After a LONG quest to find an actual kickboxing trainer, I finally found Bryan with 8 Points Kickboxing and I am very happy! I started training with Bryan a couple weeks ago and I really like it a lot. I had a very good trainer several years ago, but he stopped having muay thai classes, so I stopped too because I wasn’t able to find anything that suited me. I’ve been to nearly all the kickboxing places around town. There are some very good kickboxing studios, assuming all you want is to get in a good workout. I noticed that none of them actually teach you how to kickbox correctly or go beyond a basic punch and basic kicks. I was looking for a private muay thai style kickboxing trainer for quite some time and had been unsuccessful finding anyone I really liked. These programs didn’t suit me because I personally I find kicking bags somewhat boring after awhile. If I’m going to spend the my time doing something, I want to get the most out of my time and do it RIGHT! There’s nothing about kicking and punching a bag that will make someone into an actual«kickboxer» — or anywhere close to it! If you don’t know technique and form, then you’re just a person who punches and kicks bags(just my humble opinion). Absolutely NOTHING can replace training with another person who is holding pads while you go at it! Bryan always makes sure my form is correct and we work on a lot of cool moves such as knee and elbow strikes, which for me is a lot of fun and makes the hour fly by. There is nothing fluffy about his training — it is hard core! Not only am I getting an amazing workout but I’m practicing self-defense and becoming an all around bad ass! :-) The flexibility with schedule is an added bonus for me. I believe he does house calls, but I go to his location which is convenient for me and I don’t have room anyway. ]Overall, I would highly recommend for anyone interested in learning from scratch or coming back from a long hiatus! (not sure why this isn’t showing up on my reviews)
