Joseph Passamano, DDS – My Dentist Joe

I selected Dr. Passamano based on the quaint, historical location of his office, as well as for his stellar Unilocal reviews. I was not let down on either front. I joked with him about his «rustic» walk up, but in reality, his office location is as charming as it gets for Irvine. It’s a breath of fresh air to see so much structural charm, in an ocean of blah Irvine buildings. Aside from all that, Dr. Passamano’s affable-​yet-​professional nature makes you completely forget you’re hugely afraid of the dentist! I had actually put off going for over a year due to my dentist-​dread. Even so, he told me I could delay some dental work, rather than moving in for the hard sell. Very refreshing and much appreciated. Another great plus is that his staff is equally personable. His administrator, Paige, helped me with an insurance issue without my even asking, and his hygienist is so peaceable and gentle that she too made me feel completely stress-​free. Lastly, Dr. Passamano grew up here, and it’s clear that he cares very much about the Irvine community. It’s great to connect with a doctor who is rooted here, rather than one who will hand you off to any of 5 or 6 overbooked rotating dentists, like my last one. Best dentist experience I’ve had in a long time.

Dr. Joe is a great dentist! I first came in 2 years ago for a wisdom tooth that felt like hell on earth. I first felt the pain during the weekend but he spoke to me over the phone and was probably the most understanding and informative dentist that answered, on a Saturday morning mind you. I think back then the office forwarded to his cell or something during the weekend? He assured me I would survive until Monday even though I felt like I was dying. All the other dentists I called that Saturday morning pretty much gave me the «WTF are you calling me on a Saturday morning for» attitude (which is understandable) or just didn’t pick up their phone. Dr. Joe already got points and I hadn’t even walked into his office yet.
He saw me the first opening he had on Monday. I was in and out of his office in 45 minutes. Paperwork, X-​ray, extraction, payment, everything. Best part was it didn’t even feel like I got a tooth pulled. I felt great and left for a road trip the next day!
Fast forward 2 years, I finally land a job post college with dental insurance, and lucky me Dr. Joe is in my coverage. Scheduled a cleaning and he still remembers me from 2 years ago. Most comfortable cleaning I’ve ever had in my life. Still had one more wisdom tooth left in my mouth and we schedule getting that taken out. Did that today and once again, in and out of his office in 45 minutes. Again, feeling pretty amazing for having a tooth pulled. Def planning to stick to this dentist for as long as I live in OC! Would recommend to anyone and everyone.

Awesome dentist! I was in town visiting and had some tooth pain and was referred here from a friend. I can’t say enough, Dr. P was thorough, personable and my tooth feels great! Highly recommend!

Highly recommended dentist for those that are in need of a teeth cleaning or filing. It is just Dr. Passamano and his assistant (who is really nice)! I’ve never had to wait no more than 5 mins upon my arrival.
Dr. Passamano is thorough and makes you feel relaxed. He doesn’t make you cry when he cleans your teeth (and you know what I mean. We’ve had those experiences where the dental hygienist is stabbing your gums).

I had been experiencing some tooth pain for a day or so and a swollen face. I decided to call this office since it was so close to my office. Usually they take the last patient at 4, but were willing to wait until 4:45 since I was in a mandatory training.
I arrived a little before 4:45 and filled out all the necessary paperwork. The office itself is very new and clean. I had an X-​ray done on my molar turns out an old root canal got infected so the tooth is abscessed. Dr. Passamano was great! He went over all my options and said it would be best to just pull it. He also suggested I have my wisdom teeth removed.
I got a referral to an oral surgeon and some meds for my infection. I generally fear going to the dentist, but Dr. Passamano made me feel extremely comfortable. He was friendly, warm, and really knowledgable. I will definitely be back for a check up.

My Dentist Joe is one cool dentist and dude. Awesome work he does!

Went to Dr Joe s clinic with an aching molar, he examined and suggested removing it since it had already been root canaled twice and was not in good shape. It took him more than 2 hours to remove and stitch up my gum but he did a great job. I was afraid it may hurt becoz it was so hard to remove and the fact that my gum had to be cut to ensure it was completely removed but I actually felt fine and am doing great!!!
I am going for a post op check up soon!!!

I’ll start off with saying, I am THEEE biggest baby when it comes to going to the Dentist! There I said it! When someone says Dentist to me I’m like Dracula when someone pulls the blinds back during the day… HSZZZZZZZZZ!!!
I’ve really only liked female dentists because they tend to be much more gentle & thats what I want when someone has Captain Hooks all up in my mouth!
However this is where Dr. Joe comes in. What can I say, I love the little quaint building that’s NOT in a strip mall with the windows open so people walking by can see your pain! Check!
His staff is super, super friendly & easy going! Check!
Joe is super funny & I’m just going to mirror the claims that he REALLY knows how to put his patients at ease. He debunked a few myths i had rolling around in my head & off we went with the cleaning. Which I needed a very deep one & yes I was originally petrified at just the cleaning! It’s those HOOKS MAN!!! C’mon i know I’m not the only one here!
I’m embarrassed by how many years, yes YEARZZZZZ I haven’t even driven by a Dentists office.
But Dr. Joe is awesome, he was definitely thorough & in the end he never tried to up sell me on anything & I was much more willing to believe the few things I really needed like 2 cavity fillings.
Can’t thank him enough & I’m definitely coming back & on more a of consistent basis.

The last two visits in Irvine I’ve had minor dental problems, picked Dr. Joe off Unilocal and couldn’t be more satisfied. Wish he could be my primary dentist back home. Calming disposition, extremely knowledgeable, competent and can’t beat his rates. He’s a young guy building a successful practice, so help him grow, give him a visit, can’t go wrong. Not to mention the very friendly accommodating office staff.

Dr. Joe is personable, flexible, warm and welcoming. Started seeing him about 4 months ago and he has taken exceptional care of me; making sure we had a comprehensive plan for my treatments. He is the first and only dentist to call me personally after an appointment to check on how I was doing and if I’m feeling well. Highly recommended, especially because the office is fresh and clean with new equipment.

Believe the hype! I went in for my first appointment in 2 years this month because I had a chipped filling. He did not try to upsell me, he does the cleaning himself. I had no pain during the cleaning or filling. Very personable easy going dentist with friendly staff and fair prices.

Dr. Passamano squeezed me in as a new patient upon experiencing pain in my. The office environment is extremely clean, organized on time. He found the source of pain immediately, was straight forward on what needed to be done and executed faster than I would have anticipated.

The reviews of Dr Joe helped me to book an appointment for a cleaning. Everything positive thing I read was true. Dr Joe was extremely nice and has s relaxed approach. He explained my films to me so that I could see where I needed work and also told me what I should pay attention to. I have super sensitive teeth and have had bad experiences with other dentists rushing and not being gentle or compassionate. Dr Joe tailored his approach to make me as comfortable as possible and I have to saw it was a very enjoyable visit. My husband now sees Dr Joe, too and I would recommend him easily. The office is new and renovated so it’s super clean and very professional. Katie in the front desk is also a sweetheart and made me feel very welcome. Great dentist!

Friendly and knowledgeable. He was sensitive to my needs as someone who is fearful of going to the dentist. Told me to raise my hand if I felt any pain at all and he would work around the area and come back to it after a bit. It’s really the little things that make people stand out. My previous dentist would basically bulldoze through my teeth and tell me that it’s almost over and to suck it up.
His front office staff is really nice over the phone and their brand new office is bright, clean, and modern. I would recommend Dr. Passamano.

After seeing three different dentists within a few weeks and still experiencing severe pain after their «fixes», I made an appointment with Dr. Passamano. He squeezed me in that day due to the amount of pain I was experiencing even though I was a new patient. He had a great bedside manner, was thorough when finding the source of pain, informative about the diagnosis (in laymens terms thank god) and honest about my options. I felt incredibly cared for and his laid back personality put my usual «going to the dentist anxiety» at ease.
I ended up getting a root canal (the tooth was dead and infected) and immediately started feeling better. I’m amazed that THREE dentists did not catch this nor take the time to find the true source of my pain. I won’t call out these «professionals» as that is not my style but I will say that Dr. Joe is the BEST! I would highly recommend him!
A few other things: his office is in a cute little stand alone building off Sand Canyon & the 5 (behind Knowlwood & Denny’s). He just moved into the space so everything is new and nice and modern. His staff is also very friendly, making you feel welcome. He takes most HMO’s but call ahead as they seem willing to work out a plan with you if you don’t have insurance. And he’s open on Saturdays… a huge plus for those with M-​F work weeks.

Dr. Joe is by far the best dentist I have ever had. Dr. Joe makes you feel relaxed and treats you like a friend. I used to hate going to the dentist, but with Dr. Joe it’s like visiting with an old friend. He is very experienced and walks you through everything he is doing to your teeth. Chit chat about golf or surfing. Dr. Joe is a talented, down to earth guy!

Great Dentist. I was given a same day appointment before a major holiday because of a toothache. Dr. Passamano made me feel comfortable. explained everything, and did a FANTASTIC job removing an achy/​painful wisdom tooth on the spot. I had minimal pain afterword, and everything was explained in a way that made me feel relaxed in what could have been a very stressful situation. He also attended a very prestigious dental school in San Francisco– when I was in college in that city I would go there because I didn’t have dental insurance, and was always surprised by the meticulous care I received and the attentiveness of the instructors. So, its beneficial to know that in addition to a terrific «chairside» manner he has also had top notch training.

You know the saying «You have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find your prince.»? I had to suffer through a lot of mediocre and even horrible dentists before I found Dr Passamano. And I am so happy I did, because he is certainly the best.
I used to have anxiety going to the dentist, but not anymore. Dr Passamano makes you feel so comfortable that it’s like going to see an old friend. Throughout both of my appointments (first was a checkup/​cleaning; second was to fill two cavities) he explained everything he was doing and constantly made sure I was feeling okay. He answered all my questions without making me feel dumb for asking.
I also used to dread that moment at the end of a dentist appointment when they tell you all the things you need to do and all the money you need to spend to do them. Not once has Dr Passamano done that. He is very honest about what needs to be done to care for my teeth and about things that don’t need to be done. He is also honest about what needs to be done now and what can wait.
Having a trustworthy dentist who makes you feel comfortable every time you walk in the door is priceless. It is such a relief to know you have found one. I recommend Dr Passmano to anyone who is ready for the best in dental care.

I get my teeth cleaned by Dr. Joseph Passamano, he is very thorough, does a great job and makes sure you are completely comfortable. I have recommended him to many family members and recently a more important referral-​my grandmother.
My grandmother had a large cavity and tooth decay in one of her front teeth. It was difficult for her to eat and she was embarrassed of the way it looked. So, what can I say about Dr. Joseph Passamano, that my grandmother has not already? Dr. Passamano gave my grandmother her smile back! She is happier now, can eat better and my family is so greatful for all his work that he has done. She came in had her work done and with no complaints of pain or discomfort during the process and the results are amazing. I’m glad I found the family a new family dentist.
