A friend bartends there, and it is open to the public, even lifelong civilians. The first initial stands for Veterans, hence the older crowd. Also needless to say, lots of military souvenirs on the walls. Drinks are very inexpensive, probably as cheap as anywhere in town. Good food too, I understand. I’ve only had all-you-can-eat spaghetti, offered for $ 6 on the first Thursday of each month, lots of sauce and meat balls, and good. A major issue is smoking. It’s bad enough people can still smoke in enclosed facilities in this state(bars), but when I was there earlier this year for a fund raiser for another friend’s grand child who died, in the meeting hall in back of the main bar, adults could(and did) smoke in this room while many small children were also in the hall. I applaud our veterans for their service to this nation, but when one of these old soldiers(post commander) allows minors to be exposed to said cancer, he is committing borderline, if not outright, child abuse. Same with mommys and daddys of the little ones.
