Sam & Louie’s

I went here with a group of eight. We ordered a couple pizzas; supreme, peperoni, and hawaiin. They came within a reasonable time. They were good, very filling.
This is an average pizza place, but the best in the Iola area.

Don’t bother. My husband and I both ordered their version of a Stromboli, but I was served a Calzone, which was piping hot, with hardly any filling in it at all. Mine was a Veggie. For 9.49 a piece, it’s a rip-​off. My husband’s custom Stromboli that had Italian sausage in it was room temperature. Hopefully the red sauce that came with it isn’t what they use on their pizzas. The order came out slow, compared to the tables around us. The waitress asked us how things were after we were done, and I told her what I am stating here. I did point out when the order came that I ordered a Stromboli — she even asked me while ordering if I wanted a calzone — and I said «no, a Stromboli» and she offered to make me one to replace the calzone, but I didn’t want to wait. She offered to send one home with me, but it wasn’t convenient for us at that time to take one packing. She offered at the end to send the manager over, which I agreed to. The manager never showed up, but rather decided on a $ 2.00 adjustment. The waitress put the payment folder on the table closed and asked if that was okay. No, that is not okay. Paying for one lukewarm item, rather than two items, would have been acceptable. I don’t know how the people in Iola can take the lack of restaurants in their town, not to mention lack of quality, value, and taste.

Food is usually good, last couple times the service hasn’t been the best. and last time the AC must have been acting up because it was 85 inside and 80 outside. Good beer selection.

Unbelievable… Expensive and so not worth it… I tried the lasagna… A nice portion with cheese on top but where was the cheese and goodies in the middle… Just a lot of pasta… So not worth it… after giving it about four bites… I could not take another bite… I pushed it away… Now I was being polite but I expected that they would offer me another choice but oh no… That four bites cost me twenty one dollars… I will never go there again… I’m sure the pizza is probably good but the lasagna is not… Shame they did not care enough to offer me another choice… I am not one to expect to get something for nothing… I was polite and paid my bill… I still tipped… But pretty disgusted how they charged me twenty one dollars for something I could not eat

My wife and I have eaten here a few times. The service has always been good. The inside as outside are kept clean. The pasta has been good every time. The pizza on the other hand is an issue. This last time both of the ones we ordered were burnt, not to the point of being garbage but bad enough that I couldn’t eat more then a couple pieces. Should we come here again, we won’t be ordering pizza at all because of this experience.

I ate here a few times while I lived in the area. The service was usually good, but one time they were kinda slow and neglectful. I’ve heard the same from others.
The food is alright. It’s your typical chain restaurant, so it’s consistent but not brilliant. The best part is the beer selection. They had O’Dell Loose Leaf on tap, which was an unexpected surprise and very much appreciated, because good beer is hard to come by in this town.
