Ordered delivery, before they left the restaurant with my food, they give me a call and the guy just says a bunch of gibberish and I ask him kindly to please repeat himself. He then proceeds to be extremely sarcastic to me. «Have you heard of Gumby’s Pizza, did you order a pizza, do you live at –my address-​, can you meet me in the lobby in five minutes? That’s wonderful!» Literally this guy treated me like a four year old.
When the delivery guy finally got there (who I am 99% sure is the same guy on the phone), he gave me my pizza and pokey stix and before he left I asked him who might have called me to let me know my food was on the way. He asked me if it was a male or female, and I told him it was a male. He said it was probably someone named ‘Cyclops’ and asked why. I told him whoever called me was extremely condescending and rude. He then proceeded to turn around and run back to his car and said «Well if you don’t like it there’s plenty of other places to order pizza from. Honestly never been treated so poorly by a business, will NOT be getting any more of my business and I am going to tell everyone in Iowa City to never get pizza from Gumby’s.
P. S. When I opened the boxes, my order was completely screwed up and stuff I paid for was not on there. I would call for a refund but it’s doubtful I would get one after reading other reviews. Definitely avoid this place like the plague.

This ghetto note is representative of the food at Gumby’s. I wasn’t aware that Gumby’s charges .15 per packet of parmesan and crushed pepper. I’m fine paying for it, but wasn’t aware that I had to pay for it, so the «manager» Libby gives this to the delivery driver to give to me. This review is for the owner Tom — First of all please get some good stationary for your staff so that Libby can write her complaints to guests on white paper, not a cut out piece of cardboard. Secondly — your manager Libby should call the guest directly rather than making the delivery guy do her dirty work. Third, teach Libby that in the food service industry, when paying guests ask for something for their meal, its a request not a «complaint.» Finally, please work with the manager Libby and coach her on her customer service. When I asked for the owner’s contact information, she said that «the owner «Tom» never comes to work so he probably wouldn’t call you back anytime soon. Also, she didn’t even offer an apology, nor any suggestions to help. I definitely would try this place again if Libby learns how to interact with guests.

The pizza isnt that great but its a really great great good good great great deal if you order the biggest size they have when they have buy one get one free.
The specialty pizzas are ok.

I ordered a wing basket, but they gave me the chicken tender with fries. I dislike chicken tender!

Holy buckets the prizza was so big I was able to wrap myself in it completely, toes and all. Becky chomped a couple holes for me to see and breathe through and we watched the hunger games. She chomped a hole for something else *winkwink* about half way through the movie. Yumyumyum

Honestly, fast delivery and delicious greasy pizza. Got a pizza in twenty minutes on a Saturday night. Would recommend the stoner pie!

Its a little sketchy on whether they will or have followed special requests which can be pretty disastrous when they are requested for food allergy issues. Even within one order I’ve had the request followed for one item and not the other. Pastas aren’t bad and usually the garlic rolls are alright

Gumbys for the price, whatever you can’t really go that wrong with pizza. The pizza itself is mediocre for cheap cheap cheap, and they are open late too. Good drunk food. The pokey sticks are actually pretty decent, order some of those with your pizza. (Ps ask for marinara, they don’t come with it)

Ordered 3 pizzas that were supposed to arrive in 40 min. After over an hour and half they never arrived so when I called they said «we tried calling and couldn’t get a hold of you» I never got a call and they still expected me to pay over $ 40 for it

While here in Iowa City we decided to try a few different pizza places. Gumbys staff was friendly and seemed to know the menu and specials well. Our food arrived within the time quoted to us, but I have to say I was not impressed with the looks of the driver. He looked kinda dirty and was not very friendly I assume because he was in a hurry with other orders to take. The food was not bad, but not very memorable either. The pokie sticks were not cooked all the way and we asked for extra ranch (and was charged for) that did not arrive. We did not call back to complain because we were hungry and it wasnt that big of deal. There are better choices for pizza in Iowa City. They have a huge menu.

Only under the most desperate of circumstances should you eat Gumby’s.

The LOCATION makes it a bit tedious to find if you haven’t been there before.
The PRICES are a bit absurd.
The PIZZA itself is not bad, but it’s not memorable at all, and I certainly wouldn’t pay full price for it. We used a Groupon which made the price much more reasonable, but I’m still not interested in returning. We went with a relatively tame specialty pizza, but even if you add cheese sticks as a topping, it’s not going to change how the pizza itself tastes. Usually I’ll finish off a pizza by myself no problem. With Gumby’s, something about it made me only want so much. Sad thing is I was still hungry.
The POKEY STIX aren’t memorable, but they’re certainly adequate for what they are. Unfortunately, you have to pay for any sauces to go with the Pokey Sticks, and although they’re not horribly priced, it’s a bit of an annoyance to have that hidden cost stuck in there.
The SERVICE was fine. We went on a night when it certainly wasn’t busy. The service is anything but formal, which is fine, and while the guy I spoke to on the phone didn’t seem terribly knowledgeable about things, he was pleasant and willing to find answers for me.
SUMMARY: It’s not bad pizza, but it’s not great, and it’s not worth the price. You’d do much better to go with Papa John’s or Domino’s.

Stoner Pie. Probably the worst thing you could possibly order, but you make it into a calzone and then tell me it isn’t amazing.
However, even beyond that the food here is great. Pokey Stixs, great. All of their pizzas, perfect. Best of all, their deals and delivery service definitely put them above most other pizza places I’ve tried in Iowa City. Gumby’s is a staple item in my delivery diet.

Great! Best pizzas are the Heartattack and the Stoner. Pokey sticks are also a great choice! Heartattack = double cheese, pepperoni, and bacon. Stoner = pepperoni, bacon, cheese sticks, and French fries.

food suck and the people who work there are a-​holes

Pokey stix I miss you. These were definitely a staple to my drunk food diet in college and were amazing every time. I even loved having them cold the next morning… mmmm delicious.

I just had Pokey sticks for the first time. They are the perfect drunk snack! They are so easy to share, and easy to eat «just 1 more». I wish we had these in Chicago. Actually I take that back, I do not need to get hooked on them!

I lived on these things in college. So did the rest of the 20+ pounds I put on. I will always remember finding ways to trick Gumby’s into giving us free pizzas by not giving the delivery drivers the coupons. Great memories.

Gumby’s is great for their many many creative combinations of pizzas and pastas. The pizza is always interesting, but my favorite are the ziti bowl things, the Black Bean Chicken pasta is the best.
