Sea Pointe Construction

I have waited over a year to write this review, because I wanted to be as accurate as possible and not just emotional! I chose Seapointe after attending one of their seminars and asked them to design an outdoor living space. We had a modest budget as first time homeowners, $ 30 000, and advised them at every meeting. It took 3 months to even get preliminary plans drawn. The designers would ask «do you want a firepit?» and I would reply, «is that in the budget?» With every item, the reply was «we don’t know the cost until we design it.»
When we had our «final plan review» before going into the building phase, that was the first time we ever saw an outline of cost. $ 210 000. Two hundred ten thousand dollars. I think I was able to laugh for a moment before I started to cry. Their solution was to eliminate many of the features they had added bringing the cost down to around $ 60 000, still double the budget they knew all along.
I asked for my plans, which I had paid their $ 3000 plan fee for and walked out the door. I have spent the last year on other projects but recently got back to working on the yard. It turns out, if I do my own planting, I can do the yard within budget. Without a $ 40 000 BBQ or pergola, but I never asked for that!
The worst part is, the plans I paid $ 3000 for, aren’t even to code.
I really liked working with the Seapointe designers. They were fun and had good ideas, but either had no idea how much anything in their field costs, or had no respect for the budget. If you are fortunate enough to have no financial or time constraints, you may have a much different experience than I did. If you, like me, are stretching the budget, save your design fees and take your business elsewhere.

Wonderful service from start to finish. Gabi Speery helped us with the design process and Chris Jay our project manger was attentive to all our details. We used Seaponte in 2005 for a kitchen remodel and family room addition and now are using them for our master bathroom. We highly recommend them!
