Brandywine Student Center

This place is great for those in Middle Earth. It has free ping pong, pool tables, air hockey, video games, basketball court, volleyball, small gym, and music rooms.
Granted the music rooms are basically two rooms with keyboards you can jam there all you want. The dvd collection is extremely small right now since they just started it up. And the tiny gym basically has enough for tiny girls who think they are fat to work out, or the typical guy who wants to get buff to impress girls. The gym although small, you can work out pretty hard if you know what you’re doing. However it can get pretty damn crowded.
Ping Pong paddles could be in better condition and so can all the other things to play with but for the price of free, and the amount of things you can do it makes Middle even more enjoyable on top of the easy access to food.

LOVE IT! Offers a ton of games for FREE (just bring your student ID card)-you can play basketball, foosball, pool, ping pong, sit in the huge TV room and do your thang… jk. But there is a separate room for that! It’s open every day, and it’s right next to Helm’s Deep, our weight room.
The music’s always bumpin’, get koo with the staffers and shoot some pool with them too, haha. There’s always people inside, and on the few nights that it gets hella busy, you’ll be on a waitlist (30 min per game) but just play some other games while you wait. It’s all good.
What’s more, we host events from basketball, volleyball, and dodgeball (with ALL the halls in Middle Earth, so get out there and play for your hall, and meet other people and staffers in the process). I don’t know what they’ve changed/​added/​deleted, but we also did random events too… like checking up on those halls that decorate for Halloween, we threw our own dance party once (nonalcoholic drinks with grenadine… I love grenadine lol). It’s all about what you make of it! Always open to suggestions too, so go make some and help out. Get involved!
I’m so passionate about this place, I think this review has the most exclamation marks so far. Yayuhh!!!

If you’re a UCI freshman/​transfer and live in Middle Earth, you gotta check this place out!
The BSC is the perfect place to kick it before class, in between class, and after class. They have pool tables, arcade games, ping pong tables, air hockey table, foosball table, and a TV room. You can also make faxes, rent out board games, and sporting equipment. Next door is Helm’s Deep which is a small gym with an adequate amount of equipment. The best about the BSC is that it’s all free! Well, except for the faxes, but if you’re a Middle Earth resident, it’s all free! Not even people from Mesa Court can use these amenities.
Quick anecdote:
My roommates and I were all engineering majors freshman year and had Physics at 1. We’d hit up Brandywine Commons next door for lunch then head over to the BSC, shoot pool, and run over to the lecture hall every M, W, F. Good times.
I liked this place so much I ended up working here my second year. My job consisted of handing out pool cues/​balls and making sure everybody was getting 30 minutes of pool time. But the majority of the time, I was doing homework and bullshitting with fellow co-​workers haha.
Come by and check it out. You’ll feel better that all the money Mommy & Daddy paid for you to dorm is being used to its full extent!
