Just got my sofa. I LOVE IT! This sofa extended my expectations. The ordering process was easy. The staff were friendly and helpful. I paid $ 2500.00 for my sectional and I would highly recommend using this company for custom orders.

BuildASofa’s $ 149 «no name on the truck /​no name on the bill of lading» delivery service refused to move our old sofa out the front door and into our garage without paying an additional fee.

Awesome customer service!!! The salesman was fun and polite from the moment we arrived. If you are planning on checking out the store, either do some homework on their website ahead of time or be prepared to alot a decent amount of time to picking out a couch; They have a huge selection!!! We went in with an idea of what we wanted, and they helped direct us to other models as well. The salesman was incredibly helpful and knew the slight differences between the models easily (for example: he knew little details like the difference between two models being a slightly lower cushion, a 1 depth difference, and 1″ arm width difference).
Once we selected a couch there was a large selection of fabrics and wood choices.
We were concerned about prices. The salesman was helpful and tried to point us to deals, sales, and floor models that he could give at a discount. This was really nice. Once we picked our couch, he threw in the throw pillows for free… we actually we able to just grab them off the pillow wall and take them home that day. Great customer service.

It appears my previous review had been deleted. I will post another. I purchased couches from build a sofa about 4 years ago. The experience was great. We dealt with Jane, who at the time of the purchase was fantastic. We purchased two custom sectionals. Our grand total was beyond $ 7,000. Whey they arrived they were beautiful. After about two years of use, the couches began to fall apart and the cushions became flat. We were told that there was a 2 yr no question asked return policy by Jane. When we purchased the couches, she told us to mark in our calendars a date just prior to the two year mark so we could bring the cushions back in and have them re fluffed and filled. So, needless to say, I did so. With only one of the couch cushion sets. The other couch is hardly used. I dropped the cushions off and didn’t receive a call for a week. I assumed the call was to come pick up the fixed cushions; however, it was them informing me that one one of the cushions met their criteria for warranty replacement. So basically. I was out cushions for an entire week on our main couch so I could be told it didn’t meet the warranty specification. Furthermore, it’s because Jane was out of the office for the week and the person I left them with wasn’t capable of determining what was warranty issue or normal wear and tear.
Ultimately someone from corporate said they would refill all the cushions dropped off for a reduced cost. I think I paid a couple hundred bucks. The cushions needed fixed because they were saggy. Not what I expected out of a $ 3,500 custom couch. So the additional few hundred was worth it. Well, fast forward another two years. The stuffing they did was terrible. Now almost every couch cushion zipper separates and the material is saggy and horrible.
This was by far the worst purchase I have made. The couches are comfortable when you first get them. And the custom nature of them is amazing. It is very enticing. The problem is. The service. The quality. It’s horrendous. You have been warned. Stay away. I will post photos of these terrible couches at 4 years. Believe me. It’s not worth the purchase. I would of been better off purchasing new couches every year and still would be ahead of the game.
What a waste! And if Jane is there. Don’t be fooled by this lady. She’s a flat out liar and clearly has absolutely no ethics.

Update 1÷30÷16: Buildasofa listened to my rant and clarified the miscommunication and went way above and beyond to make me a very satisfied customer. Frank and his associate from Interior transporters delivered the couch this morning and both were professional and efficient and timely. They even gave a courtesy call to let me know they would be arriving soon. Everything Buildasofa and Interior Transporters have done is a testimonial to a business that truly cares about customer satisfaction. It was just last night I Unilocaled ¹⁄₅ stars and emailed my rant to the company (I think the email listed for the founder that is on the buildasofa website is actually the real email for the founder of buildasofa) and by this morning I received an email response and received phone calls to clarify the miscommunication and now I am updating my Unilocal review to ⁵⁄₅ stars while I am hanging out on my awesome new couch. Thank you Buildasofa for making my rough week end on a pleasant note.
Original review 1÷29÷16: Just found out today 1÷29÷16 that the build a sofa delivery service I paid for will not deliver on weekends and they will only deliver if they happen to already be in the area. Be prepared to have to take a random work day off when they happen to be in the area. I am unable to schedule a delivery date still because can’t get the timing right. Tonight, Sent an email inquiry to the founder, his email address is listed on their website for any questions. Will update Unilocal review when I get a response.

After a long and exhausted search for a sofa that would fit our vintage home, we decided that because we were so picky we needed to try the unconventional way. This is when we decided to try BuildASofa in Irvine. My Wife and I knew exactly what we wanted but couldn’t find it until we found BuildASofa. I had seen the BuildASofa store many times in passing but never had the need until now. Our buying experience was very enjoyable with Antuan as our sales person. He was super helpful and genuinely enjoyed the process with us. Be informed that your sofa will take at least 6 weeks, but be patient because it’s worth it. Our sofa took 7 weeks but that may have been caused by the holidays. I am so happy that we found them because we are so happy with the sofa we designed. People are always commenting on how nice our sofa looks and how well if fits the room. Thank you BuildASofa!

We purchased a custom sofa and loveseat from Build-​A-​Sofa in San Jose two years ago to fit the needs of an adult household. All the cushion seams have ripped and the foam inserts have flattened out. The sofas arrived with a bad odor that did not improve. We have replaced these units and would not recommend this product.

I purchased a sofa from another sofa place, but bought my second one at BuildASofa. What a difference! I was fortunate to have the owner work with me and he explained some details that explains why my other sofa looks so sloppy now. BuildASofa is less expensive than those pottery/​barrell stores and so much faster in delivery and with what I believe is better quality. Go, you’ll love it.

Our custom sectional was delivered today and fit perfectly. The workmanship is superb and it was completed when promised. The delivery was seamless and all the pieces were delivered on time. Working with Brad was such a help in decision making and he even helped us get a side chair upholstered to match the new sectional.

We had never heard of Build-​A-​Sofa until we received a coupon book for Irvine Marketplace and decided to give it a try. We had been looking for a sofa for a long time but could not find one that (1) would be comfortable, (2) would look great, and (3) our cat would not claw. Build-​A-​Sofa has a huge selection of styles to choose from (only one modern style but fortunately, we liked it), and they can customize anything you request: configuration, size, firmness, fabric, etc. We have a big family room so we ordered a 10′ x 9′ sectional, which is not a standard size.
The price was surprisingly reasonable for a custom sofa (I compared it with Plummers). We changed the style of the back cushions from pillow-​style to a more modern flat and also asked to make them higher than the standard as my husband likes a sofa with a high back. We picked a microfiber fabric out of hundreds of different fabric samples (cats do not normally claw microfiber).
The owner of the store was there and was extremely helpful. We spent probably 2 hours designing and re-​designing our sofa.
They told us the sofa would be ready in 6 weeks. It was delivered in 4 weeks but when we saw it we were horrified: the back was so high, it looked ridiculous. It was bulky and disproportionate. It had been a mistake to ask for a higher back. We immediately called the store and they told us to bring the back cushions back. In 3 days we got new back cushions, normal height and also a bit thinner, as I asked. The sofa looks amazing and the quality is impeccable!

Long story short, this is the best place to buy a custom sofa, hands down. From quality to service to options, this place has no equal anywhere in Orange County.
I started researching custom sofas and found a few places. One of the places I went to was BuildASofa and was far and away more impressed with them than anyone else. My wife and I went there initially as we began shopping around. We were quoted a price that we expected. After going to 4 other places, we decided to go with BuildASofa because their owner, Brad, demonstrated clearly their superior product, warranty, and levels of service. We went back in to pick our fabric and while Brad wasn’t there, the store manager priced out our sofa and it was much, much more expensive than Brad had quoted. I was certainly concerned with a bait-​and-​switch and went back in a week later to speak to Brad directly. Brad admitted his error and offered us the sofa we wanted at the price he quoted, despite how much lower the price was than his manager quoted. I have no doubt in my mind that Brad, a man of his word, was willing to lose money on the deal in order to take care of his customers and deliver as promised. It’s really rare to find a business owner who stands by what he says. It would have been much easier for him to say woops and not offer the price he quoted, but he stood by it and did the right thing — I will always recommend BuildASofa to anyone looking.

Excellent customer service. Brad helped us out. He’s knowledgeable and super nice. Went in asking about sectionals and connectors. This guy knows his stuff. I highly recommend this place.

We ordered a custom couch from Build A Sofa and it was now ready for delivery. We chose this couch because it had the dimensions to fit through the narrow twists and turns to get into our upstairs office. The delivery was on time and they were courteous and quickly got the couch upstairs and down a narrow hall. But that’s where they got stuck. They could not get the couch into the office even after taking off the door. After several attempts with no success, they took the couch back to the wharehouse with a plan to have it cut in half.
The owner of Build A Sofa was convinced he could get it into the room and offered to come over and remeasure the dimensions of the office door. Two days later, the owner and his warehouse manager came with the couch. They got the couch up the stairs and down the narrow hallway and to the tight doorway. After a few turns and a couple back and forths, the couch easily slid into the officeThe total delivery time was about 20 minutes.
We know this is a long read, but we want everyone to know about our experience with the people at Build A Sofa. The quality of the couch is excellent. When there was a delivery problem, the owner was available to quickly identify what the problem was and find a solution. And during the whole delivery issue, their hands on, customer service was done in a professional manner with a smile and sense of humor. Thank you. We highly recommend Build A Sofa for anyone looking to order a custom couch or other piece of furniture.

I’m not sure how this place has received such great reviews… my family and I had a horrible experience there. My parents were in the market looking to replace their furniture. We had visited a few places and decided to check this one out too. My parents new space is on the smaller side so we needed to make sure what we end up with fits the space. We walked in and had some very specific question regarding measurements and pricing if we needed a custom size. I’m not sure if the gentleman helping us was the owner or a sales rep but he was beyond rude… I typically don’t say that but after a couple of questions, he told me that I’m working for the completion and trying to get info out of him. I was shocked… who says that??? I can’t imagine anyone walking to a furniture store when they are in a need of buying something and don’t know their measurements and budget. it’s very hard to offend me but I was super offended. not only he didn’t apologies, he told me he doesn’t need to sell us anything… of course that was his choice but I would have expected that if I had actually argued or was rude back.
I would never ever go back and don’t recommend the place to anyone… there are much better places around.

Went to the Tustin Marketplace looking for an old furniture store… happily surprised to find BuildASofa.
I walked in on a great day to be there. Brad was there — he’s the founder and owner. I had a sofa I needed to get replaced or remade since I had gone through a insurance water claim. Talk about custom couches.
Brad was awesome. He walked me through how they make it, showed me a couple videos of their factory in downtown LA, and invited me to go up to their factory to see my couch being made if I wanted. I learned more about couches than I ever thought possible. I can customize my new sofa in almost any way I want. So many different fabric choices, stuffing choices, «plush» choices too. He walked me through the different ways to make it just like my old couch I loved so much. Brad gave me an estimate for everything I wanted — Great Prices too.
I can’t wait to put my order in with BuildASofa.

My sister and I just moved to Irvine, found a house, and literally had no furniture since our Uhaul U-​Box was delayed with most of our stuff. We intended on buying a couch when we got here so we shopped around. We went into BuildASofa and met Jane and Antoine who were the BEST to work with.
We sat on practically every couch and found one for an amazing deal. We didn’t want it delivered so they helped us bag the cushions to bring home that night and the following day, we were able to load it in our truck.
Jane was also a huge help in making recommendations for other things we were looking for in our new home. Just all around great people looking to serve the needs of their customers. I’ll definitely be back for any future furniture needs!

I’ll never use them. We just came back to Riverside County after a disappointing trip to The OC. We wasted gas and were even humiliated by the saleswoman inside the «storefront» business. We walked in expecting to get help choosing a sofa. The lady said hello and then walked into the back room. After standing around a few minutes and sitting on sofas, we expected her to come back and talk to us. She came out and walked back into the rear leaving us again. My husband disturbed her concentration by asking for some brochure but she told us it was on the website. So we thought that was weird. We thought she didn’t like white guy with Mexican woman couple. Or she was the most rude and phoney person ever. I’ll never use them. Ever. Ever. Ever! All in less than 10 minutes. I hope she reads this.

Bought a new house in April and wanted to get it set up as soon as possible. Jane was so helpful in expediting the order. My house is mid century modern design and the Oliver sofa tufted in blue fabric just hits the spot. People that come over love it. It brings the room together.
