Stayed here with a couple of friends for Coachella Weekend 1. When we arrived, Ken and his staff gave us a warm welcome even though it was close to 9PM. Reading other reviews made me a bit nervous since a lot of reviews mentioned the rooms were dirty and not family friendly. When entering the room, I was relieved because the room was cleaned and there were no dirty blades, bugs, and stains in sight(read previous Unilocal reviews)!!! I was impressed with the place(our room also has a microwave, a fridge/freezer, and a stove). It’s a great place to stay for a budget friendly inn. The only downside I can think of was the shower water pressure. On the first night we stayed there, the water pressure was good(we believed it’s because there are a few of us staying there). While on other nights(when there were more people staying) the water pressure was a bit weak, though I’m not complaining since the water was still hot. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a budget friendly inn when in Indio, CA :)

This is BYFAR… THE… nastiest, most raunchy, beat down, smelly, piece of crap motel I have ever been too. It took me 45 seconds from the moment I walked in the door to notice the horrid smells, see the blood and vomit stains on the carpet that had never been cleaned. I would never recommend this motel to anyone in the world. Please, for your own, health, well-being and life might I add, DONOTSTAYATTHEPALMSHADOWINNMOTEL on 80761HIGHWAY111, Indio, CA, 92201. P. s. The owner is nice. But please take care of your sh**.

Booked this place through for Stage Coach, which gave it three stars. This was one of those places, that if I could give it 0 stars, I would– this place makes the Bates Motel look cozy. When I first pulled up, there was a room with a boarded door, and the rest of the place just looked to be in disrepair. I asked to see the room before checking in– and am so glad I did. The room smelled like smoke, puke, and urine. The sink cabinet had a portable stove top that had caught fire and melted part of the top. One of the cabinet doors was missing, and the door was sitting on top of the cabinet. I pulled the sheets down, and there was hair on the bed. I could continue, but I’m going to stop because I’m sure I’ve painted a decent enough picture to get an idea of the quality of this place. I went back to the check in counter and told the manager in no uncertain terms that the place is effing disgusting and to cancel my reservation. This place should simply be leveled and the space used for something more useful.

If you’re looking for something fancy and clean, this is not the place for you. I would describe this motel as a place just to sleep and shower. The room reeked of lingering cigarette smoke; the bathrooms walls reminisced of 70’s décor; the bed sheets were scratchy and rough(the pillows were also questionable); and the carpet was old and dingy. The only highlight I would mention is the amount of natural light and size of the bathroom. I booked a room here last minute because my sister and I decided last minute to go the 2nd weekend of Coachella. Honestly, you can’t beat the location(it’s about 5 minutes away from the venue). This place isn’t that bad if you’re just looking for a place to crash for a night, but there are definitely a lot of better places out there.

I have stayed at the Palm Shadow Inn since the 1980s. It was a hidden jewel with beautiful grounds, comfortable rooms, and plenty of peace and quiet, yet close enough to the attractions of Palm Desert and Springs. That all has CHANGED. it was, sadly, recently sold and is a completely different place, more akin to a flop house. I for the life of me cannot understand why anyone would buy a motel and then basically ruin it. The rooms had been«remodled» which is a nice way of saying ruined. Crappy drapes, a «cement» bed” and run down furniture. It made the Bates Motel seem like the Marriot! I had spent many a nice morning sitting in the patio area but when I looked out of the window, there was no furniture to sit on, all of the shrubs had been pulled up and there was a rusty old pipe cutting machine sitting on the patio! I didn’t stick around long enough to check out anything else in the room worked. I immediately went to the office and asked for my money back. The one positive thing I can say about the place is that the proprietor didn’t argue with me or give me a bad time. He politely refunded me and we quickly evacuated the primises. Though we found a nice place to stay at the local Best Western I was in shock for the rest our stay. It was as if I had lost an old friend.

I have to update my review from a previous good experience to that of one that blah«wouldn’t come back». We stayed here recently only because it was closer to the venue that my girlfriend was having her mother’s 70th birthday party at and we didn’t want to fuss with drinking and driving so we wanted to be close enough where we could cab it. The Ace was not even remotely close and previous stays here in the past were pleasant enough that we didn’t mind. Scratch that. now. Palm Shadow Inn was recently sold and«remodeled». We walk into our«recently remodeled» room to find that it was an eyesore. Whoever the owner used to «remodel and decorate» blows and should be slapped in the face for choosing this color scheme and having such a bad taste in design. This place certainly has been remodeled to look bad. The owners family member told us that they up the rates to $ 200 or more for Coachella time. Such a crime. There was no alarm clock, coffee pot, toiletry stuff(I always bring my own but they used to provide some). Towels were old with stains. The pool didn’t look so clean like it used to. I was just really turned off by the entire stay. We phoned other hotels in the area and oddly enough hotels that we looked into were sold out which I thought was rare. Who would want to spend 4th of July in the hot desert right? Anyhoo… I am an avid coffee drinker. I had to get up drive to La Quinta in search of a Starbucks. Come 11:00am the front desk was rudely phoning our room asking«when are you leaving». This chick swears that they had people trying to get in. The place was empty. Granted they recently took over Palm Shadow Inn I still feel like someone should not open their doors for business if they plan to «remodel» Pffft. Remodel my arse. This place use to have it’s old charm now it’s just tasteless and very cheap. When we walked into the office to ask if they could phone a cab for us the older lady(a different one) gave us the phone to speak to her husband. She didn’t speak English and we don’t speak Hindi. How will you run a business if you can’t speak to your patrons? Sorry to rip them one. I used to like this place for its retro charm. This place would be the perfect boutique hotel if remodeled the proper way. It could certainly be the«Ace» number two. Oh well. C’est la vie“ I will say it’s cheap off season.
