Jan’s Gentle Paws

My Maltese, Bella, got her grooming from Jan today for the first time and I couldn’t be more happier that I found Jan! Bella gets super anxious when she goes to the groomers and around a lot of other dogs so I’ve been trying to find a place that she would feel comfortable with in the Irvine area. So far with all the other groomers, she was either in a cage or in a cage-​free area filled with other dogs. But with Jan, Bella got to hang out with one dog that belongs to Jan and stayed cage free the whole time with access to the garage where she gets groomed and the back yard. I am also very picky about her haircut but Jan was able to do exactly as I asked! I also know that Bella felt comfortable with Jan because usually when I pick her up from the groomers her face is wet from anxious drooling, but this time her face was dry! I’ll definitely be taking my Bella again to Jan and would highly recommend her!

By far the best groomer we’ve ever worked with. Our cockapoo had a traumatic experience as a puppy with grooming, and has hated grooming since. Usually he’s tuck-​tail going in and coming out, but with Jan it’s all waggles. Jan is incredibly patient and gentle with our pup. We will only be working with her from now on!

Our Maltese, Cotton had his first grooming at Jan’s last week. Jan showed and explained her equipment and how she grooms while Cotton got to know her dogs~
Cotton is a shy boy and he will shake so much every time he gets groomed but after Jan’s he was fine! What a relief!
Also there are no crates, dogs can freely play in her garage or backyard with her dogs before and after the grooming, which is nice.

We have two 5 month old Schnoodle puppies who had never been to the groomer. It was very important to us that they had a good experience and Jan was the perfect fit! Our dogs were the only ones she worked on while they were there and even as we came to pick them up, they were still jumping up to say hi to Jan… they just loved her! We’ll be back!

Our girl Lulu hated her experience at the dog groomers. When I picked her up she was trembling and I hated how they charged me so much for little things. After this I was on a mission to find a place that she would feel comfortable, and a place that did a good job and didn’t keep adding on charges. Jan does all of the above and does a fabulous job on our girl. We highly recommend her! Her place is super clean, she does a more then exceptional job, and she will tell you upfront how much it will be and the number does change when you pick up. More importantly the dogs are so happy to be there! Best decision we have made for our dog, and we will be coming back again and again!

I highly recommend Jan! I’ve had nothing but bad experiences with groomers in the past. My dog would be an emotional mess for days after and one time had a razor burn on his neck. I knew I needed to bring him somewhere where he wasn’t placed in a cage for hours while waiting his turn. I found Jan on Unilocal and based on the reviews I decided to give her a try and I’m so glad I did. She was able to fit us in right away. She did a great job on my furbaby and for the 1^st time he wasn’t an emotional wreak after. Her prices are reasonable and she was a pleasure to meet and do business with. Oreo and I will definitely be back!

I’ve been looking for a place like this for my 3lb yorkie and I am so glad I found her on Unilocal!My dog is so stressed and anxious after every grooming experience, that she usually hibernates for the next 2 – 3 days and becomes a little depressed. I think it is the fact that they put her in a cage to cage dry and she has to sit there for hours.
I did a little research on Jan’s website and saw that she donates her time at the local shelters and I loved that about her. I try to donate goods to my local shelter as well so I knew she was providing these services because she wants to, not because she needs to. ($$)
I called Jan and booked an appointment for the same week, very difficult to do these days. Jan works out of her home so I was able to drop her off a little early and I got to see her set up. She had a dog already being groomed while Jan’s dog watched her work. No other dogs waiting because she only takes one at a time!
When it was time to pick her up, I saw that her garage door was open and my dog was on a long leash and she was just hanging out. She was tired but not anxious or stressed like she usually is. She was back to normal after her nap.
Loved the experience and would definitely book her again!

Jan is amazing! I newly rescued my dog, Stella and she had been itching and whining a lot. After on groom with Jan, she hadn’t scratched or whined at all. Not to mention, she looks and smells beautiful! At first, I was a tad skeptical about Jan being a groomer from her home, but boy was I wrong! Stella got to play with her dogs and roam free rather than being locked up in a cage. Truly the best!!! I will not be taking her anywhere else! Even though she works from her home, she let Stella stay for several hours while I worked. I promise if you try Jan once, you’ll never go anywhere else! I know I am hooked and so is my baby, Stella. Thank you so much Jan!!!

Simba’s 2^nd time with Jan and he knows his routine there and did great! Hopped right into the tub and down for business!
Jan did a fab job with his coat and de-​matted his behind.
Thank you for keeping him an extra 45 min while we had just sat down for dinner! :)

Jan was great. Very knowledgeable about her craft. I have a big 75+ pound dog and Jan had no issues giving her a good bath and grooming. She came out the best I have ever seen her. Jan gives the dogs individualized attention which I like.
