Wasn’t by any means a world class gym, but at the price it couldn’t be beat. Unfortunately, it was recently bought by CORE Fitness and they jacked up the price for all the current members. PLUS, we have to drive to their other two facilities, which are much further away, in order to workout during the months of June and July while they remodel. Let’s just hope that it’s worth them jacking my rate up $ 17/month. There best be some serious improvements. I liked New Life because it was cheap. But now I’ve not much choice in the matter.

Bought by CORE fitness who made prices go from $ 30 to $ 44 immediately. That sucks.

Pros: I have been to a wide variety of classes and they have all been really great. Most important for me is that they have affordable childcare, a pool, and I have never had to wait to use the pool or elliptical equipment since they don’t have many members. The staff are very friendly and great with the kids and since there aren’t that many members they know you by name and miss you when you skip. It’s nice that the members ages vary widely, so it feels more like a family than a meat market or an undergrad-a-thon, so it has a good feeling overall. Cons: Their website is broken. The building is quite old and there are lots of little details everywhere that are ignored like a continually leaking toilet. I reported it, but it was a joke to them representing how nothing will ever get fixed. However, most upsetting are the logistics of the membership which are a series of loopholes. First, the monthly fee has to auto-debit for month to month membership. I had my card stolen so I had to cancel it but since that same day my auto-debit went when my card was no longer active they charged me a $ 15 fee. Then, since I needed to cancel my membership I found out that their cancellation policy is also designed to get 1 – 2 extra months fees out of you. You have to send a certified letter through the mail in writing with 30 days notice to cancel a month to month policy(and the clerk didn’t know what it was and didn’t know the policies so couldn’t explain it). You can’t talk to the people you know at the club about the membership, it can only be handled by mail or fax to a corporate office. Therefore you will be charged at least one extra month and in some cases two and all the while since you have to enclose your barcode with your letter, even though you have almost 2 months left, you can’t continue to use the gym until your time runs out! Therefore I recommend that despite some pros you AVOID this place if you will be a member less than a year. It’s an unpleasant mix of being treated nicely by the people in person at the gym itself and ripped off or ignored by the overall company.

Never packed. Plenty of treadmills. I went in with a credit card and after 15 minutes, I was signed up and ready. The loft has several treadmills but the TV’s are too small to watch from the back. Not to mention, they are not as fancy as other fitness centers I have been to. This is a minor disappointment. The weights are spaced out and not over crowded. However, do not expect to operate the machinery without assistance. New life doesn’t have posted FAQ’s on each machine. Some look very intimidating often leaving me wondering what it does. This place also has a pool which is adequate for aquatics. Lastly, they have an area designated to drop off your kids.
