PETROCKS: While you can’t buy love with money, you can buy weird little gifts, like pet rocks from Star Registry, to show your love. Unlike the ‘70s fad, these pet rocks actually look more like pets than rocks, and have cute names. Is that an improvement? I’m not sure! But no matter which one you order, your pet rock will be lucky to find a home with an unsuspecting human of your choosing. Rocky(Rabbit: ) — More rock than rabbit, this pet isn’t going to do any jumping. But it will do some rocking… if by rocking, one means it will sit there like a rock. It’s a personable one, at least, with long ears. Stinky(Skunk: ) — There’s no better way to say, «I’m sorry,» than with a pet skunk rock. Your recipient already knows you stink. Now, they’ll always have a reminder. Granite(Zebra: ) — Is this rock black with white stripes or black with white stripes? Maybe it’s both. If you want someone to ponder deep philosophical issues like this one, or maybe that person just likes zebras for whatever reason, this is the rock to give. Avalanche(Pig: ) — For when your feelings for your gift recipient are so strong, one budge and the whole thing becomes a snowy rockslide of emotion. Mica(Parrot: ) — Send Mica to a recipient who tends to copy everything you do, wear and say, and include a note to say, «Cut that out!» Maybe they’ll give you one in return, who knows. Boulder(Cow: ) — Moo! That just about says it all for this one. Not the sharpest rock in the yard, but Boulder’s actually one of the cutest. Chip(Mouse: ) — Chip off the old block? Chip on your shoulder? Chip n’ dip? Everyone’s afflicted with some kind of chip, so this quiet rodent is a safe bet to gift to just about anyone. Roller(Monkey: ) — Are you cold as a stone or do you like to monkey around? This solid primate is the latter. He kind of looks like a mouse, though. Maybe he’s pretending to be a monkey? Hide your granite bananas, anyway. Hard Luck(Elephant: ) — Everyone goes through a run of hard luck every now and then. If you know someone who needs a pick-me-up, be sure to send this little guy to do just that. Stoner(Duck: ) — Not sure what the correlation is between a duck and a stoner, but if you hold this lucky charm in your hand long enough, maybe it’ll come to you. Pebbbles(Dog: ) — A dog is a traditional pet. A rock is an untraditional pet. Pebbbles, with three Bs, is both. What he lacks in obedience, he makes up for in hardness. Fracture(Cat: ) — Behaves like a real cat through much of the day. Like Roller the Monkey, this one looks a bit like a mouse to me. Why didn’t i-Star Entertainment just make a rocking mouse? Oh wait, they did(see Chip ). Almost anyone can become a pet guardian, but not everyone has the time, energy, space, resources, know-how, or right temperament to take proper care of other living things. When you bring home a pet rock, you can practice being a parent(responsibilities include dusting off your pet rock twice a week) without potentially endangering lives or your wallet. The best part is that, for a limited time only, if you ‘Like’ International Star Registry on Facebook, your pet rock will be free, with a regular shipping and handling charge(see for more info). If you’re a sucker for freebies like me, you’re ready to adopt. The hardest part? Picking who’s going to be the lucky recipient of your stoic pet rock.

Star Registry announces a deal on livingsocial. My boyfriend loves stars and I thought the best gift would be to register a star under his name for Christmas. 4 months later, no one can find my order and livingsocial will not offer me a credit or refund. I have gone back and forth. Star Registry although nice just kept pointing me to livingsocial. LivingSocial, strung me along via email and phone. Sending me another code, it was not another code it was the code I used the first time to place an order so when I tried it, it stated this code had been redeemed. When I called them they told me to contact Star Registry. I called them and they stated again, they couldn’t do anything as they couldnt see my order. I have been going back and forth with livingsocial and finally 4 months later they have stated I am at a loss. I get it, it was a deal so half off, but at the end of the day it was the principle. My boyfrined and I waited for a gift that never came and both International Star Registry and Livingsocial have left a badtaste in my mouth.
