The Shoe Doctor

I’ve taken shoes here before and service was okay. Therefore 2 stars instead of zero.
When I took my boots to the Shoe Doctor in early November 2014, he said he could fix the heels but maybe/​maybe not the zipper. He said he’d let me know that week.
I didn’t hear from him, so I called in early December to see if the zipper was fixable. He said yes, no problem. I hadn’t heard from him by late December, so I called again, asking for a time frame. He said my boot zipper was very difficult to fix and the lady taking out the original zipper had spent 3 days on it and had only removed ¹⁄₃ of the zipper, and it would now be her top priority. He would not quote a time frame.
In February I still had not heard back from him so I stopped in the shop. He found my boots, the new zipper was sewn in, fairly sloppily, and he assured me the lady wasn’t finished and would clean up the stitches. He hadn’t repaired the heels yet. I said I’d take them as they were. He gave me my money back for the heels he never fixed.
While I’m happy to have my boots back, the lack of communication, lack of realistic time frame, and probable lies about the amount of time someone was spending on my zipper are more than enough to make me find a new shoe repair place. I don’t trust him with shoes I care about.

$ 15 and my best dress shoes have new heels. The owner was very friendly and professional. His shop has anything you could need for your shoes. I will definitely be back!
He takes dry cleaning drop-​offs too.
