While deciding what to cook for supper(Publix pkg lot) I looked up and saw 5 ppl emerging from Fuji Café. All shared what they had and how good it was complete with recommendations Quick Unilocal check and I went in cause I’m hungry and you should eat before you shop. So the special is Cali Kani a California roll and crab sushi. Very fresh flavourful and served quickly! A skill to roll sushi so quickly! I spoke with the owner Jenny. Her family has been in Irmo for 18 yrs. She cooks with passion. I’m coming back tonight with my family… it is still close to Mother’s Day

Decent hibachi. Family friendly location. Located in the Publix shopping area. Clean looking establishment. Plenty of seating area. Quiet atmospshere. I got the chicken and steak hibachi. The steak looked odd but tasted alright. Decent meal, I’ve had better hibachi, good white sauce. They did offer kid meals. $ 9.95 for the meal.

Love Fuji Café! I can’t comment about the sushi(I don’t care for any sushi), nor about how«authentic» the food is(if it tastes good, I don’t care). However, what I can tell you is that their hibachi dishes are outstanding. Usually get the shrimp or chicken with white rice, and both are great. The shrimp hibachi has tons of shrimp that aren’t overcooked like they are at many places, and the chicken in the chicken hibachi includes some chicken that has a nice caramelized, almost crunchy exterior(likely little pieces of skin here and there that crisped up). The white rice that they serve is really good… perfect stickiness and great flavor. Honestly, I could just eat a plate of their white rice. The vegetables are plentiful and crisp-tender(not overcooked mush), and the sauce is not overpowering like it can be elsewhere. Their white sauce that they serve on the side is the best I’ve had. The service is always good… usually high school students that are well-trained and simply do their job without being overly intrusive. It is owned and operated by a very nice family who takes pride in what they do. I would definitely recommend this place. In my opinion, it’s the best hibachi around the Irmo area. Our go-to place for lunch. P. S. Do yourself a favor and try the Vietnamese cold Spring Rolls as an appetizer.

Came here for the first time today. The sushi were pretty good but if you’re looking to eat some authentic Japanese food this is not the place to go. The service is good, and it’s a nice place to go for a quick lunch if you want some sushi rolls or makis.

So I’ve been here a few times and had a decent dining experience. I took a first date here, however, and the meal was a catastrophe. The tea and water had a really strange taste, as though they came from a cooler or pitcher that had soap residue sitting in it. We waited for almost a half-hour for a waiter to take our order — when we tried to get his attention we were informed that he was busy filling up sauces and he’d get with us when he could. The service overall was really shoddy. The food itself was adequate, if unremarkable. The sushi was decent, and the hibachi was cooked pretty well. Their seafood yaki-soba wasn’t cooked very well; I had to send it back because the shrimp was half-cooked. Overall I was very disappointed with the service and not really impressed with the food. I don’t know that I’ll be going back.

I can say with every bit of confidence that this is my go-to place for sushi, most especially if I’m near home. This has been the best dining experience I’ve had at a local that was less than $ 20, and maybe the best in Columbia period! Ask for Emily, she’s a doll baby.

I love Fuji Café! This place really has some good sushi and hibachi, though I wouldn’t say it has as much artistry and fish selection in the sushi as say Inakaya on Saint Andrews Road. If you are looking for more ‘traditional’ Japanese I would suggest Inakaya. However, if you are looking for some yummy American Sushi at a good price, I think you will find Fuji to fit your needs. First, the fish is really fresh, which is good. I do wish they had more ‘specialty’ selections of fish and sea creatures, but I can’t see how they could maintain their quality with their likely customer base in that area, so I understand why they stick to the standards. They have a special(as other Unilocalers have mentioned). You get three rolls for 12.95 and you can add salad or soup for 1.00 more. The selection is good for this deal and most of the major popular rolls are on the list(crunchy roll, spicy: insert fish/seafood: roll, philly roll, etc). But, I’m a sucker for their speciality rolls(can’t save money to save my life!). They have two that are my favorites: The Spicy Tuna Lover and the Firecracker. I’m a sucker for the spicy stuff and if you are two, I would recommend these! I think the extra cost is offset by the quality of the fish in these rolls, not to mention the large portion size. The atmosphere is nice. The place is decorated in typical fashion. It is in a strip mall, but some of the best things are sometimes in strip malls these days. The staff is nice and the times I’ve been we’ve had competent service. The owner keeps them on their toes, and the staff seems on the younger side so not as experienced as some places. At any rate, if you are craving sushi, I think this is a solid choice for a good meal at a reasonable price. I can not comment on the Hibachi, but next time we go I’ll have my husband order some and I’ll update the review!

Love this Café. I’ve eaten there many times with my husband. A great neighborhood standby. Great for takeout or eat in. I’ve introduced many of my friends and without exception they’ve all loved it, even the picky eaters who don’t like Japanese food! Not fine dining but my favorite café with good value and good service. Relaxed atmosphere and friendly. My favorite is the hibachi chicken which is inexpensive and always tasty. You have a choice of steamed rice, fried rice, and even noodles. For $ 1.00 extra they’ll add soup and salad. A very hefty meal and if it’s lunch you’ll probably want the take home box. Also, the tempura appetizer is a favorite of ours and would make a meal by itself. They have an area in back for groups of 20 or so.

Well, it’s OK. But I can’t say I would recommend it. I have had sushi all over the country and this is, well, average.
