One of the best stores in the area. There’s a few very kind, helpful and caring people working here. Charley is awesome! She’s helped me many times. Tim the manager is also very helpful and in demand. Unfortunately, I do most of my shopping at Home Depot because I know the CEO’s son. He was my platoon leader for a few years and we deployed to Iraq together. I do like supporting friendly businesses though, so once in awhile I’ll spend money here just to feed the good karma they have going on.

This is not your average hardware store. They have many unique items there. This is a place that we have to stop at anytime we go into Iron River. The staff is very friendly and it’s fun to look around there.

I agree with Mike on this one. They have the inventory of a big chain like Menards and Home Depot except they don’t carry lumber. What they do have is a helpful and knowledgeable service staff. I’ve found obscure parts to finish heating, plumbing and other projects that would require special orders or multiple stops in bigger towns. I even found a cherry pitter there a few years ago amongst the pasta makers, meat grinders and even a spatzel maker!

In a sparsely populated territory like the Michigan UP, you won’t find a convenience store, Home Depot, Menard’s or Sears for maybe a 30 mile radius. Bigari Ace in Iron River is more than just another hardware store. You can buy paint, horse feed, lawn tractors, snowblowers, homemade jams, cases of soda, T-shirts, jeans, shoes/boots, heavy-duty winter coats, aromatic candles, camping supplies, work gear, tools, and even decorations for your home — all under one corrugated metal roof. And you can refill your propane tank while you’re at it. Prices are good and the staff are extremely helpful. We came here for a few jars of Keweenaw blackberry jam and because they offer a great variety of nice safety/sunglasses for under $ 10 that cost way more at the big stores in other places. And a 50 pound bag of deer corn to get our woodland friends to visit us every evening by our cabin…
