Rent-A-Wreck

Crooks and liars. Stay away. Glad I was not a customer. They tried to rip me off anyway. Here’s how it went:
DH and I own a small mobile auto glass company. We’re out together every day putting glass in for customers all over the Midlands and the CSRA. Tuesday the 26^th was another busy day, but when Rent-a-Wreck’s insurance company called us we hurried to replace a windshield for them because we’re sympathetic to how businesses NEED their vehicles to work. We went out of our way to help Agnes and R-​a-​W.
The vehicle was in poor condition when we arrived, including a broken inside rear view mirror. We attributed that to truth in advertising… and after noting it on the work order we took photos just in case. The install was quick and easy and I got a signature from Agnes when we were done.
Fast forward to today, Friday the 29^th. All of a sudden we get a call — the insurance company’s TPA wanted to know what we were going to do about the mirror we broke. What? I explained that it was that way prior to work start, and that it said so on the work order that Agnes signed. I had forgotten I had pics. I sent the invoice with the signature and the notice re: the mirror to the TPA. Then I got a call from Agnes, and she acted rudely. I told her the mirror was broken from the start and she KNEW it. She said we broke it and threatened to report us to the BBB. I had to exit that call with Agnes because the insurance company’s adjuster was on that other line. I offered to send them a copy of the invoice as well.
Fortunately, DH remembered that I had taken a picture of the mirror before we started work! I pulled up the photo, and there it was, plain as day. I made sure to get the mirror-​stub and the cracks in the windshield to prove the prior damage if we had to, but it’s kinda funny because I was actually getting a sneaky pic of DH at the same time — he’s a bit camera shy :) I called the insurance adjuster right back and got her email addr. so I could send her a pic — she was so grateful she laughed her ass off! She said Agnes had called her MORE than 15 times in 2 hours, yelling at her about the mirror that Agnes KNEW was broken.
So I called R-​a-​W and got Agnes. I asked her where I could send the picture and she said dejectedly «Oh, you have pictures?». Then she hung up on me. Guess she can cheat and lie all day long but she can’t deal with truth. I called back and got Verna who said her manager wasn’t available, told me to have a nice day and hung up on me again. Do not expect anything less if you deal with R-​a-​W.
