I had a very nice lunch here with a friend. I will definitely be checking it out again when I’m back in this part of town.

This place is extremely hit or miss as far as quality of food goes. Service is consistently poor and everyone is unfriendly, whenever I ask for suggestions or questions about an item. The only reason I kept trying to make this work was because I love Hawaiian-fusion food and there is nothing else local. It was the last straw when I got super sick after the Kahlua Pork. Yuck. I see on here that I am not the only one to get sick here. Not coming back. Leaving two stars because I have been fine eating the chicken katsu.

I come here on occasion. I always, always get the signature salmon with brown rice, steamed veggies, and slaw. I was going to give this place 5 stars because I love that salmon. However, I got curious about the pineapple chicken once and ordered it, and while it was tasty, it made me HORRENDOUSLYSICK after. I’ve been to Nalu’s since and went back to my salmon and have been fine. So I’m not sure if it was just a one-off or what. But I will probably stick to ordering what I know is good, haha.

This place has many healthy options for lunch. The food is Hawaiian/Asian fusion and most entrees are served with rice(white or brown at no extra charge), coleslaw and macaroni salad. I decided to try to the grilled mahi mahi with pineapple salad over brown rice. I got my order to go and was surprised at how well packaged it was. They put the coleslaw in a foil so the dressing from it didn’t mix with the fish and rice and the macaroni salad was packaged in a separate container. The piece of mahi mahi was big and cooked well. The pineapple salsa was sweet, tart, and a little spicy with the sliced jalepenos. The coleslaw had crispy noodles in it and tasted of sesame oil. You can also opt for a healthier version and get the grilled fish over a bed of salad instead of the three sides.

Let me start by saying that when my Bunny and I dined at this establishment, it was 3pm-ish on a Sunday afternoon… Not a usual time for lunch and there were maybe a couple of other patrons in the restaurant. The venue wasn’t clean and the help was less than enthusiastic when it comes to being accommodating! After the meal, we decided to have shaved ice and it was clearly displayed on the overhead menu but the less than friendly clerk said«We don’t serve that! Oh well… C’est la vie!

The Kalua Pork and Cabbage is good, with a heap of shredded smoked pork and cabbage underneath that’s been stewed, absorbing all the delicious porcine flavors. The dish is kinda watery and it’s salty but that’s okay by me. Didn’t care much for the Panko Ahi though, just a thin piece of ahi tuna that’s been crusted with panko breadcrumbs on one side, but nonetheless flavorful. The Poke Salad is mostly vegetables and I would have liked to see more fish.

I’ve eaten Nalu’s a few times and love it! Just be prepared if you come here on a lunch break from work as it gets pretty busy. So I’d been craving Nalu’s and decided what better time to stop in being that it’s lunch time for me. The line was out the door, but it moved quickly which was a good thing. I ordered the charbroiled steak with steamed white rice. The steak was cooked well and full of flavor. It’s one of my favorite items on the menu other than the Mai Mai which I would also recommend. Usually I order shaved iced with my meal, but this time they didn’t have any. Kind of disappointing because that’s another great plus about Nalu’s. The service here though is always pretty good everyone is friendly. The only reason I gave them 4 stars was because the no shaved ice overall everything else was great.
