Learned about Value World just the other day, and decided to incorporate all three Indianapolis locations into our trip. This was the first one we visited. Being primarily interested in toys, we walked in and immediately found our way to the children’s area, which was smaller than just about any Goodwill. There were only a few items, and my partner and I both honed in on the only two items of interest… a Spider-Man baseball glove and a Spider-Man car. I looked at the glove, which had something written in chalk on it that I assumed was from the original owner, and we both looked all over the car for a tag. There was a woman standing a few feet away with a cart, who I assumed was a shopper. She kept eyeing us. Finally my girlfriend asked her if she worked there. I was like oh shit, this is going to be uncomfortable, but it turns out she actually did work there in spite of the fact that she bore no nametag or Value World branded clothing. We asked where the prices were, and she informed us that they were written directly on the product. The price just happened to have rubbed off the car. We took the car up to the register for pricing, as well as a beautiful«Cat-Opoly» board game that we found. I asked what the price would be on the car($ 2.02, a square deal) and asked if the board games are checked for completeness. Normally I check myself, but the box was wrapped like a prank Christmas present with packing tape. The employee seemed uncertain in his tone but told us that he was sure it(probably) did. Unless it is store policy to check, then in my experience there really is no guarantee. More often than not board games that are donated are missing at least a few pieces, so I felt it was unprofessional to be reassured that it was complete, without actually knowing if it was checked by an employee. I also prefer for tape to be used minimally, if at all, as opposed to being wrapped completely around the box, which can pull the cover off when removed or alternately just look bad if left on. While I was a bit annoyed about the uncertainty regarding whether or not the game I was purchasing actually had all the pieces, the employee was friendly and didn’t act like he hated being there. The selection of items I was personally interested in was limited and one of the three was more expensive than it was worth for the condition it was in, but hey, it is a thrift store that I have only visited once, so I can’t say what the normal selection is like. Maybe awesome items are stocked out often but swiped up fast. For us, it was a quick stop, not an awesome one but not a bust, either. Might stop in again sometime, but if we don’t, I wont be lying awake at night wondering what I have missed.

One of the best low-cost charity stores in Indianapolis! They are always stocked up on merchandise the store is huge! Clear out your schedule because it takes a good while to go through it all. They have an okay selection of children’s books, but their price per book beats out Goodwill. They have a punch card where you can save 50 percent off your entire purchase after spending 50 dollars(which is easy to do if you love thrift stores). The employees are very kind and helpful, make sure you take off your own hangers for them it makes checkout a lot faster for them, and for other customers waiting in line behind you. The only thing I would change is the fact that they do not have a dressing room. Only two mirrors in the store where you can try things over your own clothes, or simply hold it up to yourself.

One of my fav thrifting spots. I’ve scored big here so many times! Designer dresses, a Kitchenaid stand mixer, and a mid century dish set to name a few. Constantly changing inventory. You just gotta dig consistently! Nice employees and the opportunity to come up every time you enter the store.

Dittos to what the others said. Parents: take your kids here to shop! They are going to outgrow or destroy their clothes anyway. Most clothes here are as good as new! Better selection, quality, organization and cleanliness than the Goodwill up the street! Men’s casual clothes section, especially jeans and cargo shorts/pants, is much better here than the GW at 61st and Keystone. Look for 50% off coupon in weekly coupon thing in the mail. Not every week though.

I can’t resist stopping in here, especially when their 50% off coupons are out. Like a giant garage sale, lots of junk but so many diamonds in the rough! Plenty of clothing & accessories to sort through; sometimes you’ll find a great pair of gently aged Levi’s in just the right size. Books arranged by color & household goods are in a back room, where you might find a nice basket or two. Love the plastic grab bags — filled with smaller loose items that go together, like kid’s toys or a patriotic theme or crafty supplies. Fun & cheap! My favorite score was a great vintage crib in pieces, with cute frolicking lambs; currently using the side guard rails as magazine racks leaning against the wall, displaying colorful covers.(saw on Pinterest) But the best time to visit Value World is Hallowe’en time. My, oh my do they have what you need for this most awesome of holidays! Decorations, masks, wigs, hats, clothing items to complete the look. If you don’t see what you need, inventory changes here quickly so try again in a few days.

I’ve been shopping here for 20 years, and still call it Value Village. Now my kids are all adults and they all shop here. We love it. The employees are some of the friendliest people I’ve met. Years ago, I left my purse in the cart when I left, not realizing it for at least 30 mins. By the time I got back(without calling them) it was safe and sound behind the counter. Good people!

Our favorite neighborhood thrift store never fails to come through. A few years back, I needed to accessorize my daughter’s Frida Kahlo costume for the Irvington Halloween Festival. Leave it to VW to have all the bangles and bohemian jewelry needed to pull it off! Every so often you’ll come across a half off coupon deal. That’s when we get the most bang for our buck & team up. My teen and I can spend hours loading up a cart and leave spending $ 50. There are treasures to be found if you take the time to look! I would be doing a disservice if I didn’t mention the staff. We get recognized as we enter and everyone is very helpful and friendly. Do them a favor and take your clothes off the hangers. Pay attention to the color of the week for a 50% savings.

I love thrift stores. My hubby and I flip things and sell them on eBay. We always find great things at Value World. Yes, this is a thrift store so you know what to expect. We aren’t talking Nordstom’s here, so get over that. If you are a thrift store lover, Value World is by far the best. Great prices, variety of selection, and they have half off coupons occasionally. Love this place!

My secret is out – Goodwill is my jam. However, Value World has a lot to offer that Goodwill does not. That includes… JEWELRY! Value World has tons of unique and funky stuff. Also, if you would like an ugly tacky Christmas gear=Do NOT go to Goodwill. They have nothing there. Tons at Value World! Check it out!
