sauce mixed in. I think I’ll stick to the sammiches and perhaps try a different one of their weekday lunch specials. I had to order a cheese and guava pastellito in a stamped paper bag and another addictive cordadito to go on the way out. Savor the whole experience, right? — I just cut open the pastry at home for after dinner dessert. I think my tastebuds just exploded with that sweet guava and creamy cheese inside. 1 just isn’t enough, think I’ll have to get double next time.

I have been to Taste of Havana a few times now and I am blown away each time by the experience. Starting with the food, as that is the main attraction, there is no wrong choice, the sandwiches are the perfect combination of meat, cheese, and bread. If it is your first time, without a doubt you should get the original Cuban, it is in my humble opinion, the perfect sandwich. The other sandwiches they have are plays on the Cuban, but all great as well. One of my favorite things on the menu is their every day special ‘Lechon Asado’ roasted pork over rice and beans, really amazing. They also serve sweet and savory pastries, they are a great add on or meal in themselves, with the sweet option grab a guava pastelito. Past the food; the owner, his family, and workers are absolutely the best, always happy and always accommodating, pleasant to the point where even if the food was not great I would come back. Oh, and the Cuban style coffee should not be missed!

Let’s start off by saying right when you walk in the door you feel like you are on vacation. The owner and employees are some of the nicest people on earth. We got the Cuban sandwich and the Cuban with turkey. We got the medium sandwiches and they were huge. My wife and I each only eat half. They were both good sandwiches and every person in the restaurant seamed very pleased with there meal. The best part of our meal was the small shot glass of Cuban coffee at the end. They have a sign in there saying they have the best Cuban coffee in town, well I think the sign is wrong they probably have the best coffee in town period.
