Hard to leave empty handed. Full of tasteful and entertaining items.

This is one of my favorite places to shop in Iowa City. The store is clean and full of interesting antiques and pieces. The owner… wonderfully funny and helpful. I can not say one bad thing about this place… LOVE it.

We stopped into Decorum for some perusing after brunch one weekend and were pleasantly surprised with what we found. As mentioned in the previous reviews, this place is much more minimalist than most antique stores. They’ve got a good size room, but things aren’t falling all over each other. The selection of pictures was pretty extensive and in the back they have plenty of upscale-esk clothing that straddles trendy/hipster/elegant. Unique to any of the stores we’ve been in. In the back of the store they have a good amount of what appeared to hand made jewelry that ranged from cute and funny to «seriously you’re going to put that political statement on a necklace». Nonetheless, it was certainly nicer than anything at Claire’s and lets you tell those around you, you’re A) A little into comedy or B) Against the establishment — whatever floats your boat, it’s your world in here! Among the other knick-nacks including some silverware sets, a number of ornate boxes, some dia de los muertos figurines in the back and a large picture of a rabbit was the the item that most impressed us — a large stained glass window that had come off a church out in the country. It adorned the front half of the store and was stunning. The gentleman who was working the desk told us such items come in on a fairly regular basis. He was very helpful and seemed like he was pretty familiar with the business. Prices were very sensible and the offerings ranged from inexpensive to high, but not unreasonable. Overall, this place is solid. Less stuff than most of the stores in the area, but higher quality as a whole. We walked out with a framed magazine add from the 50’s stating«More Doctors smoke Camels than any other Cigarette». We’ll definitely be back for more!

The fella behind the counter is as helpful as a boy scout is to old women crossing the street. He is happy, quirky and witty. I highly recommend this shop for its reasonably priced good both old and new. Their Oaxacan sculptures and day of the dead merchandise is amazing. Go here after you go to Artifacts so that you can see what a real shop is supposed to be like after you are ignored at Artifacts.
