After having a bad experience with a dentist in Marina del Rey, I decided to drive all the way from Santa Monica to Irvine to visit Dr. Grupe. Dr Grupe was referred to me by a close family friend and is known for his special night guards/​retainers (which is exactly what I needed). Not only did Dr. Grupe make me feel comfortable, I was able to trust that he knew exactly the special night guard/​retainer that I needed to help aid with my TMJ. Since visiting Dr. Grupe I no longer have any of the TMJ symptoms that I once had, because of my new retainer. I am SO thankful for all that Dr. Grupe has done for me and I will continue to recommend him to anyone who is looking for a dentist!

Dr. Grupe is an artist. Even if he is simply filling a cavity you will feel absolutely comfortable with his work. From the x-​ray to the finished product, he will explain and even show you on display the details of the procedure. I have had over 40 fillings (yes, I have genetically weak enamel) and two crowns, both of which were done in the same visit. The operations have always been painless and my teeth feel great afterwards. I have a mouth guard for grinding at night which continues to work with the new surfaces on my teeth each year. Basically, he has re-​built my entire mouth and I couldn’t imagine anyone else doing as good of work. I have been his patient for over 6 years, with again over 40 wonderful procedures.

Don Grupe has been my dentist for years and I now live in PalosVerdes and still drive down to Irvine and his office for my dental needs. He is a great guy with terrific balance in both his personal and professional lives. He attended both USC and UCLA for undergrad and dental school so he can sing both songs! He is married with with three daughters in college but still has found time over the years for fencing, hang-​guiding and work-​outs to stay in shape. Don Grupe has the ideal mix of technical dental knowledge and skill along with warm, friendly «chair-​side» manner.

I’ve been a patient here for about a year. I can’t say enough great things about Dr. Grupe and his staff. They are kind, professional, knowledgeable, and do GREAT dental work. Let’s face it, nobody looks forward to going to the dentist, but Dr. Grupe and his staff make you feel comfortable and relaxed before a procedure.
I have been to other dental offices where the staff didn’t engage with the patients and made the experience nerve wrecking. I once had my wisdom teeth extracted at another dental office and the dentist stabbed my mouth several times to numb me… sorry, I meant «injected.»
I recently went in with Dr. Grupe to have some fillings done and here came the dreadful numbing needle. I was shocked that I did not feel the injection AT ALL. I REPEAT, the numbing injection was absolutely painless. Wow, was I happy that I didn’t feel a thing!
The office is very clean and it’s in a very nice area right across from John Wayne airport.
I highly recommend Dr. Grupe to anyone looking for exceptional dental work.
